In this paper, we present a new construction of maximal distance separable (MDS) array codes with three parity columns. We present an efficient encoding algorithm for our new codes and show that our new codes have lower encoding complexity than all the existing MDS codes under the same parameters. The essential reasons of obtaining lower encoding complexity for our codes are of two-folds: (i) our codes are well-designed in a cyclic polynomial ring with only cyclic shifts and XORs being involved in the operations;(ii) our codes are designed based on the efficient schedule algorithm that can minimize the number of operations in the coding procedure. Moreover, our codes can support much more parameters compared with the existing MDS array codes, such as the EVENODD codes and STAR codes. We also present an efficient decoding method for the proposed codes. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper introduces the Federated Learning-Empowered Blockchain-based Data Sharing Scheme (FLBC-DSS), a novel framework designed to enhance data security and efficiency in Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) environments. By integrating federated learning with blockchain technology, FLBC-DSS addresses the critical challenges of data privacy and unauthorized access, promoting secure, decentralized data sharing across various industrial sectors. Utilizing zk-SNARKs, the scheme provides a mechanism for anonymous data verification without compromising data integrity. Performance evaluations conducted using Hyperledger Fabric and SecureBoost demonstrate significant improvements in prediction accuracy and computational efficiency compared to traditional approaches. The implementation of non-cooperative game theory further illustrates the economic benefits of FLBC-DSS, highlighting its potential to increase profitability through strategic data sharing. The results affirm the effectiveness of FLBC-DSS in leveraging advanced cryptographic and machine learning techniques to foster a secure, transparent, and efficient digital ecosystem for IIoT. © 2024 IEEE.

Two-dimensional(2D) alternating cation(ACI) perovskite surface defects,especially dominant iodine vacancies(V_Ⅰ) and undercoordinated Pb^(2+),limit the performance of perovskite solar cells(PVSCs).To address the issue,1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium trifluoro-methane-sulfonate(BMIMOTF) and its iodide counterpart(BMIMI) are utilized to modify the perovskite surface *** find that BMIMI can change the perovskite surface,whereas BMIMOTF shows a nondestructive and more effective defect passivation,giving significantly reduced defect density and suppressed charge-carrier nonradiative *** mainly attributes to the marked passivation efficacy of OTF-anion on V_Ⅰ and undercoordinated Pb^(2+),rather than BMIMI^(+) *** from the rational surface-modification of BMMIMOTF,the films exhibit an optimized energy level alignment,enhanced hydrophobicity and suppressed ion ***,the BMIMOTF-modified devices achieve an impressive efficiency of 21.38% with a record open-circuit voltage of 1.195 V,which is among the best efficiencies reported for 2D PVSCs,and display greatly enhanced humidity and thermal stability.

Recently, mobile edge computing (MEC) has been considered as a promising solution to address the challenges arising from the growing computationally intensive applications and limited computation capability of mobile devices. Thus, the resource allocation is crucial for ensuring the system performance of MEC. Recent deep learning-based resource allocation (DLRA) methods achieve preferable performance in real-time. However, in practical scenarios, the number of users often changes, which leads to a decrease in the performance of DLRA methods. Thus, once the number of users changes, the traditional DLRA methods need to retrain their neural networks, which consumes a lot of computing resources. To address this issue, this paper proposes a continual learning-based resource allocation (CLRA) method to jointly optimize multiple resource including offloading decision, power control, time slot assignment and computation resource distribution in MEC system. Our CLRA method is able to avoid forgetting previous knowledge when the number of users in the MEC system changes by selecting a small number of the most representative samples from the past and relearning. Experimental results show that, our proposed CLRA method achieves a better performance than the traditional DLRA method in terms of the higher quality of service's (QoS's) satisfaction rate and the less energy consumption. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. Spiking neural networks (SNNs) have gained sig-nificant attention as a promising framework in computational neuroscience and artificial intelligence, offering benefits such as low energy consumption and minimal memory requirements. Despite these advantages, their practical deployment is hindered by several challenges, particularly in performance optimization. This paper introduces a novel methodology to enhance the performance of SNNs in image processing by leveraging a bit-plane-based coding scheme. The proposed approach is specifically designed to improve the accuracy of SNNs without increasing their model size. Comprehensive experimental evaluations demonstrate the efficacy of this coding strategy across multiple datasets. To the best of our knowledge, this work is the first to explore the application of bit-plane representation in the context of SNNs.

Applications that support multimedia data such as medical pictures and videos, video broadcasting, and secure video conferencing consume vast quantities of information that require large numbers of servers to provide services for the many client users who access them. Cloud-based sensitive data becomes increasingly important for the respective users to be kept confidential without infringing confidentiality, integrity, and availability. We propose a framework based on the OpenStack cloud-computing platform for multimedia data security. A prototype framework with a helper tool EncSwift is implemented, which allows stringent data access control and applying the data-at-rest Over-Encryption approach. The implementation is evaluated for computation of cryptography operations, cost of communications, and update policy consequences for the framework. With OpenStack Swift’s open source and modular design, our multimedia data management and management framework is well suited to protecting and managing clouds’ multimedia with low computational costs as shown in the experimental results. © 2023 IEEE.

Blockchain technology has garnered increasing attention from researchers. Because blockchain systems may contain malicious or spatially limited nodes that may delay block verification and reduce block transmission rate, this work proposes a block transmission model by designing and using special clusters. This work proposes the cluster formation and selection mechanisms. Nodes are grouped into clusters in a blockchain, and clusters with high fitness values are chosen to transmit blocks by calculating their trust values and block transmission rates. The proposed method is compared with the peers: Layer-Chain, BlockP2P-EP and RNS. According to experimental findings, the proposed method is superior to its peers regarding the time needed for block synchronization and transmission, block occupation storage ratio, transaction throughput, and block transmission success ratio. © 2024 IEEE.

To enable wireless federated learning (FL) in communication resource-constrained networks, two communication schemes, i.e., digital and analog ones, are effective solutions. In this paper, we quantitatively compare these two techniques, highlighting their essential differences as well as respectively suitable scenarios. We first examine both digital and analog transmission schemes, together with a unified and fair comparison framework under imbalanced device sampling, strict latency targets, and transmit power constraints. A universal convergence analysis under various imperfections is established for evaluating the performance of FL over wireless networks. These analytical results reveal that the fundamental difference between the digital and analog communications lies in whether communication and computation are jointly designed or not. The digital scheme decouples the communication design from FL computing tasks, making it difficult to support uplink transmission from massive devices with limited bandwidth and hence the performance is mainly communication-limited. In contrast, the analog communication allows over-the-air computation (AirComp) and achieves better spectrum utilization. However, the computation-oriented analog transmission reduces power efficiency, and its performance is sensitive to computation errors from imperfect channel state information (CSI). Furthermore, device sampling for both schemes are optimized and differences in sampling optimization are analyzed. Numerical results verify the theoretical analysis and affirm the superior performance of the sampling optimization. © 2002-2012 IEEE.
