Intrumer:A Multi Module Distributed Explainable IDS/IPS for Securing Cloud Environment

The increasing use of cloud-based devices has reached the critical point of cybersecurity and unwanted network *** environments pose significant challenges in maintaining privacy and *** approaches,such as IDS,have been developed to tackle these ***,most conventional Intrusion Detection System(IDS)models struggle with unseen cyberattacks and complex high-dimensional *** fact,this paper introduces the idea of a novel distributed explainable and heterogeneous transformer-based intrusion detection system,named INTRUMER,which offers balanced accuracy,reliability,and security in cloud settings bymultiplemodulesworking together within *** traffic captured from cloud devices is first passed to the TC&TM module in which the Falcon Optimization Algorithm optimizes the feature selection process,and Naie Bayes algorithm performs the classification of *** selected features are classified further and are forwarded to the Heterogeneous Attention Transformer(HAT)*** this module,the contextual interactions of the network traffic are taken into account to classify them as normal or malicious *** classified results are further analyzed by the Explainable Prevention Module(XPM)to ensure trustworthiness by providing interpretable *** the explanations fromthe classifier,emergency alarms are transmitted to nearby IDSmodules,servers,and underlying cloud devices for the enhancement of preventive *** experiments on benchmark IDS datasets CICIDS 2017,Honeypots,and NSL-KDD were conducted to demonstrate the efficiency of the INTRUMER model in detecting network trafficwith high accuracy for different *** outperforms state-of-the-art approaches,obtaining better performance metrics:98.7%accuracy,97.5%precision,96.3%recall,and 97.8%*** results validate the robustness and effectiveness of INTRUMER in securing diverse cloud environments against sophisticated cyber threats.

Modified Bat Algorithm: a newly proposed approach for solving complex and real-world problems

Bat Algorithm (BA) is a nature-inspired metaheuristic search algorithm designed to efficiently explore complex problem spaces and find near-optimal solutions. The algorithm is inspired by the echolocation behavior of bats, which acts as a signal system to estimate the distance and hunt prey. Although the BA has proven effective for various optimization problems, it exhibits limited exploration ability and susceptibility to local optima. The algorithm updates velocities and positions based on the current global best solution, causing all agents to converge toward a specific location, potentially leading to local optima issues in optimization problems. On this premise, this paper proposes the Modified Bat Algorithm (MBA) as an enhancement to address the local optima limitation observed in the original BA. MBA incorporates the frequency and velocity of the current best solution, enhancing convergence speed to the optimal solution and preventing local optima entrapment. While the original BA faces diversity issues, both the original BA and MBA are introduced. To assess MBA’s performance, three sets of test functions (classical benchmark functions, CEC2005, and CEC2019) are employed, with results compared to those of the original BA, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Genetic Algorithm (GA), and Dragonfly Algorithm (DA). The outcomes demonstrate the MBA’s significant superiority over other algorithms. In addition, MBA successfully addresses a real-world assignment problem (call center problem), traditionally solved using linear programming methods, with satisfactory results. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Highly transparent anti-reflection coating enhances the underwater efficiency and stability of perovskite solar modules

Perovskite solar cells have shown great potential in the field of underwater solar cells due to their excellent optoelectronic properties;however,their underwater performance and stability still hinder their practical *** this research,a 1H,1H,2H,2H-heptadecafluorodecyl acrylate(HFDA)anti-reflection coating(ARC)was introduced as a high-transparent material for encapsulating perovskite solar modules(PSMs).Optical characterization results revealed that HFDA can effectively reduce reflection of light below 800 nm,aiding in the absorption of light within this wavelength range by underwater solar ***,a remarkable efficiency of 14.65%was achieved even at a water depth of 50 ***,the concentration of Pb^(2+)for HFDA-encapsulated film is significantly reduced from 186 to 16.5 ppb after being immersed in water for 347 ***,the encapsulated PSMs still remained above 80%of their initial efficiency after continuous underwater illumination for 400 ***,being exposed to air,the encapsulated PSMs maintained 94%of their original efficiency after 1000 h light *** highly transparent ARC shows great potentials in enhancing the stability of perovskite devices,applicable not only to underwater cells but also extendable to land-based photovoltaic devices.

Hybrid Deep Learning Approach for Sentiment Analysis on Twitter data

Social media is nowadays a vital platform where people can share their feelings about any incident, product, or any issue. Twitter is one of those platforms which are very popular. If we must make use of this to extract some information and to use that to make recommendation systems, to know the mental status of any person or to find the review, we have to perform the sentiment analysis of those tweets. Recently, deep learning approaches emerged as powerful computational models that discover intricate semantic representations of texts automatically from data without feature engineering. This present work discusses how to find the sentiments from a stream of tweets from the twitter, blogging site subjected to pre-processing and classification supported on emotion of the subject matter as "POSITIVE" or "NEGATIVE". We have used a twitter dataset of 1.6 million data consisting of general tweets on various domains with 800,000 POSITIVE and 800,000 NEGATIVE sentiments. We have developed 3 models with Recurrent Neural Network (RNN), Bi-directional RNN, Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM). Our work focuses on the way which will help us to understand the basic sentiment of people which they want to express by their tweets, comment, or blogs. We have obtained highest accuracy of 83.50%, F1 score of 84.60% from our model with LSTM architecture in analysing the sentiment. LSTMs are specifically designed to address the vanishing gradient problem that occurs in traditional RNNs when learning long-term dependencies. In sentiment analysis, understanding the sentiment of a tweet may require capturing dependencies between words that are spread across a potentially long sequence. RagaMoodSync presents an innovative framework for personalized music therapy through Hindustani Raga recommendations based on facial emotion recognition. Utilizing a Fusion-DenseNet (FusDenseNet) architecture with advanced multi-pooling for emotion detection, the system achieves high precision in identifying user moods. Integrated with a Focus Deep Collaborative Filtering (FDCF) recommendation system, RagaMoodSync delivers tailored raga suggestions that address emotional well-being and stress management. Validated with the FER2013 dataset, the framework demonstrates superior performance over existing approaches. Rice spikelet’s disease detection using hybrid optimization model and optimized CNN

Rice fields all across the world are affected by spikelet sterility, often known as rice spikelet's disease. It is characterized by the improper development of spikelet’s, which lowers grain output and quality. For optimal management and the avoidance of yield losses, this disease must be discovered early. In this study, a deep learning-based approach utilizing optimization techniques was proposed for accurate segmentation and disease detection in rice crops. The research aimed to address the vulnerability of rice crops to disease attacks from seed germination to mature spikelets. The proposed model consisted of three major phases: pre-processing, segmentation, feature extraction and disease detection. Gaussian filtering was employed to preprocess the raw rice crop images, while a new hybrid Whale Customized Gravitational Optimization Algorithm was utilized for segmentation. Disease detection was performed using a hybrid deep learning model called HybridNet, which combines convolutional neural networks (CNN) with an optimized recurrent neural network (RNN) model. The dataset intended for this proposed project is sourced from the CABI PlantwisePlus Knowledge Bank. The proposed model for rice spikelet disease detection achieved high accuracy with Sensitivity (0.9269), Specificity (0.9756), and Accuracy (0.9634). This indicates that the model effectively identifies and detects diseases in rice spikelets, demonstrating its reliable performance in disease management and crop protection. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

AGBUNet: an enhanced CNN-UNET architecture for the prediction of above ground biomass using deep learning

Accurate prediction of above ground biomass (AGB) is critical for monitoring forest health and carbon cycling. It is crucial for understanding and managing forest ecosystems. In this paper, we propose an enhanced framework combining convolutional neural network (CNN) and UNet, termed AGBUNet, specifically designed for predicting AGB using remote sensing data. The framework consists of separate CNNs for processing each type of image, whose outputs are subsequently fused in a UNet architecture to enhance prediction accuracy. These modifications include customized convolutional layers, advanced preprocessing techniques, and a novel integration of data prompts from separate Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 image processing streams. The AGBUNet integrates Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 images to leverage complementary information from synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and optical sensors. This study underscores the potential of the AGBUNet model for enhancing biomass estimation from remote sensing data, contributing to better forest management and ecological monitoring. The performance measures obtained are compared with the other models, and the following results are obtained as follows for MSE value of 298.25, RMSE value of 15.27 and MAE value of 12.21, and the values are satisfying compared with earlier benchmarks. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

A verifiable multi-secret image sharing scheme based on DNA encryption

A multi-secret image sharing (MSIS) scheme facilitates the secure distribution of multiple images among a group of participants. Several MSIS schemes have been proposed with a (n, n) structure that encodes secret input images into n share images. This encoding ensures that if a subset of participants collude, no information about the secret images can be revealed. The secret images can only be recovered if all participants cooperate. Most of these schemes are built using basic Boolean operations, primarily XOR operations. MSIS schemes that rely on Boolean logic offer various benefits compared to other methods, such as the ability to recover data without any loss, no increase in pixel size, and efficient computation. This article presents a verifiable MSIS scheme that relies on a secure two-variable one-way function and a secure hash function. The scheme allows for independent verification of both the dealer and the participants to detect any cheating attempts. The proposed scheme utilizes the Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) encryption technique to leverage the inherent benefits of DNA computing, such as enhanced security, fast computation, minimal storage needs, and low power usage. The share images produced by the proposed scheme exhibit an average entropy of 7.99, indicating that the generated 8-bit share images are completely random. Additionally, the correlation coefficient is approximately 0.005, suggesting that neighboring pixels in the images are not related to each other. The proposed scheme can detect any instance of cheating, whether it is done by the dealer or by a participant. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Relay Type Link Fabrication Attack in SDN: A Review

Software-defined Networking (SDN) is an innovative network architecture tailored to address the modern demands of network virtualization and cloud computing, which require features such as programmability, flexibility, agility, and openness to foster innovation. However, this architecture also brings forth new security challenges, particularly due to the separation of the data plane from the control plane. Our investigation centers on a specific vulnerability termed link fabrication, which can lead to topology poisoning. A compromised network topology can cause substantial disruptions across the entire network infrastructure. Through a systematic survey, we identified that significant research efforts have been directed towards mitigating link fabrication attacks. We classified the existing studies into six categories of vulnerabilities: Host-based, port amnesia, invisible assailant attack, topology freezing, switch-based link fabrication, and link latency. Furthermore, our survey highlights several open challenges in areas such as Programmable dataplane, dedicated attack trees and threat models, active defense and mitigation strategies, as well as controller awareness and machine learning. To address the vulnerabilities identified, we propose the implementation of a distance-bounding protocol concept at the control plane as a potential solution. © 2019 IEEE.

AGG: attention-based gated convolutional GAN with prior guidance for image inpainting

Image inpainting has made great achievements recently, but it is often tough to generate a semantically consistent image when faced with large missing areas in complex scenes. To address semantic and structural alignment in existing methods for image inpainting, this paper proposes an end-to-end attention-based gated convolution GAN with prior guidance named AGG, which designs the spatial and channel attention mechanisms for full extraction of semantic and structural features. Moreover, AGG constructs the attention-based upsampling module based on the channel attention to refine the feature map and capture more details from features of up-level low sizes. AGG uses the image contour as prior, allowing the gated convolution and attention mechanism may fill the image efficiently by focusing on the contour information. The attention-based gated convolution can effectively capture the global features and compensate for the limitations of the restricted receptive field of the naive convolution. Compared to other models, AGG generates images with finer outline features and no common problems such as the watermark and blur, which shows the best overall performance on the Paris StreetView, CelebA-HQ, and Places2 datasets. The best FID, LPIPS, PSNR, and SSIM values achieved by AGG are 2.18, 0.046, 30.82, and 0.951 on the CelebA-HQ dataset, with at least 3.21% and 6.52% performance improvement on FID and LPIPS compared to state-of-the-art methods, respectively.
