Transaction transmission model for blockchain channels based on non-cooperative games

In blockchain networks, transactions can be transmitted through channels. The existing transmission methods depend on their routing information. If a node randomly chooses a channel to transmit a transaction, the transmission may be aborted due to insufficient funds(also called balance) or a low transmission rate. To increase the success rate and reduce transmission delay across all transactions, this work proposes a transaction transmission model for blockchain channels based on non-cooperative game *** balance, channel states, and transmission probability are fully considered. This work then presents an optimized channel transaction transmission algorithm. First, channel balances are analyzed and suitable channels are selected if their balance is sufficient. Second, a Nash equilibrium point is found by using an iterative sub-gradient method and its related channels are then used to transmit transactions. The proposed method is compared with two state-of-the-art approaches: Silent Whispers and Speedy Murmurs. Experimental results show that the proposed method improves transmission success rate, reduces transmission delay,and effectively decreases transmission overhead in comparison with its two competitive peers.

Drought is an environmental and economic problem. Sustainable ecosystems, water resources, food security, and all are severely affected by drought. Due to the increasing frequency and severity of droughts caused by climate change. Effective drought modeling is crucial for early warning systems and risk mitigation. Recent advances in machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) techniques have been developed as potential drought modeling tools that offer accurate drought modeling, providing policymakers and decision-makers with insightful information. The geographical scope of this study is the region of South Asia. This region is selected because of its heavy reliance on agriculture and vulnerability to droughts. The review offers a thorough grasp of how drought conditions are evaluated by gathering and analyzing the most important drought indicators and metrics specific to South Asia. The paper explores the current state- of-the-art in ML and DL (Complex Machine learning and deep learning models) for drought modeling, highlighting current challenges such as incomplete and inconsistent datasets, Lack of explainability and interpretability in complex ML/DL models, unavailability of benchmarks. Based on these challenges, this review suggests the following techniques to address these challenges: Data integration (Data fusion), distributed machine learning (Federated Learning) and explainable AI (XAI, SHAP, LIME, etc.). © 2013 IEEE.

The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) brings advanced patient monitoring and predictive analytics to healthcare but also raises cybersecurity and data privacy issues. This paper introduces a deep-learning model for IoMT intrusion detection, utilizing the WUSTL EHMS 2020 dataset, which focuses on cyber threats like man-in-the-middle attacks and data injection. Our sequential model, trained with TensorFlow, surpasses traditional predictive accuracy and efficiency methods. It achieves 99% accuracy with reduced loss and excels in precision, recall, F1 Score, and ROC AUC. The model uses 25 key features from 45, preventing overfitting and addressing data leakage in preprocessing. These steps ensure the model's reliability for IoMT cybersecurity, demonstrating its effectiveness in real-world scenarios. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Towards real-time ML-based DDoS detection via cost-efficient window-based feature extraction

Distributed denial of service(DDoS) detection is still an open and challenging problem. In particular, sophisticated attacks, e.g., attacks that disguise attack packets as benign traffic always appear, which can easily evade traditional signature-based methods. Due to the low requirements for computing resources compared to deep learning, many machine learning(ML)-based methods have been realistically deployed to address this issue. However, most existing ML-based DDo S detection methods are highly dependent on the features extracted from each flow, which incur remarkable detection delay and computation overhead. This article investigates the limitations of typical ML-based DDo S detection methods caused by the extraction of flow-level features. Moreover, we develop a cost-efficient window-based method that extracts features from a fixed number of packets periodically, instead of per flow, aiming to reduce the detection delay and computation overhead. The newly proposed window-based method has the advantages of well-controlled overhead and wide support of common routers due to its simplicity and high efficiency by design. Through extensive experiments on real datasets, we evaluate the performance of flow-based and window-based *** experimental results demonstrate that our proposed window-based method can significantly reduce the detection delay and computation overhead while ensuring detection accuracy.

We plan to develop a specialized training system to enhance the competitive skills of players in the first-person shooter game "Valorant", aiming to improve their abilities and tactical understanding within the game. We will adopt a multimodal image-text fusion technique to enhance the model’s learning of sample similarity. Specifically, we will use the cross-entropy function to maximize the diagonal values of the similarity matrix, thereby capturing the features of similar samples and reducing the similarity between dissimilar samples. Through this process, we ensure that the model can map the same entity across different modalities into similar embedding representations, while distinguishing unrelated samples. Our goal is to find a way of embedding representation during the learning process that enables the model to better understand and represent multimodal data. We will utilize the YOLOv7 model for object detection to identify destructible skills. Based on the results of object detection, we will generate relevant textual descriptions for each object. In the charity sector, fundraising and transparency have long been key issues. Charity NFT (Non-Fungible Token) auctions, an emerging charity fundraising model integrating blockchain and NFT concepts, bring opportunities and challenges. Blockchain provides distributed data integrity and transparency via cryptography-linked data blocks, while NFTs enable unique digital ownership representation. This study designs a charity NFT auction platform on the Fisco Bcos blockchain, using multi-signature algorithms to ensure NFT authenticity, ECDSA (Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm) signatures for transaction integrity and traceability, NFTs and virtual currencies to reduce costs, and IPFS (InterPlanetary File System) for storage. The implemented system achieves 2104 TPS throughput with 492-millisecond latency, increasing transaction processing with low latency. Overall, the platform aims to address charity issues like opaque fund flows, high costs, and fake initiatives through the strategic application of blockchain and NFT functionality. © 2013 IEEE.

Extended reality (XR) and 6G networks are set to transform mobile immersive experiences, with privacy and security being paramount in XR communications. Achieving secure and reliable XR experiences while meeting high-resolution and low-latency requirements is challenging for wireless networks. A novel security-aware cross-layer communication management framework is proposed, employing zero-trust spatiotemporal physical layer level manipulations for moving-target defense. Driven by deep reinforcement learning and real-time monitoring, the proposed framework adaptively reprograms the network configuration to maximize the user’s quality of experience (QoE), reduce the overall latency, and minimize the attacker’s intercept probability. The framework was evaluated in a simulated scenario featuring an indirect multi-hop communication setup. The results show that the proposed framework effectively and efficiently secures XR user communications while maintaining QoE, outperforming conventional Q-learning algorithms. © 1983-2012 IEEE.

Optimizing therapy and rehabilitation for Parkinson's disease (PD) requires early identification and precise evaluation of the illness's course. However, there is disagreement about the best way to use gait analysis to categorize the severity of motor symptoms and identify early-stage Parkinson's disease. The precision of machine learning (ML) models in identifying early and intermediate stages of Parkinson's disease was assessed in this study. Six ML models are used in this study for the prediction of PD. Different metrics are used to evaluate ML models such as accuracy, precision, recall, f1-score, and AUC score. Then we propose a multi-criteria decision-making methodology (MCDM) to evaluate the ML models and select the best one. Two MCDM methods are used such as CRITIC method to compute the criteria weights and the TOPSIS method to rank the alternatives. These methods are used under the bipolar neutrosophic sets (BNSs) to deal with uncertainty information. The results show the support vector machine is the best ML model for the prediction of PD. © 2025, University of New Mexico. All rights reserved.
