Cancer is a formidable andmultifaceted disease driven by genetic aberrations and metabolic *** 19% of cancer-related deaths worldwide are attributable to lung and colon cancer,which is also the top cause of death *** malignancy has a terrible 5-year survival rate of 19%.Early diagnosis is critical for improving treatment outcomes and survival *** study aims to create a computer-aided diagnosis(CAD)that accurately diagnoses lung disease by classifying histopathological *** uses a publicly accessible dataset that includes 15,000 images of benign,malignant,and squamous cell carcinomas in the *** addition,this research employs multiscale processing to extract relevant image features and conducts a comprehensive comparative analysis using four Convolutional Neural network(CNN)based on pre-trained models such as AlexNet,VGG(Visual Geometry Group)16,ResNet-50,and VGG19,after hyper-tuning these models by optimizing factors such as batch size,learning rate,and *** proposed(CNN+VGG19)model achieves the highest accuracy of 99.04%.This outstanding performance demonstrates the potential of the CAD system in accurately classifying lung cancer histopathological *** study contributes significantly to the creation of a more precise CNN-based model for lung cancer identification,giving researchers and medical professionals in this vital sector a useful tool using advanced deep learning techniques and publicly available datasets.

Studies on eye tracking have relied on wearable eye trackers and chin-resting eye trackers, but the high cost of equipment and the need to wear devices during experiments can lead to less natural facial movement. This study collected eye-tracking data by using a raw-video camera without adjusting any parameters. Python was used as the primary programming language. Eye tracking was adjusted through calculations of facial distance, and multitask cascaded convolutional networks were used to collect eye-tracking data. The corrected results were visualized, and linear regression was used to determine correction error. The root mean square error was 221.66, and the mean squared error was 260.48. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2024.

A Reinforcement Learning Approach for Routing in Marine Communication network of Fishing Vessels

The lack of affordable communication facilities to the shore remains a fundamental problem for fishermen engaged in deep-sea fishing. The Offshore Communication network (OCN) is a wireless network of fishing vessels, whose goal is to provide Internet over the ocean. However, the dynamic nature of OCNs characterized by extreme weather, the difficulty of deploying additional infrastructure, wave-induced vessel movements, and high mobility causes significant challenges for traditional routing protocols. This paper proposes OCN-AR, a Q-learning-based adaptive routing strategy for ocean networks. The quality of the learning process relies on the reward function, which has been carefully designed to incorporate the most important features, including real-time forecasts of connectivity quality, path probability, link availability duration, and distance to the destination. The routing performance is evaluated through extensive simulations conducted under diverse conditions, including varying mobility scenarios, transmission rates, vessel rocking intensities, and node densities, and is compared against traditional protocols. The results demonstrate that OCN-AR significantly outperforms existing routing approaches, making it a reliable solution for maritime communication. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

The security of IoT that is based on layered approaches has shortcomings such as the redundancy, inflexibility, and inefficiently of security solutions. There are many harmful attacks in IoT networks such as DoS and DDoS attacks, which can compromise the IoT architecture in all layers. Consequently, cross layer approach is proposed as an effective and practical security defending mechanism. Cross-layer distributed attack detection model (CLDAD) is proposed to enhance security solutions for IoT environments. CLDAD presents a general detection method of DDoS in sensing layer, network layer, and application layer. CLDAD is based on big data analytics techniques, which enable the detection process to be performed in a distributed way, so the model can detect DDoS attacks in any layer on-the-fly and the model support the scalability of the IoT environment. CLDAD is tested based on three datasets, namely artificial jamming attack dataset, BoT-IoT dataset, and BoT-IoT-based HTTP. The results showed that the proposed model is efficient in detecting attacks in the three layers of the IoT. Copyright © 2022, IGI Global.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2019, people counting in confined spaces has become essential for controlling the flow of people and reducing viral spread. Many people-counting systems use a fisheye lens to achieve a wide viewing range. However, the images captured with a fisheye lens can have different sizes and deformations due to different camera heights, which consequently affects the accuracy of people counting. In this study, a Raspberry Pi 4 development board attached to a fisheye lens was used to construct an edge computing platform for people counting by using artificial intelligence. A modified You Only Look Once (YOLO) model, which has three output layers and a spatial pyramid pooling module, is proposed to recognize people in images captured at various heights. For efficiently running this deep learning model on the proposed edge computing platform, a TensorFlow Lite framework was used to reduce the model size. The final experimental results indicated that the mean average error and mean squared error of the modified tiny version of the YOLO v4 model were 0.249 and 0.292, respectively, and the detection speed of the platform was 2 frames per second. The results indicate that the proposed edge computing platform can efficiently and accurately count the number of people. Because the proposed system uses edge computing, it can effectively solve personal privacy and transmission bandwidth problems. © 2017 IEEE.

In the era of big data with an ever-increasing amount of data, the demand for data processing is increasing, and various computing service agreements have also been created. While data are widely used, data providers worry that their privacy will be infringed, so the security of the data has also received more attention. Private set intersection (PSI) allows two data-owning parties to jointly compute the intersection of private datasets. The party cannot obtain any other information except for the intersection results. However, Bloom filter (BF) is a naive solution that can be used to potentially obtain PSI, but the verifiability of using BF is usually a concern for effectiveness. Hence, garbled Bloom filter is indeed expected to overcome this concern in two-party setting. We aim for the outsourced scenario where there are many data-owning parties in distributed setting. These parties would like to jointly obtain the set intersection in a private manner supported by an outsourced cloud, and further to obtain data integration. The main challenges are that the previous solutions cannot be directly transformed into an outsourced scenario. In this paper, the proposed joint and effective privacy preserving outsourced set intersection and data integration protocols are called JEDI. They are generic constructions. We start by introducing a basic outsourced PSI protocol from the cryptographic building blocks and new BF and GBF techniques. Then, we modify the basic protocol and propose the full-fledged scheme to achieve an outsourced multi-party PSI protocol. Finally, we analyze the security and execution efficiency aspects to ensure usability. © 2023 IEEE.

WSNs are applied in many disciplines where certain conditions require the ability to adapt to network sink mobility and changes in the dynamics of the area coverage. To meet these needs, it is necessary to develop integrated systems where the ''terrestrial' systems and the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)' collect data from sensors efficiently. Planning of UAV trajectories is another challenging issue if many WSN nodes are randomly deployed. This challenge has a big impact on the overall effectiveness of the system. This paper presents a novel approach for reducing the traveled distance of unscrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) to improve the data collection efficiency in WSNs with poor node density. Yet the method that has been developed is aimed at increasing 'the efficiency and efficacy of data collection... with the assistance of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)' which means this work reveals practical application solutions. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper investigates the (quasi-)periodicity of a string when the string is edited. A string C is called a cover (as known as a quasi-period) of a string T if each character of T lies within some occurrence of C. By definition, a cover of T must be a border of T;that is, it occurs both as a prefix and as a suffix of T. In this paper, we focus on the changes in the longest border and the shortest cover of a string when the string is edited only once. We propose a data structure of size O(n) that computes the longest border and the shortest cover of the string in O(log n) time after an edit operation (either insertion, deletion, or substitution of some string) is applied to the input string T of length n, where is the length of the string being inserted or substituted.
