The goal of this project is to draw a deeper understanding of the subjective nature behind online product reviews, largely by examining a large dataset received from Amazon that contains numerous star ratings and comments. Since there is such a massive amount of data on the Amazon platform, it was perfect for the analysis. Our methodology is platform-agnostic and can be easily extended to other comparable datasets from other web platforms with comparable guarantees in achieving wide applicability. Our primary motivation is improving the dependability of online shopping. Since product reviews are currently widely used by many consumers as guides in making decisions to buy products, such reviews ought to be fair representations of the actual dependability and quality of the products. The goal of our effort is to identify patterns in the language and ratings of such reviews that would directly reflect the real customer sentiment and also the reliability of the product. Our approach has yielded already a rate of about 92%, which shows it has the potential greatly to raise the legitimacy of online reviews. We'd like to make our customers feel more confident and better equipped with information to make better and safer purchases on a website like Amazon and others. The basis of this project is to investigate whether the YOLO, an object detection algorithm where 'You Only Look Once' constitutes the name, could be applied to develop FMCG management;together with the management of FMCG, it becomes the gateway to increasing retail precision, efficiency, and agility. Under real-time processing, the system detects and counts FMCG products on retail shelves with an accuracy rate of 92.5%. This accuracy ensures that the optimum stock levels are maintained and there will be no discrepancies. The system processes video feeds at 0.08 seconds per frame, thus allowing inventory data to be updated in real-time to enable quick, data-driven decisions. YOLO's flexibility ensures consistent performance across different store layouts and product types. This system integrates with other retail management tools and allows integrating inventory data in the real time. This means that it would be made available with invaluable insights which would prevent stock depletion while helping to curtail costs. This project takes YOLO ahead of just being a game changer in the FMCG inventory management while operating to reduce expenses and customer satisfaction due to product availability. © 2024 IEEE.

The surging popularity of online movie databases has created a challenge for viewers: choosing a film from a massive library can be overwhelming. In this paper, it proposes to design a new hybrid movie recommendation powered by machine learning techniques as a solution to improve user experience. Among those techniques, two are combined into this paper: content-based filtering, using the real features of a movie such as genre and a director, and collaborative filtering, which uses the rating provided by users. This hybrid approach thus improves the intrinsic weaknesses that reside in both these methods individually. On the other hand, content-based filtering tends to reduce exploration to movies of the exact type one is doing well at, whereas, inversely, collaborative filtering settings often mean that a user will be exposed only to films within his or her already-recognized taste profile. It is expected that the proposed hybrid system will solve both problems by balancing this line between exploring familiar cinematic territory and making new recommendations based on both user preferences and the entire collective intelligence of the user base. The approach would aim to enrich user satisfaction by facilitating the selection of movies and providing a richer and more diversified movie-viewing experience. © 2024 IEEE.

Youth unemployment represents an urgent global socioeconomic challenge. This study combines machine learning and exploratory data analysis to understand and solve this problem comprehensively. Traditional approaches often rely on qualitative assessments and historical data requiring a data-driven transition to more effective solutions. Our approach integrates machine learning algorithms and Exploratory data Analysis techniques to analyze diverse data sets, identify influencing factors, and recommend targeted interventions. The analysis process includes data collection, preprocessing, feature selection, machine learning modeling, and Exploratory data Analysis techniques to understand the dynamics of the Better understanding unemployment among young people. Preliminary results reveal precise predictive patterns and previously unrecognized relationships, providing evidence-based solutions to inform policy and support the economic well-being of younger generations. Further research and validation are needed to increase applicability. © 2023 IEEE.

The growing prominence of wind energy as an eco-friendly power alternative amplifies the need for optimal turbine performance. Central to this is the ability to accurately predict and modulate the wind turbine pitch. Our research focuses on integrating adaptive control strategies with advanced power generation analytics to enhance pitch prediction precision. We have processed and analyzed vast amounts of wind data using state-of-the-art data analytics to discern patterns in wind velocity changes accurately. The continuous stream of real-time data is the backbone of our adaptive controls, ensuring perpetual pitch adjustments that optimize energy capture. In tandem with this, we present a thorough analysis linking momentary wind shifts to power production, ensuring consistent and efficient power output. The culmination of these methodologies offers a breakthrough solution in wind energy optimization. Preliminary results highlight the paramount importance of real-time data analytics in revolutionizing green energy advancements. © 2023 IEEE.

Abstract: In the aftermath of the fourth industrial revolution, artificial intelligence and big data technology have been used in various fields in South Korea, and the techniques are being applied to, and are complemented by, various service fields in which they had not been introduced before. Especially in order to secure credit stability for companies borrowing from financial institutions, and to preemptively respond to risks, attempts to forecast the possibility of bankruptcy and adopt the forecasts into the actual business are actively conducted by major domestic banks by using online news articles and social networking site data. In this study, we suggest a specified step added to the established machine language analysis processes for opinion mining using massive amounts of text, and we provide an essential tool for it. Also, we designed an algorithm for diagnosing corporate bankruptcy, which has never been proposed in the related research area. Through deep exploratory data analysis and domain-specific data analysis, we implement a rule-based automatic tagger for labeling massive amounts of unlabeled news articles and have devised a novel prediction algorithm. As a result, we achieved 92% accuracy, with an area under the curve of 0.96 with respect to performance, and a hit ratio of 50% among the 26 candidates on a list predicted by financial data analysis. Thus, we recognize that the result of our study is sufficiently complementary to financial data analysis in performance and values, but several limitations remain, such as data coverage, reliability, and incompleteness due to linguistic characteristics. Human beings are susceptible to diseases caused by a variety of reasons. The causal factors for diseases include microorganisms (viruses and bacteria), environmental factors and largely, genetics. As most diseases are caused by the genes of a particular living organism, it is necessary to analyze the genetic characteristics to treat the disease effectively. The genetics analysis is done in this research using protein–protein interaction network (PPI), which contains information on a gene’s interaction with other genes of a particular living organism. Using the PPI network, new genes for a particular disease can be discovered by applying the shortest path algorithm on the PPI network, given that genes reside next to one another in the network. Consequently, the shortest path algorithm that is executed on the PPI network will retrieve the most similar genes that are related to a particular disease. From the retrieved candidate genes, irrelevant genes are filtered out and the remaining are taken as novel genes. © 2018 Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature

Global adoption of wind energy continues to increase, while improving the efficiency of turbine settings requires reliable wind speed (WS) models. The latest models rely on artificial intelligence (AI) optimizations which constructs tests on a range of novel hybrid models to examine the reliability. Gradient Boosting (GB), Random Forest (RF), and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) are used in new combinations for data pre-processing. A Time Varying Filter-based Empirical Mode Decomposition (TVFEMD) model is coupled with the GB and LSTM standalone models, to create TVFEMD-GB and TVFEMD-LSTM hybrids, which are run in competition with each other. Eventually, a preferred hybrid form is established, simultaneous hybridization of TVFEMD with GB and LSTM. This study is the first to hybridize these fundamental systems, and create a TVFEMD-GB-LSTM model that can forecast WS. This study finds that the novel hybrid models exhibit superior performance to standalone GB and LSTM models, opening the pathway to alternative WS prediction techniques. © 2024 The Authors

The conventional wind forecasting methods often struggle to handle the non-stationary and inconsistent wind patterns. This paper presents a hybrid method of Empirical Wavelet Transform (EWT) and Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) for wind speed modeling to overcome the forecasting challenges. The EWT method transforms the original wind speed series into several independent modes and a residual series. In addition, the DRL method is utilised to optimise the weights associated with three distinct supervised deep learning models, i.e., Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), Convolutional Neural Networks with LSTM (CNN-LSTM), and CNN with Gated Recurrent Units (CNN-GRU). The performance of the proposed EWT-DRL is evaluated against deep learning models, including LSTM, CNN-LSTM, CNN-GRU, and their coupling with EWT. The combination of EWT and the DRL (EWT-DRL) method achieves a Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of 0.151, a Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 0.060, a Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) of 0.192, and a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.9913. These results indicate the effectiveness of EWT-DRL in improving accuracy for wind speed modeling. © 2025 The Author(s). Published by Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

When crowds give you lemons: Filtering innovative ideas using a diverse-bag-of-lemons strategy

Following successful crowd ideation contests, organizations in search of the "next big thing" are left with hundreds of ideas. Expert-based idea filtering is lengthy and costly;therefore, crowd-based strategies are often employed. Unfortunately, these strategies typically (1) do not separate the mediocre from the excellent, and (2) direct all the attention to certain idea concepts, while others starve. We introduce DBLemons – a crowd-based idea filtering strategy that addresses these issues by (1) asking voters to identify the worst rather than the best ideas using a "bag of lemons" voting approach, and (2) by exposing voters to a wider idea spectrum, thanks to a dynamic diversity-based ranking system balancing idea quality and coverage. We compare DBLemons against two state-of-the-art idea filtering strategies in a real-world setting. Results show that DBLemons is more accurate, less time-consuming, and reduces the idea space in half while still retaining 94% of the top ideas. © 2018 Association for Computing Machinery.
