Optimization problems, which involve finding the best solution from a set of possible solutions, are ubiquitous in various fields, from finance to engineering. Traditional algorithms sometimes struggle with these problems, especially when the solution space is vast, or the landscape is filled with numerous local minima. Quantum-inspired computing, which emulates quantum mechanical principles on classical hardware, emerges as a promising paradigm to address these challenges. This paper delves into two notable approaches: coherent Ising machines (CIM) and graphics processing unit (GPU)-accelerated simulated annealing. In essence, both methods offer innovative strategies to navigate the solution landscape, potentially bypassing the pitfalls of local optima and ensuring more efficient convergence to solutions. By harnessing the strengths of these quantum-inspired techniques, we can pave the way for enhanced computational capabilities in tackling complex optimization problems, even without a fault-tolerant quantum computer. © 2007-2011 IEEE.

To answer math word problems (MWPs), models must formalize equations from the source text of math problems. Recently, the tree-structured decoder has significantly improved model performance on this task by generating the target equation in a tree format. However, current decoders usually ignore the hierarchical relationships between tree nodes and their parents, which hinders further improvement. Thus, we propose a structure called a hierarchical attention tree to aid the generation procedure of the decoder. As our decoder follows a graph-based encoder, our full model is therefore named Graph to Hierarchical Attention Tree (G2HAT). We show that a tree-structured decoder with hierarchical accumulative multi-head attention leads to a significant performance improvement and reaches a significant improvement on various strong baselines on both English MAWPS and Chinese Math23k MWP benchmarks. Natural disasters can be unpredictable and catastrophic. Even after the event, the repercussions are prolonged due to the incompetence of disaster management strategies. To mitigate the effects of a natural hazard, disaster management teams have to rapidly come forth with innovative plans of action. To contain the damage that a disaster causes, the response time, and preparedness of a disaster management team is crucial. Having a forewarning about the nature of the disaster can prove to be beneficial for the management team. Remote/unreachable areas such as deep parts of the forests, far-flung rural areas, oceans and other hard to reach locations are at a higher risk of receiving poorer aid and response due to the lack of communication and connectivity with the rest of the world. Our paper provides a solution for this particular problem by suggesting UAV/Drones for surveillance and monitoring in these inaccessible, disaster struck areas. The drones not only monitor the situation but constantly click pictures and send them to a base station, where the images are used to collect insights about the type of disaster that has to be dealt with. The paper proposes a deep learning model based on feature concatenation for classification of disasters which can be deployed at the base station, and can receive data in the form of images from a UAV/drone hovering over the affected place. The proposed model is efficient and able to achieve a higher accuracy as compared to the leading CNN models and closely related recent works as well. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

The manual analysis of job resumes poses specific challenges, including the time-intensive process and the high likelihood of human error, emphasizing the need for automation in content-based recommendations. Recent advancements in deep learning, particularly Convolutional Neural networks (CNN) for Multi-label Text Classification (MLTC), offer a promising solution for addressing these challenges through artificial intelligence. While CNN is renowned for its robust feature extraction capabilities, it faces specific challenges such as managing high-dimensional data and poor data interpretability. To address these limitations, this study employs the Fuzzy Discernibility Matrix (FDM) feature selection technique to determine the relevance of skills for each job vacancy. FDM assigns weights to the features of each job category and ranks their relevance based on the highest scores, which are then utilized in the MLTC CNN model. The integration of FDM and MLTC CNN serves as the foundation for generating content-based recommendations derived from key features in job resumes. This study produces a content-based job recommendation system that displays the top three job categories, accompanied by explanations of the skills supporting each selected category. These recommendations also consider cosine similarity values between analyzed items and the integrated results of FDM and MLTC CNN. The application of FDM for feature weighting has been proven to enhance multi-label text classification outcomes by providing better insights during the feature selection process. With a recall of 97.26%, precision of 94.81%, and accuracy of 98.58%, the MLTC model integrating FDM feature selection and CNN demonstrates robust performance characteristics in content-based job recommendation tasks. © 2025 Slovene Society Informatika. 3D medical image segmentation is an essential task in the medical image field, which aims to segment organs or tumours into different labels. A number of issues exist with the current 3D medical image segmentation task: existing models cannot simultaneously obtain the space correlation and depth correlation of 3D slices;previous models suffer from local detail loss of positional embedding in 3D images;previous approaches often have blurring of boundaries in segmenting 3D images. To solve these shortcomings, we propose a 3D medical image segmentation model named TPM-SAM. In our model, we design a twinchannel image encoder to simultaneously capture the space correlation and depth correlation of 3D slices through a multi-head attention mechanism and improved adapters. Furthermore, we design a prompt encoding generator, which divides the volumetric image into small blocks and better captures the local detail information. In addition, we introduce a multi-layer aggregation decoder by employing U-Net with multi-level skip connection to solve the blurring of boundaries in processing 3D images. Finally, we experimented and evaluated our model on KiTS21 and LiTS17 datasets to compare with other baseline models. © 2024 IEEE.
