This study introduces a long-short-term memory(LSTM)-based neural network model developed for detecting anomaly events in care-independent smart homes,focusing on the critical application of elderly fall *** balances the dataset using the Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique(SMOTE),effectively neutralizing bias to address the challenge of unbalanced datasets prevalent in time-series classification *** proposed LSTM model is trained on the enriched dataset,capturing the temporal dependencies essential for anomaly *** model demonstrated a significant improvement in anomaly detection,with an accuracy of 84%.The results,detailed in the comprehensive classification and confusion matrices,showed the model’s proficiency in distinguishing between normal activities and *** study contributes to the advancement of smart home safety,presenting a robust framework for real-time anomaly monitoring.

In wireless body area networks (WBANs), the deep channel fading between the nodes and the hub significantly impairs the reliability of end-to-end signal transmission. However, some nodes in WBANs necessitate high-priority data transmission with stringent latency and accuracy requirements. Retransmission is ineffective against channel fading and can result in increased communication overhead and extended transmission delays. This paper proposes an opportunistic relay strategy tailored to the characteristics of WBAN nodes with varying priorities. This strategy converts suitable low-priority nodes as relays during high-priority time slots to forward high-priority data to the hub when deep fading occurs. The relay can be opportunistically selected based on the channel condition and the power usage. With Lyanupov optimization, we maximize the transmission reliability while ensuring the extra power consumption of low-priority nodes are acceptable. Subsequently, simulations are conducted in the network Simulator 3 (NS3) to validate the proposed relay selection strategy, showing that the proposed strategy effectively improves the reliability from 90.2% to 99.1% with an additional power consumption of 30%. © 2024 IEEE.

Federated learning (FL) enhances data privacy by enabling decentralized model training without sharing local data. However, FL is vulnerable to Label-Flipping-Attacks (LFA), where malicious clients flip data labels. Traditionally, cloud-centric centralized defenses against LFA pose security and efficiency challenges. We propose a novel edge-based decentralized LFA detection method using edge servers for efficient detection. The proposed method considers the overall and class-wise accuracy in identifying suspicious clients. Initially, we adopt a strict zero-tolerance approach by excluding the entire update from detected malicious clients. We then experiment with four aggregation techniques-subtracting, masking, clipping, and reweighting–to handle the malicious parts of updates by focusing on the final layer neurons corresponding to specific classes. Experiments using three datasets demonstrate the effectiveness, robustness, and efficiency of our method, showing improved model performance and reduced latency under adversarial conditions. This approach improves the security and reliability of FL systems while maintaining data privacy. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Image-text matching is an important problem at the intersection of computer vision and natural language processing. It aims to establish the semantic link between image and text to achieve high-quality semantic alignment between the two modalities. However, the existing methods have the problem that the meaning expressed in the image or the complex narrative in the text cannot be fully understood due to insufficient feature extraction. Moreover, due to the essential modal differences between images and texts, how to effectively and accurately align the semantic contents in images and texts has become the key of research. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes a method based on feature enhancement and relationship interaction. When processing images, the proposed method fuses labeled features, region features and location features to represent images. When processing text, a combination of Bi-GRU and self-attention mechanism is used to represent the text. In order to further align the semantic content in images and texts accurately, this paper improves two relational interaction mechanisms by identifying connection relationships and learning association relationships. Thus, the relation enhanced embedding is obtained. Finally, it calculated the similarity of the enhanced embedding to judge the matching degree of the image and text. Extensive experiments on the public datasets Flickr30K and MSCOCO demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. © 2024 IEEE.

Chinese short text similarity computation stands as a pivotal task within natural language processing, garnering significant attention. However, existing models grapple with limitations in handling intricate semantic relationships, such as the challenge of discerning subtle semantic nuances in text, inadequacies in effectively integrating diverse levels of semantic information, and the struggle to capture polysemous meanings accurately. In addressing these issues, this paper introduces an innovative Chinese short text similarity computation model, SMGC-SBERT. This model addresses shortcomings of the existing models by employing a multi-module fusion strategy, thereby enabling a more precise measurement of semantic similarity between texts. Primarily, the model incorporates SAT embedding to acquire phrase-level semantic information and leverages the MS-BERT model to encode text, improving the model's comprehension of textual polysemy and obtaining richer semantic representation. Then, the fusion of module features, including multi-branch convolutional networks and mix pooling, enables the extraction of textual features from varied levels, bolstering the model's representational capacity. Additionally, to further reduce overfitting risks while improving accuracy and other performance, a multi-layer feature adjustment network is utilized for short text similarity calculation. The final resultant experimental findings showcase the superiority of the SMGC-SBERT model over other neural network models, demonstrating significant advancements across both Chinese-SNLI and CCKS2018_Task3 Chinese short text datasets. © 2024 IEEE.

The need to ensure the longevity of Wireless Sensor networks (WSNs) and secure their communication has spurred various researchers to come up with various WSN models. Prime among the methods for extending the life span of WSNs is the clustering of Wireless Sensors (WS), which reduces the workload of WS and thereby reduces its power consumption. However, a drastic reduction in the power consumption of the sensors when multicore sensors are used in combination with sensors clustering has not been well explored. Therefore, this work proposes a WSN model that employs clustering of multicore WS. The existing Elliptic Curve Cryptographic (ECC) algorithm is optimized for parallel execution of the encryption/decryption processes and security against primitive attacks. The Elliptic Curve Diffie-Helman (ECDH) was used for the key exchange algorithm, and the Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) was used to authenticate the communicating nodes. Security analysis of the model and comparative performance analysis with the existing ones were demonstrated. The security analysis results reveal that the proposed model meets the security requirements and resists various security attacks. Additionally, the projected model is scalable, energy-conservative, and supports data freshness. The results of comparative performance analysis show that the proposed WSN model can efficiently leverage multiprocessors and/or many cores for quicker execution and conserves power usage. © 2013 IEEE.

In urban areas, due to the obstruction/reflection of GNSS signals by roadside buildings, position accuracy is greatly degraded, or even outage occurs when no enough satellites are available. To address this problem, vehicles and roadside units have been used as positioning anchors to estimate pedestrian position. Although previous methods exploited channel state information, which is superior to received signal strength for distance estimation, they rely on signal attenuation characteristics, and the accuracy is limited by temporal resolution and multipath propagation. This work focuses on using the phase information of V2X OFDM signals to estimate distance differences more robustly. We investigated the impact of the sampling rate, a crucial parameter, and conducted simulation evaluations using 3D maps and ray-tracing. Additionally, we built a testbed and performed evaluations with real-world OFDM signal data, which demonstrates that phase information can significantly improve the accuracy of distance measurements. © 2024 IEEE.
