The Underwater Wireless Sensor Network (UWSN) consists of a vast model where numerous active sensor nodes (SNs) surround each transmitting node. Secure communication encounters challenge due to the spatially and time changing characteristics of the UWSN medium. Moreover, there is a need for techniques for mitigating interference and better communication. To tackle this challenge, this work presents an optimal path and secure data transmission using Chameleon Search Optimization (CSO) and Enhanced Elliptical Curve Cryptography (EECC). The suggested model to transmit secure data transmission in UWSN on the basis of the optimal path has two phases. At first, nodes are chosen with respect to the energy and distance, and the optimal path is chosen by the CSO. Then, in the next phase, the encryption process is performed by the EECC for secure data transmission. The proposed CSO- EECC provided better communication effectiveness, security and robust solutions. The encryption time and decryption time achieved by the proposed CSO- EECC are 0.003 s and 0.0034 s respectively © 2024 IEEE.

This paper examines a novel online retail application optimized for local commerce via a location-based matching system. The application supports the sale of new and secondhand items, home goods, and vegetables, requiring users to register and input their locations. Transactions occur only when the buyer's and seller's locations align, reducing logistical challenges. The system features a review mechanism allowing customers to rate sellers, influencing future buyer decisions and seller reputation. Security is ensured through hand-to-hand payments and direct seller delivery, mitigating risks associated with digital payments and third-party delivery. Additionally, the application supports long-term relationships by maintaining permanent connections between customers and sellers. Technical aspects include the development of location-based matching algorithms, review systems, and security measures. Notably, the application incorporates advanced security features such as fake reviews detection and duplicate listings detection to protect both buyers and sellers from fraudulent activities. This study highlights how these components enhance local market efficiency and e-commerce reliability. © 2024 IEEE.

A Novel Design of Random Number Generators Using Chaos-Based Extremum Coding

This paper proposes a new chaos-based extremum coding method to realize a true random number generator (RNG). Based on the chain rule, we innovatively introduce two parameters into the dynamics of chaotic systems to modulate the speed and amplitude of state responses. Then, by discretizing the continuous modulated chaotic system, the corresponding discrete chaotic system can be obtained, which allows the use of low-cost micro-controllers for implementation, enhancing system stability, and reducing costs. Also, a novel chaos-based extremum coding approach is proposed for generating a random extremum-coded sequence (RECS). Using this RECS to switch and decide modulation parameters significantly improves the randomness of the sequences generated by the RNGs. To highlight the contribution of this RNG design, the randomness and security of the RNGs are evaluated by statistical tests such as NIST, Diehard, and ENT. Through comparisons with recent published works, the results show that the proposed chaotic extremum-coded RNG can demonstrate superior performance with a higher level of randomness. © 2013 IEEE.

In this paper, Precision agriculture uses the latest technology like the IOT and Artificial Intelligence to achieve more productivity and better resource utilization than traditional ways, resulting in lower costs and higher yields. The main objective of Precision farming is primarily based on viewing, estimating, and reacting to inter field and intra field interactions of crop with a lot of variation. Wireless technologies have recently advanced to the point that they can now be employed for diversified environmental monitoring applications. Sensors assist farmers in properly utilizing all available resources and applying hazardous goods in a controlled manner. Monkeypox, a rare but potentially fatal viral disease, poses a significant public health challenge due to its potential for outbreaks and complications. Detecting monkeypox lesions early and accurately is vital to effectively manage and control the disease. This study introduces a novel method for classifying monkeypox lesions, employing data augmentation methods and a framework based on an ensemble of three transfer learning models called "SkinMarkNet". The dataset used in this research consists of skin lesion images collected from the Kaggle data repository, encompassing diverse demographics and lesion characteristics. This research uses image data augmentation techniques to tackle the scarcity of annotated data. This augmentation enriches the training dataset, thereby improving the model’s ability to perform effectively. Moreover, the novelty of this research work lies in the usage of three popular transfer learning models(Inception, Xception, and ResNet) for feature extraction and ensemble learning. The SkinMarkNet achieves promising results showing an accuracy of 90.615% for monkeypox lesion classification, outperforming traditional machine learning and deep learning methods utilized in recent research works. In addition, thorough comparative analysis is done with machine learning models and contemporary approaches to validate the efficacy of the proposed method. Overall, the findings underscore the potential of leveraging advanced deep learning architectures and data augmentation strategies for improving monkeypox lesion classification, thereby facilitating early diagnosis and intervention in clinical settings and public health surveillance efforts. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

In recent years, cloud-native applications have been widely hosted and managed in containerized environments due to their unique benefits, such as being lightweight, portable, and cost-efficient. Their growing popularity makes them a common subject of cyberthreats, as evidenced by recent attacks. Many of those attacks take place due to malicious code injection to breach systems and steal sensitive data from a containerized environment. However, existing solutions fail to classify malicious code injection attacks that impact multiple levels (e.g., application and orchestrator). In this paper, we fill in this gap and propose a multi-level monitoring-based approach where we monitor container activities at both the system call level and the container orchestrator (e.g., Kubernetes) level. Specifically, our approach can distinguish between the expected and unexpected behavior of a container from various system call characteristics (e.g., sequence, frequency, etc.) along with the activities through event logs at the orchestrator level to detect malicious code injection attacks. We implement our approach for Kubernetes, a major container orchestrator, and evaluate it against various attack paths outlined by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), an open-source foundation for cloud native computing. © 2024 by SCITEPRESS – science and Technology Publications, Lda.

The ever-evolving Internet of Things (IoT) has ushered in a new era of intelligent manufacturing across multiple industries. However, the security and privacy of real-time data transmitted over the public channel of the industrial IoT (IIoT) remain formidable challenges. Existing lightweight protocols often omit one or more critical security features, such as anonymity and untraceability, and are susceptible to threats like desynchronization attacks. Additionally, they struggle to achieve an optimal balance between robust security and performance efficiency. To bridge these gaps, we introduce a new lightweight key agreement security scheme that guarantees secure access to the IIoT-enabled flexible manufacturing system (FMS). The strength of our scheme lies in its utilization of the authenticated encryption with associative data (AEAD) primitive, AEGIS, along with hash functions and physical unclonable functions, which secure the IIoT ecosystem. Additionally, our scheme offers flexibility in the form of the addition of new machines, password updates, and revocation in cases of theft or loss. A comprehensive security analysis demonstrates the efficacy of the proposed scheme in thwarting various attacks. The formal analysis, based on the Real-Or-Random (RoR) model, ensures session key indistinguishability, while the informal analysis highlights its resilience against known attacks. The comparative assessment demonstrate that the proposed scheme consistently outperforms the benchmark schemes across multiple dimensions, including security and functionality features, computational and communication overheads, and runtime efficiency. Specifically, the proposed scheme achieves peak performance enhancements of 77.55%, 44.73%, and 69.6% in computational overhead, runtime overhead, and communication overhead, respectively, underscoring its substantial performance advantages. © 2025 IEEE.
