Digital pathology employing Whole Slide Images (WSIs) plays a pivotal role in cancer detection. Nevertheless, the manual examination of WSIs for the identification of various tissue regions presents formidable challenges due to its labor-intensive nature and subjective interpretation. Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) based semantic segmentation algorithms have emerged as valuable tools for assisting in this task by automating ROI delineation. The incorporation of attention modules and carefully designed loss functions has shown promise in further augmenting the performance of these algorithms. However, there exists a notable gap in research regarding the utilization of attention modules specifically for tissue segmentation, thereby constraining our comprehension and application of these modules in this context. This study introduces ETiSeg-Net (Edge-aware self attention to enhance Tissue Segmentation), a CNN-based semantic segmentation model that uses a novel edge-based attention module to achieve effective delineation of class boundaries. In addition, an innovative iterative training strategy is devised to efficiently optimize the model parameters. The study also conducts a comprehensive investigation into the impact of attention modules and loss functions on the efficacy of semantic segmentation models. Qualitative and quantitative evaluations of these semantic segmentation models are conducted using publicly available datasets. The findings underscore the potential of attention modules in enhancing the accuracy and effectiveness of tissue semantic segmentation. © The Author(s) 2024.

This article describes an interactive physical activity system designed to use React Three Fiber to assist patients with hand rehabilitation. The game simulates a virtual environment where rods controlled by motion-sensing devices represent the patient's hand. Through the "Create"function, a sphere can be created from the previous position and the patient must hold their hand firmly within the sphere's boundaries. Adjustable sliders allow optimal control of hold time and sensitivity to adapt to the patient's growth and treatment needs. The game provides immediate visual feedback, encouraging patients to practice stability and mobility, which are essential elements of good physical therapy. The app simulates real-world movements in a virtual environment, creating a controlled environment that provides immediate visual feedback to encourage patients to take action. This technology uses React Three Fiber to create a 3D environment, including writing information for precise control of the stick. This interactive model is designed to not only develop motor skills through consistent, guided exercises, but also to improve overall patient compliance. Through this application, we explore the intersection of play and physical therapy by examining the potential for digital therapy tools to complement and enhance traditional practices This approach uses the appeal of interactive games to potentially increase treatment compliance, making it an important tool in digital therapy. This article discusses the use of React Three Fiber's techniques, methods, and therapeutic potential for physical therapy. © 2025 IEEE.

The increasing popularity of Graph-based neural network architectures plays a pivotal role in providing promising results in applications, viz., Friendship networks, Co-authorship networks, Product recommendations, etc. Many machine learning tasks can be addressed when dealing with graph representation, i.e., graph classification, node classification, link prediction, graph embedding, etc. The traditional rule-based methods have many drawbacks in comparison to graph representation learning, such as it requires manual feature engineering and struggles with unseen cases (generalizability), etc., in the case of rule-based methods. At the same time, graph representation learning overcomes those issues profoundly. The advent of graph-based deep neural network architectures inspired us to complete a graph classification problem to explore clusters of researchers who worked together in academic publications. We built the model by using a graph convolutional network to solve a multi-classification problem. We conducted a comparative study to check the efficacy of graph representation learning by GCNs on the DBLP dataset. In this paper, we discuss the use of machine learning models that can accurately forecast the price of a used car based on its attributes and features. In this study, we look at applying supervised machine learning models to forecast second-hand car prices in India. The forecasts are based on historical information gathered from daily news articles, magazines and from various standard websites. The predictions were made using a variety of models, including Random Forest Regressor, Extra Tree Regressor, Bagging Regressor, Decision Tree and the XG Boost method. The most accurate predictions are then selected after comparing the predictions of the models applied. The five strategies all delivered performance that was almost equivalent but not equal and the results obtained are comparable. There are many distinct properties that can be measured, and it has taken a lot of effort to forecast the outcome with increased reliability and accuracy. These models are compared based on their prediction accuracy to determine which is more accurate. Our findings demonstrate that the Random Forest model produces the greatest outcomes. © 2023 IEEE.

This research addresses the pressing global demand for food by leveraging cutting-edge deep learning techniques for automating plant disease detection. Focusing on tomato and potato leaf diseases, the study utilized the PlantVillage dataset to compare classical machine learning methods, such as Local Binary Patterns (LBP) combined with classifiers like kNN, SVM, and Extreme Learning Machines, against modern Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architectures. These included MobileNet, DenseNet201, ResNet50, Inception V3, and VGG16/19. A custom-designed CNN model was developed with unique configurations implemented using Keras and TensorFlow. The model was tested for binary, 6-class, and 10-class classifications, achieving remarkable accuracy rates of 99.6%, 98.4%, and 97.2%, respectively. Notably, after 50 training epochs, the model achieved a peak accuracy of 99.78% for plant disease classification. A practical web-based application was also developed, integrating the best-performing model to facilitate real-time leaf disease detection and notify farmers via email. This approach demonstrates a significant advancement in sustainable agriculture by providing an efficient, accurate, and scalable solution for early disease detection, which is critical for improving crop yield and productivity. © 2025 IEEE.

Effective monitoring of the environment over a large area will require mobilization of a considerable amount of information. Otherwise, the use of traditional methods will prove to be costly and would take up so much time. Also, assessing the land cover changes between two times is one of the other methods which can be adopted to measure the environmental sustainability. Using ML techniques for predictive modeling in remote sensing has emerged as a useful approach in solving some of the environmental and climatic challenges. This research proposes a novel method in remote sensing image-based climate detection utilizing cloud computing and machine learning algorithms. Here, the cloud computing module is used in the collection of remote sensing images for the detection of climate changes. Then, the collected image is processed for noise removal as well as normalization. The processed image is segmented, and features are extracted utilizing a fuzzy K-clustering-based contour Gaussian model with graph cut Boltzmann CNN. Experimental analysis is carried out for various remote sensing-based climate change datasets in terms of training accuracy, random precision, AUC, recall, and F-measure. The proposed technique obtained 97% of training accuracy, 95% of random precision, 96% of recall, 93% of AUC, and 94% of F-measure. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Cancers have emerged as a significant concern due to their impact on public health and society. The examination and interpretation of tissue sections stained with Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) play a crucial role in disease assessment, particularly in cases like gastric cancer. Microsatellite instability (MSI) is suggested to contribute to the carcinogenesis of specific gastrointestinal tumors. However, due to the nonspecific morphology observed in H&E-stained tissue sections, MSI determination often requires costly evaluations through various molecular studies and immunohistochemistry methods in specialized molecular pathology laboratories. Despite the high cost, international guidelines recommend MSI testing for gastrointestinal cancers. Thus, there is a pressing need for a new diagnostic modality with lower costs and widespread applicability for MSI detection. This study aims to detect MSI directly from H&E histology slides in gastric cancer, providing a cost-effective alternative. The performance of well-known deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) and a proposed architecture are compared. Medical image datasets are typically smaller than benchmark datasets like ImageNet, necessitating the use of off-the-shelf DCNN architectures developed for large datasets through techniques such as transfer learning. Designing an architecture proportional to a custom dataset can be tedious and may not yield desirable results. In this work, we propose an automatic method to extract a lightweight and efficient architecture from a given heavy architecture (e.g., well-known off-the-shelf DCNNs) proportional to a specific dataset. To predict MSI instability, we extracted the MicroNet architecture from the Xception network using the proposed method and compared its performance with other well-known architectures. Chronic diseases like chronic respiratory diseases, diabetes, heart disease (HD) and cancer are the important causes of mortality globally. The diagnosis of Heart-related diseases with a variety of symptoms or characteristics is incredibly complex. Internet of Things (loT) embedded solution has improved with the increase in smart wearable devices. However, people who undergo heart attacks unexpectedly have poor survival rates. As a result, an Internet of Things based Multi-Perceptron Q-Network (MQN)-based monitoring program is suggested for cardiac patients to assist in identifying heart disease and administering medication appropriately. The technology based on MQN is used to securely encrypt this sensor data before sending it to the cloud. The encrypted and decrypted data is eventually done and MQN classifier is used to complete the classification process. The two categories of data that make up the classified outcomes are i) regular and ii) irregular. It indicates the individual's cardiac status, and if the results are peculiar, the doctor is notified via text so that the patient can receive treatment. When compared to current algorithms, the MQN for HD diagnosis exhibits better enhancement in the estimated investigational results. Furthermore, when contrasted against the current MQN, the introduced Multi-layered Perceptron (MLP) system facilitates safe data transmission yields the maximum security level of 96%, and is accomplished in the shortest amount of time for both decryption and encryption. © 2025 IEEE.
