Innovative safety in the workplace is vital as the high safety risks associated with electrical engineering construction can lead to injuries or even fatalities. Using computer vision technology, we experimented with scenarios such as 'normal operations' and 'unexpected incidents' to enhance safety measures. We integrated an Internet of Things system into the setup, enabling the system to quickly detect and alert to unexpected events in real-time, thereby improving workplace safety. © 2024 IEEE.

Machine translation focuses mainly on high-resource languages (HRLs), while low-resource languages (LRLs) like Taiwanese Hokkien are relatively under-explored. The study aims to address this gap by developing a dual translation model between Taiwanese Hokkien and both Traditional Mandarin Chinese and English. We employ a pre-trained LLaMA 2-7B model specialized in Traditional Mandarin Chinese to leverage the orthographic similarities between Taiwanese Hokkien Han and Traditional Mandarin Chinese. Our comprehensive experiments involve translation tasks across various writing systems of Taiwanese Hokkien as well as between Taiwanese Hokkien and other HRLs. We find that the use of a limited monolingual corpus still further improves the model's Taiwanese Hokkien capabilities. We then utilize our translation model to standardize all Taiwanese Hokkien writing systems into Hokkien Han, resulting in further performance improvements. Additionally, we introduce an evaluation method incorporating back-translation and GPT-4 to ensure reliable translation quality assessment even for LRLs. The study contributes to narrowing the resource gap for Taiwanese Hokkien and empirically investigates the advantages and limitations of pre-training and fine-tuning based on LLaMA 2. © 2024 ELRA Language Resource Association: CC BY-NC 4.0.

Quantum computing is an essential issue for taking advantage of quantum properties in real-world applications. Realizing quantum computing with a corresponding quantum circuit is a critical step. This study introduces the AngelQ system, which provides quantum computing-as-a-service (QCaaS) for the cloud. The AngelQ system integrates quantum design automation (QDA) to achieve quantum and reversible circuit synthesis by a quantum-inspired optimization (QiO) technique and has visualization software interfaces to verify the QiO process and the correctness of the synthesized quantum and reversible circuits. First, the proposed novel QiO method has four significant features: Adaptive strategy, quantum-Not gate, update mechanism by Global solutions, and Entanglement Local search, named Angel QiO. which is a flexible technique to realize various circuits under different gate libraries with a few alterations. Angel QiO can construct diversified function-equivalent circuits to assess the circuit composition and boost the development of circuit synthesis. Second, researchers can observe the QiO algorithm process and inspect the intermediate result formula through AngelQ system's visualization interface to further adjust the parameters and improve the performance. Moreover, it benefits beginners' learning and adds convenience to education. In summary, the AngelQ system can extend and facilitate the future design and automation of quantum computing. © 2007-2011 IEEE.

The objective of Multimodal Knowledge Graph Completion (MKGC) is to forecast absent entities within a knowledge graph by leveraging additional textual and visual modalities. Existing studies commonly utilize a singular relationship embedding to depict all modalities within an entity pair, thus connecting several relationships derived from diverse modalities. However, this coupling may introduce interference from conflicting information between modalities, as the relationships between modalities for a given entity pair can be contradictory. Moreover, existing Ensemble Inference methods fail to dynamically adjust modal weights based on their differences and importance, despite the varying contributions of different modalities. In this paper, we propose the Multimodal Decouple and Relation-based Ensemble inference (MDRE) model. For each modality, we construct corresponding relationship embeddings and build separate triple representations to avoid interferences among modalities. During the training phase, we employ confidence-constrained training with temperature scaling to alleviate conflicting information in textual and visual modalities. For inference, we utilize the Relation-based Ensemble Inference method to adjust modal weights at the relationship level, thus achieving improved prediction results. Experimental results on two datasets demonstrate that MDRE outperforms existing single-modal and multimodal knowledge graph completion methods in terms of performance. © 2023 IEEE.

We build upon recent work on the use of machine-learning models to estimate Hamiltonian parameters using continuous weak measurement of qubits as input. We consider two settings for the training of our model: (1) supervised learning, where the weak-measurement training record can be labeled with known Hamiltonian parameters, and (2) unsupervised learning, where no labels are available. The first has the advantage of not requiring an explicit representation of the quantum state, thus potentially scaling very favorably to a larger number of qubits. The second requires the implementation of a physical model to map the Hamiltonian parameters to a measurement record, which we implement using an integrator of the physical model with a recurrent neural network to provide a model-free correction at every time step to account for small effects not captured by the physical model. We test our construction on a system of two qubits and demonstrate accurate prediction of multiple physical parameters in both the supervised context and the unsupervised context. We demonstrate that the model benefits from larger training sets, establishing that it is “learning,” and we show robustness regarding errors in the assumed physical model by achieving accurate parameter estimation in the presence of unanticipated single-particle relaxation.

Amidst the rapid evolution of information technology and its implication with sports, the analysis of sports information has been increasingly complex. The burgeoning realm of sports big data, rooted in the vast expanse of the internet, is expanding rapidly. The Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL), standing as Taiwan's most popular professional baseball league and a prominent fixture in domestic sports, has attracted considerable attention regarding the prediction of games. However, the prediction results in baseball games remain a challenge. In this study, we employed a sophisticated fuzzy algorithm within an expert system analysis and used App Inventor to craft an interface tailored for predicting CPBL game results (win/loss). This mobile app interface empowers users to input pertinent data, encompassing details about teams and athletes to estimate probabilities of win or loss. Based on this approach, a professional baseball data inquiry mobile application (APP) was designed. This integration enables players and coaches to effortlessly access statistical insights on their smartphones or tablets at their convenience. © 2024 IEEE.

Cooperative perception is a promising paradigm to tackle the perception limitations of a single intelligent vehicle (IV) to enhance the driving safety and efficiency in intelligent vehicular networks. However, the real-time transmission and computation-intensive fusion of raw sensing data raise new challenges for satisfying the stringent delay requirement of delay-sensitive applications. In this paper, we formulate a joint optimization problem of the cooperative IV selection, compression ratio selection, transmit power control, task offloading decision and computation allocation to minimize the end-to-end delay consisting of compression, transmission and computation. In particular, to meet the perception probability requirement, the quality and quantity-aware matching algorithm is proposed to optimize the cooperative IV selection. To guarantee the queue stability of offloading tasks, we develop the Lyapunov optimization algorithm to determine the upper bound of the offloading tasks and the corresponding optimal computation allocation. The Lyapunov aided deep reinforcement learning algorithm is further proposed to dynamically adjust the task offloading decision and compression ratio selection to minimize the end-to-end delay with the transmit power control being optimized by the successive convex approximation algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate that, compared to several benchmark algorithms, our proposed algorithm achieves the lowest end-to-end delay while guaranteeing the requirements on perception probability and queue stability effectively. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

Land Surface Temperature (LST) is important data for various fields, especially for monitoring global warming. Landsat-8 satellite imagery provides thermal data with a spatial resolution of 30m (resampled from 100m) as the main data for LST retrieval. This research aims to compare several LST retrieval algorithms such as LST retrieval using band 10, Single Channel Model (SCM), Qin's Split-Window Algorithm (Q-SWA), Sobrino's Split-Window Algorithm (S-SWA), and LST from the analysis ready data of Landsat 8 Level-2. The study focuses on Dallas, Texas, and surrounding areas in March 2023. We collected air temperature data from 20 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) stations for indirect validation. Based on the results, the Q-SWA method outperformed other retrieval algorithms with mean absolute error (MAE) and root mean squared error (RMSE) were 0.683°C and 0.842°C, respectively. Given that Landsat-8's thermal band data is resampled from 100m to 30m, this research also explores enhancing the retrieved LST using deep neural network regression (DNNR). The best retrieved LST from the Q-SWA method served as the target data while several bands and spectral indices from Landsat-8 were used as the input for DNNR model. Due to the large scale of data, we randomly selected 10 million pixels and divided into 80% of training and 20% of testing data. The DNNR model achieved MAE of 1.022°C on the testing dataset. The enhanced LST from the DNNR model was also validated with the same air temperature validation data and achieved the MAE score of 1.037°C. Based on the visual comparison result, the DNNR model successfully enhanced the retrieved LST by providing more detailed results at the same 30m resolution and showing promising performance based on error metrics. This finding suggests the potential for using deep learning regression in LST downscaling to achieve better spatial resolution. © 2024 SPIE.
