Improving predictive performance in e-learning through hybrid 2-tier feature selection and hyper parameter-optimized 3-tier ensemble modeling

The paper presents a new feature selection technique developed in detail here to address improved prediction accuracy not only for the machine-learning algorithm but also for student outcomes related to the learning environment. It is a feature selection methodology, combined with Ridge (L2) regularization and the Boruta optimization clubbed in a two-tier approach named as BR²-2 T, which results in the most effective feature set selection process. To be specific, the present study developed a three-tier ensemble model that consolidates Random Forest with Bayesian Optimization methods Support Vector Machine with random search, and Gradient Boosting with Particle Swam Optimization (PSO) for performing hyperparameter tuning. Some sophisticated techniques applied in this study are the use of Z-score normalization so as to standardize variable distribution, Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique (SMOTE) for handling imbalanced dataset and Multiple Imputation by Chained Equations (MICE) for handling messiness among items. The evaluation of the projected approach shows improvement in accuracies, which can attain a maximum of 98.74%. The comparative assessment of the proposed strategy unveiled that predictive modelling of educational outcomes is effectively enhanced more than common methods of topics related to education. The research sharpens student success strategies and educational pedagogy by using powerful algorithms in its direction of decision-making. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's institute of computer Applications and Management 2024.

Classification of brain images is a very challenging problem among the most helpful and commonly employed procedures in the medical system. Deep learning, a subset of artificial intelligence, has pioneered new techniques for automatic medical image investigation. The goal of this study was to create two deep learning-based hybrid models to segment and classify brain MRI data. The first hybrid model is a combination of Fully Convolutional Networks and Residual Networks for segmentation and classification. The second is a hybrid of SegNet for segmentation and MobileNet for classification. The analysis is based on a labelled dataset containing images of glioma, meningioma, pituitary, and no tumor. The hybrid models proposed above are built using Python. The suggested models exhibit a high accuracy of 93.9% and 91.3% for a brain MRI dataset, respectively. Furthermore, the proposed models were compared and evaluated against other existing hybrid models in terms of dice score, Positive predictive value, False predictive value, precision, recall, specificity, and F1 score. As a result, the proposed deep-learning technique can assist doctors as well as radiologists in detecting brain tumors early. © 2023, The Institution of Engineers (India).

Blockchain technology has the potential to revolutionize the education sector by improving the legitimacy and security of academic procedures. The academic learning record management records the learner’s academic qualifications and achievements. Keeping track of higher education academic learning records is essential to assess students’ credentials and advance their careers. The COVID-19 outbreak highlighted the need for flexible and collaborative learning systems. However, the processes of recording credit accumulation, verification, and transfer are complicated by the disparate credit schemes found in different universities. This creates the need for an academic credit management system. Secure learning record management is necessary because validating the professional and academic accomplishments listed on the resumé currently poses a challenge. Blockchain can remedy this scenario by guaranteeing data privacy, reducing the possibility of hacking, and offering transparent, traceable academic credentials as well as verification of other achievements. Despite these benefits, challenges are still associated with implementing blockchain in academic learning record management. These include handling multiple credentials with a unique identity, absence of smart contracts, on-chain and centralized storage, scalability problems, transaction costs, restricted control over student data, and inadequate student data recording standards. The main objective of this review is to examine recent studies on blockchain-driven academic learning record management by categorizing them into learning record management and academic credit management. The spotlight of our discussion here is on developing a model for detecting snakes present in the agricultural fields using cameras and machine learning algorithms. The idea is to construct a machine learning model to identify the snakes, which will be trained on a vast set of images of snakes. These images will be carefully selected to include the snake patterns, skin color of different species of snakes (extraction of the unique features). This is done to train the model properly to identify different types of snakes that the farmer encounters in the fields. Most famers are unaware and have a need for a way to detect these snakes so that they can either avoid them or get rid of them. Hence, this system can be implemented to prevent thousands of deaths and can help famers alleviate the repercussions of snake bites. Mistakes in recognizing potentially harmful animal species based only on visual cues are major contributors to the high death toll from venomous animal attacks. Since they spend so much time in the fields, where rice and wheat are cultivated, farmers are at a higher risk of being bitten by a snake than the general population. Because of their ignorance, illiterate farmers are more inclined to believe in superstitions, which can lead to their untimely deaths from snakebites despite medical intervention. Animals that would normally pose no threat to humans are responsible for the deaths of thousands of people every year because of environmental factors. However, because it is hard for humans to recognize these dangers, a new design paradigm has been developed to make it simpler. Researchers in the field of animal biology can use it to search for endangered species. Predators may enter gardens and green areas like tea and coffee plantations. There is not yet a plan in place to implement automated sorting for discovering distinctions. With the rapid development of Large Language Model (LLM) technology, it has become an indispensable force in biomedical data analysis research. However, biomedical researchers currently have limited knowledge about LLM. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a summary of LLM applications in biomedical data analysis. Herein, we propose this review by summarizing the latest research work on LLM in biomedicine. In this review, LLM techniques are first outlined. We then discuss biomedical datasets and frameworks for biomedical data analysis, followed by a detailed analysis of LLM applications in genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, radiomics, single-cell analysis, medical texts and drug discovery. Finally, the challenges of LLM in biomedical data analysis are discussed. In summary, this review is intended for researchers interested in LLM technology and aims to help them understand and apply LLM in biomedical data analysis research. © 2013 IEEE.

India's banking sector has grown rapidly in modern times. With increased bank functioning, frauds skyrocket. Debit cards, Internet Banking, and ATM cards are among the financial services offered today. These services attracted many new customers worldwide. We present a Machine Learning technique to detect credit card fraud. The global use of credit cards is expanding significantly. Thus, the bank server can track these transactions using Machine Learning. These algorithms detect or anticipate transaction fraud. Each transaction has a few functions in the dataset. We should classify and identify fraudulent transactions from those transactions. The work suggests using Machine Learning calculation for this. © 2024 IEEE.

Skin melanoma, a dangerous kind of skin cancer, necessitates accurate identification and diagnosis to improve patient outcomes. The use of deep learning algorithms into medical imaging promises significant advancements in skin disease analysis, particularly melanoma diagnosis. This study looks at the usage of a novel optimisation technique, the African Gorilla Troops Optimizer (AGTO), to enhance deep learning models in the segmentation and analysis of skin images. The AGTO, which is based on African gorilla groups' social and hunting activities, is an effective approach of improving convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for accurate and reliable skin image segmentation. The proposed approach uses AGTO to distinguish melanoma lesions from benign skin disorders, which increases their identification. Extensive research on benchmark skin image datasets has confirmed the AGTO-enhanced deep learning model's durability and performance, emphasising its clinical use in dermatology and the proposed model shows 98 %accuracy. This work not only underlines the need of advanced optimisation techniques in medical image processing, but it also paves the way for more effective diagnostic tools for skin problems. © 2024 IEEE.

A dandelion algorithm(DA) is a recently developed intelligent optimization algorithm for function optimization problems. Many of its parameters need to be set by experience in DA,which might not be appropriate for all optimization problems. A self-adapting and efficient dandelion algorithm is proposed in this work to lower the number of DA's parameters and simplify DA's structure. Only the normal sowing operator is retained;while the other operators are discarded. An adaptive seeding radius strategy is designed for the core dandelion. The results show that the proposed algorithm achieves better performance on the standard test functions with less time consumption than its competitive peers. In addition, the proposed algorithm is applied to feature selection for credit card fraud detection(CCFD), and the results indicate that it can obtain higher classification and detection performance than the-state-of-the-art methods.
