Smart Grids (SG) rely on Home Area Networks (HAN) and Neighborhood Area Networks (NAN) to ensure efficient power distribution, real-time monitoring, and seamless communication between smart devices. Despite these advantages, the use of public communication channels in HAN and NAN networks introduces critical challenges, such as vulnerability to impersonation, physical tampering, and scalability issues in resource-constrained environments. These issues compromise the stability, reliability, and security of SG environments. Existing protocols often fail to adequately address these challenges, particularly in ensuring resistance to physical tampering of supply lines and impersonation attacks. Additionally, they struggle to minimize the computation, communication, and energy costs associated with securing a resource-constrained SG environment. Therefore, we propose a robust key exchange and tamper-resistant protocol for HAN and NAN networks to address these limitations. The proposed protocol leverages the Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) mechanism to offer physical tampering resistance to smart meters. We validate our protocol formally using the Random or Real (RoR) model, which confirms its security robustness. Additionally, our informal security analysis highlights the protocol's resilience against impersonation, physical tampering attacks, etc. We analyze and compare the performance of the proposed protocol, which further demonstrates our protocol's effectiveness and security compared to competing protocols. Moreover, the proposed protocol achieves resource efficiency with 45.99% and 58.85% substantial reductions in computation overhead and energy overhead, respectively, compared to competing protocols. These results showcase the protocol's enhanced security and practicality for resource-constrained SG environments. © 2014 IEEE.

There has been an effort to construct hierarchical molecular structures that mimic living cells. For this purpose, a microfluidic system to generate monodisperse giant unilamellar vesicles (GUVs) is expected to be a standardized platform. Here, we studied the dynamics of DNA condensate formation, as a mimic of the nucleus, in monodisperse GUVs generated by our microfluidic system. Encapsulated DNA nanostars undergo liquid-liquid phase separation within GUVs in a sequence-dependent manner. We clarified the dependence on time and sticky end (SE) length in addition to the concentration control of components such as DNA oligomers and salt. © 2023 IEEJ.

Dispersed computing is a new resourcecentric computing *** to its high degree of openness and decentralization,it is vulnerable to attacks,and security issues have become an important challenge hindering its *** trust evaluation technology is of great significance to the reliable operation and security assurance of dispersed computing *** this paper,a dynamic Bayesian-based comprehensive trust evaluation model is proposed for dispersed computing ***,in the calculation of direct trust,a logarithmic decay function and a sliding window are introduced to improve the *** the calculation of indirect trust,a random screening method based on sine function is designed,which excludes malicious nodes providing false reports and multiple malicious nodes colluding ***,the comprehensive trust value is dynamically updated based on historical interactions,current interactions and momentary *** experiments are introduced to verify the performance of the *** with existing model,the proposed trust evaluation model performs better in terms of the detection rate of malicious nodes,the interaction success rate,and the computational cost.

Aiming at the unbalanced problem of big data classification, this paper proposes a classification method of unbalanced data on the ground of Bayesian optimal neural network model. The method firstly uses Optimized Graph Convolutional Network (OGCN) network to carry out message passing mechanism in data graph, designs neural network model with self-attention pooling and mean maximization pooling, and then uses Bayes optimization to update the posterior probability of optimization function by constantly updating the probability model and evaluating the objective function. Effectively solve the problem of speed and optimal solution of hyperparameter optimization in the neural network model. Secondly, the model is used for data set training to obtain the weight of the entire network. Secondly, the unbalanced data is mixed sampling to reduce the number of negative samples. Finally, the capability of the model was verified on the CiteSeer dataset. Experimental results showed that the accuracy rate, accuracy rate and recall rate of the proposed algorithm were 0.974, 0.982 and 0.973, respectively, which effectively improved the accuracy rate, accuracy rate and recall rate of unbalanced data classification compared with other algorithms. © 2024, Taiwan Ubiquitous Information CO LTD. To create a future society based on cyber-physical systems, we need real-time digital twins made with cameras and sensors. The challenge is making this energy-efficient. A model in [1] suggests dividing video analysis tasks among terminals, edge servers, and cloud servers to minimize power consumption. This paper addresses energy optimization in dynamic environments with a two-level approach: detecting and categorizing environmental changes (LEC and SEC) and using a two-level adaptive evolutionary algorithm (TAEA) to make corresponding adjustments. A case study with a differential evolution algorithm demonstrates its effectiveness in minimizing energy costs and improving processing accuracy and latency violations. © 2024 IEEE.

The Smart Power Grid (SPG) is pivotal in orchestrating and managing demand response in contemporary smart cities, leveraging the prowess of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). Within the immersive SPG environment, the ubiquitous deployment of smart meters stands as a testament to their paramount importance in the realm of vigilant monitoring and oversight. These smart meters are installed on high-tension electricity lines and transmit information about electricity outages and other issues to the utility center. To access services from utility centers, smart meters need to communicate securely over a public channel, even though the network itself is insecure. However, potential attacks from adversaries ( Ad) can exploit this communication. Therefore, protecting this communication is of utmost importance. Several privacy-preserving authentication protocols designed for SPG have been introduced in the literature. Nevertheless, a significant number of these protocols exhibit vulnerabilities to diverse security attacks. This article introduces a lightweight and anonymous authentication protocol specifically designed to address these concerns in the SPG environment. Our protocol ensures both security and efficiency, surpassing other comparable protocols in terms of its lightweight nature. By employing both formal and informal analysis, we showcase the robustness of our protocol against significant attacks while remaining lightweight. The proposed protocol provides added security features and incurs 23.8879% lower computation cost than related protocols. Consequently, our protocol is highly suitable for implementation in the SPG system. © 2020 IEEE.

Cengong County is a traditional agricultural county in Guizhou province. Extreme temperature difference between day and night has a significant impact on the development of local agriculture. In order to analyze the distribution characteristics of extreme day-night temperature difference in the local area, a Generalized Extreme Value(GEV) model was constructed. Firstly, according to the relevant theory of GEV modeling, this paper extracts the daily temperature difference between day and night in Cengong County from 1960 to 2022, takes one year as the grouping unit, and calculates the maximum value in each group, so as to obtain the sample data needed for modeling. Then, the Maximum Likelihood Estimation(MLE) and Profile Likelihood Estimation(PLE) are used to solve the model parameter estimates. Secondly, the grouping length has a significant impact on the accuracy of the model, so the stability of the model under different grouping intervals is analyzed. The last, the return level is calculated under the different return period. The results showed that the maximum temperature difference between day and night in Cengong County obeyed Weibull distribution with an upper limit, and the theoretical upper limit was 26.819C°. The model had good extrapolation ability. © 2024 IEEE.

3D-LSI techniques are proven to be effective in improving performance without miniaturization of transistors. However, 3D-LSI have problems in heat dissipation, especially in 3D-LSI without TSV. An example is the stacked chips where communication among chips is done wirelessly. It is difficult to dissipate the heat generated by layers not connected to the substrate or the cooler. This is because thermal conduction through TSVs becomes impossible. Therefore, thermal management technology is necessary in the TSV-less 3D stacked chips. In this paper, we investigate the effect of multiple heating sources on each other by simulation. Based on the simulation results, we considered the distance between multiple high heat- sources in the proposed method to further reduce the highest temperature in the chip. In addition, we also designed a task migration algorithm when heat source cross-layer migration is allowed. This improved algorithm can select better task migration targets to reduce the generation of hotspots without changing the overall performance of the chip. Simulation verification was conducted using a commercial thermal analysis software. The results show that our approach can reduce the maximum temperature in the chip by 3-7°C when only intra-layer migration is allowed, and by more than 30°C when cross-layer migration of tasks is allowed. © 2023 IEEE.

Genetic algorithms become widely used in various optimization as a nature-inspired algorithm. This biological-based algorithm includes three genetic operators: selection, crossover or recombination, and mutation. In this study, the genetic operator processed neural network parameters, including the weight and bias. Three-ray sensors with different directions input data into the neural network. We applied the method to autonomous boats for pathfinding responding to dynamic environment challenges. Generally, autonomous boats face difficulty in path-finding in dynamic environments. To evaluate the method, we experimented with the scenario of the static and dynamic environment (with wave surface) in a three-dimensional simulation platform. The hyperparameter of layer number and mutation rate variation were used. The results showed that the method was useful in pathfinding in static and dynamic environments. © 2023 IEEE.

The authors investigate the potential of pulsed power technology in recycling of E-waste. Applying the pulsed discharge can separate composite materials into plastic and metal. In this study, pulsed discharge was applied to indium tin oxide (ITO) coated plastic films. We used two electrode types: rod-To-rod electrode and a pair of flat plate electrodes to investigate the effect of electrode structure on the metal removal area in detail. A series of single pulse discharges were applied at various electrode distances. As a result, it was revealed that metal can be removed over a wide range by the pulsed discharge using a pair of flat plate electrodes. When the gap between the electrodes was 30 mm, the removal area by the flat plate electrodes was approximately 3.4 times that by the rod electrodes. Analysis of the current density also revealed that the metal removal area was greatly affected by the current density. © 2024 Eindhoven University of technology.
