This paper proposes a parallel adaptive network named PA-Net for polyp segmentation, which enables to dynamically adjust convolution kernels and attention weights according to the input. It enhances the focus on key regions, thereby ameliorating the challenge of hard identification due to the complex morphology and the blurring of the border between polyp and mucosa. Furthermore, as a lightweight network, PA-Net does not lead to excessive computational overhead and real-time efficiency of 34 FPS achieved. The experimental results show that PA-Net achieves excellent segmentation performance on public colonoscopy dataset.

This paper introduces a new model for handling data privacy throughout data lifecycle via the introduction of a policy profile using the Abbreviated Language For Authorization (ALFA) policy language. Our approach extends previous models in three complementary ways: (1) By introducing Administration and Delegation Profile (ADP) in ALFA policy where users and companies can restrict the scope of access/usage policies related to data as well as specify a chain of custody for data (moreover such an approach eases up the tasks of handling users' consent);(2) Thanks to our framework Usage Control System Plus (UCS+) users can monitor the usage of data and revoke its usage upon specific conditions or at will;(3) By introducing new states for policy evaluation, i.e. Admissible/NotAdmissible to filter out those applicable policies that were unauthorized in the first place. © 2021 IEEE

As an important part of medical diagnosis, medical images are widely used in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Radiologists need to write reports for a large number of medical images every day, which usually occupies most of the radiologists' work time. Automatic medical report generation becomes an urgent problem to be solved. Most of the existing works in the domain of medical report generation have some problems. The first is abnormalities are not well represented and the connection between them is usually ignored. Second, there is no or no good fusion between image and semantic information. We present to establish abnormality graph with prior knowledge to represent abnormalities and their relationships. And we use a multimodal interaction module to fuse image and semantic information. Experimental results on two datasets, a public English medical reports dataset and a Chinese medical reports dataset conducted by ourselves, show that our method outperforms the state-of-art methods. © 2021 ACM.

In this paper, we describe a hyperchaotic system with time-delay. The process of the system is composed of a drive system and a response system, which is controlled by an intermittent mode. Double impulses are added to enhance the control, which is closer to the actual situation. According to Lyapunov stability theory, Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI), double impulses and intermittent control theory, and considering the approximation method of delay equation, an exponential synchronization condition of error system is given. The validity of the conclusion is realized by computer simulation. © 2022 IEEE.

TiCoSS: Tightening the Coupling between Semantic Segmentation and Stereo Matching within A Joint Learning Framework

Semantic segmentation and stereo matching, respectively analogous to the ventral and dorsal streams in our human brain, are two key components of autonomous driving perception systems. Addressing these two tasks with separate networks is no longer the mainstream direction in developing computer vision algorithms, particularly with the recent advances in large vision models and embodied artificial intelligence. The trend is shifting towards combining them within a joint learning framework, especially emphasizing feature sharing between the two tasks. The major contributions of this study lie in comprehensively tightening the coupling between semantic segmentation and stereo matching. Specifically, this study introduces three key novelties: (1) a tightly coupled, gated feature fusion strategy, (2) a hierarchical deep supervision strategy, and (3) a coupling tightening loss function. All these technical contributions help tightly couple semantic segmentation and stereo matching tasks, collectively resulting in TiCoSS, a state-of-the-art joint learning framework. Through extensive experiments on the KITTI and vKITTI2 datasets, along with both qualitative and quantitative analyses, we validate the effectiveness of our developed strategies and loss function. Our approach demonstrates superior performance compared to prior arts, with a notable increse in mIoU by over 9%. Our source code will be publicly available at ***/TiCoSS upon publication. Integrating solid-state spin defects into classical electronic devices can enable new opportunities for quantum information processing that benefit from existing semiconductor technology. We show, through bias control of an isotopically purified silicon carbide (SiC) p-i-n diode, the depletion of not only electrical noise sources but also magnetic noise sources, resulting in record coherences for SiC electron spin qubits. We also uncover complementary improvements to the relaxation times of nuclear spin registers controllable by the defect, and measure diode-enhanced coherences. These improvements lead to record-long nuclear spin Hahn-echo times on the scale of minutes. These results demonstrate the power of materials control and electronic device integration to create highly coherent solid-state quantum network nodes and processors. © 2025, CC BY.

Existing studies on ultraviolet (UV) non-line-of-sight (NLoS) channel modeling primarily focus on scenarios without any obstacle, which makes them unsuitable for small transceiver elevation angles in most cases. To address this issue, a UV NLoS channel model incorporating an obstacle was investigated in this paper, where the impacts of atmospheric scattering and obstacle reflection on UV signals were both taken into account. To validate the proposed model, we compared it to the related Monte-Carlo photon-tracing (MCPT) model that had been verified by outdoor experiments. Numerical results manifest that the path loss curves obtained by the proposed model agree well with those determined by the MCPT model, while its computation complexity is lower than that of the MCPT model. This work discloses that obstacle reflection can effectively reduce the channel path loss of UV NLoS communication systems.

As a superior multicarrier technique utilizing chirp signals for high-mobility communications, affine frequency division multiplexing (AFDM) is envisioned to be a promising candidate for sixth-generation (6G) wireless networks. AFDM is based on the discrete affine Fourier transform (DAFT) with two adjustable parameters of the chirp signals, termed the pre-chirp and post-chirp parameters, respectively. Whilst the post-chirp parameter complies with stringent constraints to combat the time-frequency doubly selective channel fading, we show that the pre-chirp counterpart can be flexibly manipulated for an additional degree of freedom. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel AFDM scheme with the pre-chirp index modulation (PIM) philosophy (AFDM-PIM), which can implicitly convey extra information bits through dynamic pre-chirp parameter assignment, thus enhancing both spectral and energy efficiency. Specifically, we first demonstrate that the subcarrier orthogonality is still maintained by applying distinct pre-chirp parameters to various subcarriers in the AFDM modulation process. Inspired by this property, we allow each AFDM subcarrier to carry a unique pre-chirp signal according to the incoming bits. By such an arrangement, extra bits can be embedded into the index patterns of pre-chirp parameter assignment without additional energy consumption. We derive asymptotically tight upper bounds on the average bit error probability (BEP) of the proposed schemes with the maximum-likelihood detection, and validate that the proposed AFDM-PIM can achieve full diversity under doubly dispersive channels. Based on the derived result, we further propose an optimal pre-chirp alphabet design to enhance the bit error rate (BER) performance via intelligent optimization algorithms. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed AFDM-PIM outperforms the classical benchmarks. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

Mobility and transportation play a significant role in the social, cultural, economic and political progress of any nation. Pakistan relies heavily on imported petroleum fuel to fulfil the need for energy. In recent years, there has been unpredictable and frequent inflation of fuel prices that has impacted the transportation and mobility patterns of the public. However, there has been no study to analyse the changing mobility patterns in Pakistan in 2023. Therefore, this study aimed to analyse the relationship between changing transportation patterns due to fuel price inflations and study variables: Sociodemographic Characteristics of the Participants and Transport and Traveling Patterns. A cross-sectional survey was conducted with 523 different vehicle users (motorcycle, car, bus, van, rickshaw, etc.) living across Pakistan using an online questionnaire from June to July 2023. Changing Mobility Patterns due to Fuel Price Inflation was a dependent variable, and the independent variables were the Sociodemographic Characteristics of the Participants and Transport and Traveling Patterns. Data were analysed using a binomial logistic Regression Analysis with the help of SPSS. Changing Mobility Patterns due to Fuel Price Inflation were significantly predicted by the Preferred Vehicles for Travelling, Vehicle Engine Type, Vehicle Engine Power, and Sociodemographic Characteristics of the participants. The study concluded that Pakistani vehicle-users had to change their mobility patterns due to fuel prices inflation in recent years. An intense measure needs to be taken to control the current situation of the unpredictable and frequent fuel-price inflation in Pakistan. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.
