The emergence of 6G networks requires innovative antenna designs that operate at extremely high frequencies. The proposed paper explores the application of advanced machine learning techniques to optimize the design of antennas for 6G applications at 15 GHz. Traditional design methods are often time-consuming and depend on expert knowledge, whereas machine learning can automate and expedite this process. We developed a dataset incorporating critical antenna design parameters such as geometric dimensions and applied algorithms to predict key performance metrics like return loss, gain, and bandwidth. Our results demonstrate that neural networks, in particular, offer superior predictive accuracy, significantly reducing design iteration times. This integration of machine learning into antenna design not only improves performance but also facilitates the development of adaptive antenna systems, meeting the stringent demands of 6G networks. This research highlights the potential of machine learning to revolutionize antenna design, enabling rapid and efficient development of next-generation communication systems. © 2024 IEEE.

3D mesh models, as a new form of digital media, are widely utilized in game development, engineering construction, and 3D printing. Recently, there are some reversible data hiding schemes for the encrypted 3D models have been proposed to protect cloud users' privacy. This paper proposes a secure multiway tree traversal based reversible data hiding scheme to further improve performances. First, the secure multiway tree traversal technique is used to traverse vertices and protect the traversal rule. Then, the child vertex is predicted by its parent vertex by MSB prediction and is further compressed by the Huffman coding technique. After model encrypting, some additional data can be embedded on the data hider side. The authorized receiver can extract the embedded data or recover the 3D model. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme significantly improves the embedding rate compared to state-of-the-art schemes. © 2023 IEEE.

Semi-supervised learning (SSL) is a promising solution for the problem of insufficient medical labeled data. However, it is still a challenging task to segment transvaginal ultrasound (TVUS) images because of their poor contrast and speckle noise. In this study, we propose Multi-StudentNet, a semi-supervised deep-learning framework for endometrial segmentation in TVUS images. This method employs multiple student models to effectively integrate labeled and unlabeled data, improving the reliability and performance of segmentation while significantly reducing the need for extensive manual labeling. By leveraging the weights of multiple models, our framework facilitates feature sharing, which enhances model robustness. Specifically, Multi-StudentNet achieves a Dice coefficient (DSC) of 0.81 and a specificity of 0.99. Our multi-student models consistently outperform single-student models across various conditions, including normal, polyp, and cancer cases. Extensive experiments demonstrate that Multi-StudentNet achieves state-of-the-art performance in both accuracy and robustness. © 2024 IEEE.

In a recent paper (Gong et al. Quantum Inf Process 19:3, 2020), a novel ciphertext retrieval scheme based on the Grover algorithm and quantum homomorphic encryption was presented. In this scheme, when the server performs the operation of marking the solution on the user’s encrypted state in the Grover iteration, it needs to remove many gate-errors generated in the homomorphic evaluation of the T gate. And the server could judge this specific solution from the quantum circuit of marking the solution. It makes this scheme unable to achieve the low-cost and secure ciphertext retrieval. Therefore, we improve the Gong et al.’s scheme and propose a secure quantum homomorphic encryption ciphertext retrieval scheme. In our scheme, the trusted third party is introduced to cooperate with the server to execute the Grover algorithm. In each Grover iteration, the trusted third party can quickly mark the solution on the plaintext state, encrypt the marked state, and transmit it to the server. Then the server performs the remaining operations of this Grover iteration on the encrypted state. The trusted third party finally decrypts the iterated state. This cooperative approach ensures that the number of auxiliary qubits required and extra quantum gates executed in our scheme are lower than the Gong et al.’s scheme. By analyzing the security of our scheme, we confirm that the server and the trusted third party will not be informed of this solution. Thus, our scheme realizes the secure ciphertext retrieval with low computational overhead. We utilize IBM’s Qiskit framework to simulate our scheme, and the experimental result shows that our scheme is correct. It is worth noting that the low-cost and secure ciphertext retrieval will play a crucial role in modern information security and privacy protection. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Ecosystems are undergoing unprecedented persistent deterioration due to unsustainable anthropogenic human activities,such as overfishing and deforestation,and the effects of such damage on ecological stability are *** recent advances in experimental and theoretical studies on regime shifts and tipping points,theoretical tools for understanding the extinction chain,which is the sequence of species extinctions resulting from overexploitation,are still lacking,especially for large-scale nonlinear networked *** this study,we developed a mathematical tool to predict regime shifts and extinction chains in ecosystems under multiple exploitation situations and verified it in 26 real-world mutualistic networks of various sizes and *** discovered five phases during the exploitation process:safe,partial extinction,bistable,tristable,and collapse,which enabled the optimal design of restoration strategies for degraded or collapsed *** validated our approach using a 20-year dataset from an eelgrass restoration ***,we also found a specific region in the diagram spanning exploitation rates and competition intensities,where exploiting more species helps increase *** computational tool provides insights into harvesting,fishing,exploitation,or deforestation plans while conserving or restoring the biodiversity of mutualistic ecosystems.

Nowadays, one of the most important objectives in health-related research is the improvement of the living condition and well-being of people. Smart home systems can provide health protection for residents based on the results of daily activity recognition. Recent advances and developments in sensor technology have increased the need for sensor-compatible goods and services in smart homes. Consequently, the ever-increasing volume of data requires the field of deep learning (DL) for auto-matic human motion recognition. Recent research has modeled spatiotemporal sequences gathered by smart home sensors using long short-term memory networks. In this work, ResNeXt-based models that learn to classify human activities in smart homes were proposed to improve recognition performance. Experiments conducted on center for Advanced Studies in Adaptive Systems (CASAS) data, a publicly available benchmark dataset, shows that the proposed ResNeXt-based techniques are significantly superior to the existing DL methods and provide better results compared to the existing literature. The ResNeXt model achieved the averaged accuracy over the benchmark method to 84.81%, 93.57%, and 90.38% for the CASAS-Cairo, CASAS-Milan and CASAS-Kyoto3 datasets, respectively. © 2023 IEEE.

5th Generation (5G) mobile systems are being deployed to address the Quality of Service and Experience (QoS/QoE) requirements of several use cases, including enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) and Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communication (URLLC). While eMBB performance testing inherits well-established methodologies and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), beyond-eMBB services (i.e., URLLC and eMBBURLLC real-time applications) are often tested by adopting simplistic or in-house methodologies, which do not help towards accurate assessment and comparison. In this paper, we fill this gap by providing a detailed analysis of a methodology, recently standardized by the International Telecommunication Union Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T), that targets systematic performance evaluations of beyond-eMBB services. The methodology relies on the definition of a QoE KPI, i.e., the interactivity score (i-score), on top of three QoS KPIs measuring service latency, stability, and continuity. To this aim, we perform a multi-service measurement campaign on two 5G networks across two cities in Sweden, during which we run a large number of tests compliant with the ITU-T methodology, and analyze the collected data. Our results empirically validate the methodology, showcasing its ability of capturing heterogeneous service characteristics and requirements, as well as the interdependencies between i-score and QoS KPIs, and the impact of different factors on QoS/QoE performance, including user mobility, connection capability, and server location. © 2024 IEEE.
