In this work, we extend the concept of the p-mean welfare objective from social choice theory to study p-mean regret in stochastic multi-armed bandit problems. The p-mean regret, defined as the difference between the optimal mean among the arms and the p-mean of the expected rewards, offers a flexible framework for evaluating bandit algorithms, enabling algorithm designers to balance fairness and efficiency by adjusting the parameter p. Our framework encompasses both average cumulative regret and Nash regret as special cases. We introduce a simple, unified UCB-based algorithm (EXPLORE-THEN-UCB) that achieves novel p-mean regret bounds. Our algorithm consists of two phases: a carefully calibrated uniform exploration phase to initialize sample means, followed by the UCB1 algorithm of Auer et al. Under mild assumptions, we prove that our algorithm achieves a p-mean regret bound of O∼(rT2k|1p|) for all p ≤ −1, where k represents the number of arms and T the time horizon. When −1 ∼(k43 T−41). For the range 0 ∼(qTk), which matches the previously established lower bound up to logarithmic factors. This result stems from the fact that the p-mean regret of any algorithm is at least its average cumulative regret for p ≤ 1. In the case of Nash regret (the limit as p approaches zero), our unified approach differs from prior work of Barman et al., which requires a new Nash Confidence Bound algorithm. Cyberbullying is a pressing issue in the digital age, especially in non-English-speaking communities. This study focuses on using deep learning techniques to detect cyberbullying in the Bangla language. The research employs a Bangla dataset that includes both cyberbullying and non-cyberbullying text, which undergoes preprocessing, tokenization, and sequence transformation for input into a LSTM recurrent neural network. The LSTM model incorporates word embedding and dropout techniques to enhance its performance. Evaluation metrics like accuracy and AUC-ROC score are employed to assess the model's effectiveness. The study investigates many methods, such as vernacular-specific preparation and data augmenting, that are specifically designed for the identification of cyberbullying in the Bangla language. The findings demonstrate deep learning's capacity to identify cyberbullying in Bangla, which makes a significant contribution to resolving this problem in non-English settings. The research reveals impressive accuracy rates, with LSTM achieving 99.99% accuracy, and a different approach, Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), yielding 99.022%. Ensemble models, including Gradient Boosting, XGBoost, and Random Forest, are also employed and optimized using hyperparameter tuning. Notably, LSTM stands out as the most reliable classifier for cyberbullying detection, as confirmed by the experimental findings and recent research. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Market resilience in turbulent times: a proactive approach to predicting stock market responses during geopolitical tensions

Purpose: The Indian stock market can be tricky when there's trouble in the world, like wars or big conflicts. It's like trying to read a secret message. We want to figure out what makes investors nervous or happy, because their feelings often affect how they buy and sell stocks. We're building a tool to make prediction that uses both numbers and people's opinions. Design/methodology/approach: Hybrid approach leverages Twitter sentiment, market data, volatility index (VIX) and momentum indicators like moving average convergence divergence (MACD) and relative strength index (RSI) to deliver accurate market insights for informed investment decisions during uncertainty. Findings: Our study reveals that geopolitical tensions' impact on stock markets is fleeting and confined to the short term. Capitalizing on this insight, we built a ground-breaking predictive model with an impressive 98.47% accuracy in forecasting stock market values during such events. Originality/value: To the best of the authors' knowledge, this model's originality lies in its focus on short-term impact, novel data fusion and high accuracy. Focus on short-term impact: Our model uniquely identifies and quantifies the fleeting effects of geopolitical tensions on market behavior, a previously under-researched area. Novel data fusion: Combining sentiment analysis with established market indicators like VIX and momentum offers a comprehensive and dynamic approach to predicting market movements during volatile periods. Automakers from Honda to Lamborghini are incorporating voice interaction technology into their vehicles to improve the user experience and offer value-added services. Speech recognition systems are a key component of smart cars, enhancing convenience and safety for drivers and passengers. In the future, safety-critical features may rely on speech recognition, but this raises concerns about children accessing such services. To address this issue, the LimitAccess system is proposed, which uses TinyML for age classification and helps parents limit children’s access to critical speech recognition services. This study employs a lite convolutional neural network (CNN) model for two different reasons: First, CNN showed superior accuracy compared to other audio classification models for age classification problems. Second, the lite model will be integrated into a microcontroller to meet its limited resource requirements. To train and evaluate our model, we created a dataset that included child and adult voices of the keyword "open". The system approach categorizes voices into age groups (child, adult) and then utilizes that categorization to grant access to a car. The robustness of the model was enhanced by adding a new class (recordings) to the dataset, which enabled our system to detect replay and synthetic voice attacks. If an adult voice is detected, access to start the car will be granted. However, if a child’s voice or a recording is detected, the system will display a warning message that educates the child about the dangers and consequences of the improper use of a car. Arduino Nano 33 BLE sensing was our embedded device of choice for integrating our trained, optimized model. Our system achieved an overall F1 score of 87.7% and 85.89% accuracy. LimitAccess detected replay and synthetic voice attacks with an 88% F1 score. © The Author(s) 2023.

The Sign Language Recognition System has been designed to capture video input, process it to detect hand gestures, and translate these gestures into readable text. The project consists of several key components and steps: Video Processing: Using OpenCV, the system captures frames from the video input. MediaPipe processes these frames to detect and track hand landmarks in real time. OpenCV capabilities allow for efficient frame extraction and basic image processing tasks such as resizing and normalization. Hand Detection and Tracking: MediaPipe pre-trained models identify and track hand movements within the video frames. The accurate detection and tracking of the hand movements are critical for the subsequent recognition of the sign language gestures. Sign Language Recognition: The core system is the deep learning model, trained using the TensorFlow and Keras on a dataset of sign language gestures. The model learns to classify the detected hand movements into corresponding sign language characters or words. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) are typically used for task due to their effectiveness in image recognition tasks. Text Display: Once the system recognizes the signs, it converts them into text and displays the output. This can be done through a console output or a graphical user interface (GUI) built with Tkinter. Spectral Graph Convolutional Networks (GCNs) have gained popularity in graph machine learning applications due, in part, to their flexibility in specification of network propagation rules. These propagation rules are often constructed as polynomial filters whose coefficients are learned using label information during training. In contrast to learned polynomial filters, explicit filter functions are useful in capturing relationships between network topology and distribution of labels across the network. A number of algorithms incorporating either approach have been proposed;however the relationship between filter functions and polynomial approximations is not fully resolved. This is largely due to the ill-conditioned nature of the linear systems that must be solved to derive polynomial approximations of filter functions. To address this challenge, we propose a novel Arnoldi orthonormalization-based algorithm, along with a unifying approach, called G-Arnoldi-GCN that can efficiently and effectively approximate a given filter function with a polynomial. We evaluate G-Arnoldi-GCN in the context of multi-class node classification across ten datasets with diverse topological characteristics. Our experiments show that G-Arnoldi-GCN consistently outperforms state-of-the-art methods when suitable filter functions are employed. Overall, G-Arnoldi-GCN opens important new directions in graph machine learning by enabling the explicit design and application of diverse filter functions. Photovoltaic panel used in solar power generation is an environmentally beneficial and sustainable energy source that has been used to transform sunlight into electrical power. Arranged in large solar facilities, these panels are connected to a central inverter, which converts Direct Current (DC) to alternating current (AC) electricity with a small amount of energy loss. Clean surfaces, unhindered light exposure, and high solar irradiance are all necessary for optimal panel performance. It's critical to assess the inverter's efficiency by comparing its AC to DC power. Large-scale installations with sensor-equipped panels and inverters track performance to help with maintenance and forecasting of power generation. The Internet of Things (IoT) facilitates data accessibility and remote monitoring, which helps choose the best location for solar power generation. Smart system continuous monitoring expedites site inspections, which supports urban smart grid integration. In this research study, a hybrid machine learning model is presented by combining the attention processes, long short-term memory (LSTM) networks, and clustering approaches. This model is separated into different phases for forecasting, training, and cloud data clustering, finds pertinent historical data, builds a hybrid machine learning model, and chooses the best training model. In comparison to conventional approaches, this method significantly improves prediction accuracy, which is important for integrating photovoltaic systems into smart grids, particularly in smart cities. © 2024 IEEE.

The microservices are continuously growing in domains of communication using cloud and AI. Access to microservice can be done using any respective cloud environment. Access microservices using cloud require multiple configurations. These configurations can be set up in Kubernetes or containerized environments to lightweight any application which increases the performance of microservices. Multiple requests can create a concurrent call, which causes slow response. Generative AI models can be used to solve concurrent calls. Generative AI used a modular approach for microservice communications with API gateway. This allows microservices to function in a variety of contexts, including cloud, edge devices, and containers. This process refers to a decentralized approach which can only be implemented in the case of microservices and provide improvement in latency along with bandwidth. © 2024 IEEE.

The evolution of human civilization has been intrinsically linked to advancements in technology, leading to the development of multiple languages as mediums of communication. However, this linguistic diversity poses significant challenges in cross-cultural communication. Despite numerous efforts and achieving near state-of-The-Art results in language translation, a universal solution remains elusive. This research study proposes an advanced approach to machine translation by utilizing server-side machine learning to enable seamless communication across various languages. By sending GET or POST requests through JQuery, users can efficiently translate text. The process is structured into three key steps: speech recognition (conversion of spoken words to text), translation using machine learning algorithms, and speech synthesis (conversion of translated text to audio). This approach aims to enhance real-Time translation capabilities, offering a more effective and user-friendly solution for overcoming language barriers. © 2024 IEEE.

American Sign Language (ASL) recognition aims to recognize hand gestures, and it is a crucial solution to communicating between the deaf community and hearing people. However, existing sign language recognition algorithms still have some drawbacks, such as difficulty recognizing hand movements and low recognition accuracy for most sign language recognition. A Modified Convolutional Neural Network (MCNN) deep residual 101 classifier-based American Sign Language identification system has been developed to address this problem. There are three main parts presents in the method. The first part is pre-processing the images to remove the noise, enhance the contrast of the picture, adjust the contrast level and smoothen the picture using various filters. The second part is the segmentation, and it’s used to partition the image using a modified canny edge detection method by removing all weak edges present in the image. Finally, classification will be done using the Modified CNN deep residual 101 classifiers. By classifying the image, the American Sign Language is accurately identified. This process is conducted through images. The outcome shows that the suggested approach has a 0.97% accuracy and a 0.05% False Positive Rate. Other CNN architectures such as resNet 50 and resNet 18 reached 0.90% and 0.80% accuracy, respectively, which is lower than our proposed method. In addition, the resNet 101 classifier effectively recognizes the difficult hand gestures through the image data. It obtains high recognition accuracy for 36 signs is 0 to 9 numbers and a to z alphabets from American Sign Language. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.
