The most prevalent issue in the supply chain ecosystem is introducing transparency to the system. Another issue is fostering trust among various stakeholders to support successful process execution. Depending on the domain and the stakeholders, the supply chain process may change. Thus, solving the issue is challenging. Blockchain technology, sometimes referred to as distributed ledger technology, is beneficial in many ways in a variety of industries, including finance and healthcare. Blockchain based model can resolve the issues of traditional supply chain ecosystem. It creates a decentralized and transparent system where every decision is taken with the help of consensus of the associated stakeholders. This supports an immutable ledger so unauthorized modification is not supported. In this article, we address the issues that the supply chain ecosystem faces as well as the benefits of blockchain technology in resolving these issues. As well as some of the remaining challenges and opportunities, other aspects of blockchain technology are explored that will enable it flourish in future supply chains. © 2023 IEEE.

Effective short text classification via the fusion of hybrid features for IoT social data

Nowadays short texts can be widely found in various social data in relation to the 5G-enabled Internet of Things (IoT). Short text classification is a challenging task due to its sparsity and the lack of context. Previous studies mainly tackle these problems by enhancing the semantic information or the statistical information individually. However, the improvement achieved by a single type of information is limited, while fusing various information may help to improve the classification accuracy more effectively. To fuse various information for short text classification, this article proposes a feature fusion method that integrates the statistical feature and the comprehensive semantic feature together by using the weighting mechanism and deep learning models. In the proposed method, we apply Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) to generate word vectors on the sentence level automatically, and then obtain the statistical feature, the local semantic feature and the overall semantic feature using Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) weighting approach, Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Bidirectional Gate Recurrent Unit (BiGRU). Then, the fusion feature is accordingly obtained for classification. Experiments are conducted on five popular short text classification datasets and a 5G-enabled IoT social dataset and the results show that our proposed method effectively improves the classification performance.

It is often the case that data are with multiple views in real-world applications. Fully exploring the information of each view is significant for making data more representative. However, due to various limitations and failures in data collection and pre-processing, it is inevitable for real data to suffer from view missing and data scarcity. The coexistence of these two issues makes it more challenging to achieve the pattern classification task. Currently, to our best knowledge, few appropriate methods can well-handle these two issues simultaneously. Aiming to draw more attention from the community to this challenge, we propose a new task in this paper, called few-shot partial multi-view learning, which focuses on overcoming the negative impact of the view-missing issue in the low-data regime. The challenges of this task are twofold: (i) it is difficult to overcome the impact of data scarcity under the interference of missing views;(ii) the limited number of data exacerbates information scarcity, thus making it harder to address the view-missing issue in turn. To address these challenges, we propose a new unified Gaussian dense-anchoring method. The unified dense anchors are learned for the limited partial multi-view data, thereby anchoring them into a unified dense representation space where the influence of data scarcity and view missing can be alleviated. We conduct extensive experiments to evaluate our method. The results on Cub-googlenet-doc2vec, Handwritten, Caltech102, Scene15, Animal, ORL, tieredImagenet, and Birds-200-2011 datasets validate its effectiveness. —Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have emerged as the potential aerial base stations (BSs) to improve terrestrial communications. However, the limited onboard energy and antenna power of a UAV restrict its communication range and transmission capability. To address these limitations, this work employs collaborative beamforming through a UAV-enabled virtual antenna array to improve transmission performance from the UAV to terrestrial mobile users, under interference from non-associated BSs and dynamic channel conditions. Specifically, we introduce a memory-based random walk model to more accurately depict the mobility patterns of terrestrial mobile users. Following this, we formulate a multi-objective optimization problem (MOP) focused on maximizing the transmission rate while minimizing the flight energy consumption of the UAV swarm. Given the NP-hard nature of the formulated MOP and the highly dynamic environment, we transform this problem into a multi-objective Markov decision process and propose an improved evolutionary multi-objective reinforcement learning algorithm. Specifically, this algorithm introduces an evolutionary learning approach to obtain the approximate Pareto set for the formulated MOP. Moreover, the algorithm incorporates a long short-term memory network and hyper-sphere-based task selection method to discern the movement patterns of terrestrial mobile users and improve the diversity of the obtained Pareto set. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method effectively generates a diverse range of non-dominated policies and outperforms existing methods. Additional simulations demonstrate the scalability and robustness of the proposed CB-based method under different system parameters and various unexpected circumstances. © 2025 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.. CT of the urinary system, abdomen, and kidneys appears to improve kidney stone screening and identification. Segmentation and categorization are essential for kidney stone identification and management. This work developed a semi-automatic kidney stone detection system using geometric concepts and image processing. The main steps include model training, feature extraction, segmentation, embossing, and preprocessing. Preprocessing involves trimming the input image to remove unnecessary kidney regions to focus on critical CT scan locations. Relief embossing enhanced image details. Segmentation accurately classified veins and blood arteries to define kidney stone boundaries. CNN-RELM was our training model. Compared to CNN and ELM models, the recommended system performed better. Its 93.87% kidney stone detection and localization accuracy prove its reliability. The semi-automatic system's reliable kidney stone detection and segmentation method may improve clinical decision-making. Combining CNN-RELM modeling and enhanced image processing could lead to medical imaging applications. © 2025 IEEE.

Pancreatic cancer poses a significant challenge in early detection and treatment due to its malignant nature within the digestive tract. Recent studies, such as those conducted by the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, predict that pancreatic cancer will rank as the world's second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in 2020. Various methods have been explored in the literature to segment pancreatic tumors and detect lesions from CT images, crucial for assessing severity. One such method is the Min-Max segmentation algorithm, which effectively removes the jaundiced sclera region from affected eyes by analysing color gradients, offering more feasible and discriminative solutions. Additionally, the utilization of Whale Optimized feature-based selection aids in extracting optimal features for optimization purposes. Through an analysis of different classification algorithms and the implementation of a suggested technique for achieving optimum solutions and maximum accuracy, the proposed work is structured into two phases. Phase I involves pre-processing and artifact removal, followed by segmentation, while Phase II focuses on feature extraction, feature selection, and classification. The initial step of pre-processing the image facilitates pixel location using intensity measures, crucial for accurate tumor segmentation and minimizing false detection. Ultimately, the proposed approach aims to design and develop an optimal feature selection strategy for classifying pancreatic cancer tumors in PET/CT images, resulting in increased classification efficiency 92% and improved cancer tumor detection rates with compare other existing approaches. © 2024 IEEE.

Hand sign language has been done as physical movements in natural languages that humans have used since ancient times, along with letters, words, and spoken language. This paper presents a real-time method to identify threatening signs by criminals during interrogation, which increases their criminal rank and helps to reach conclusions. The proposed method is to install a camera of appropriate quality in front of the offender, record hand gestures in a specific area of the hand, apply some image processing techniques, such as contrast enhancement techniques, to the image to facilitate recognition as input, and then classify the images using a convolutional neural network (CNN) for a specific problem with high specifications for that topic by and using AlexNet. The accuracy of the presented method is more than 94.2% in real-time testing. © 2024 IEEE.

Graph neural networks have been demonstrated as a powerful paradigm for effectively learning graph-structured data on the web and mining content from it. Current leading graph models require a large number of labeled samples for training, which unavoidably leads to overfitting in few-shot scenarios. Recent research has sought to alleviate this issue by simultaneously leveraging graph learning and meta-learning paradigms. However, these graph meta-learning models assume the availability of numerous meta-training tasks to learn transferable meta-knowledge. Such assumption may not be feasible in the real world due to the difficulty of constructing tasks and the substantial costs involved. Therefore, we propose a SiMple yet effectIve approach for graph few-shot Learning with fEwer tasks, named SMILE. We introduce a dual-level mixup strategy, encompassing both within-task and across-task mixup, to simultaneously enrich the available nodes and tasks in meta-learning. Moreover, we explicitly leverage the prior information provided by the node degrees in the graph to encode expressive node representations. Theoretically, we demonstrate that SMILE can enhance the model generalization ability. Empirically, SMILE consistently outperforms other competitive models by a large margin across all evaluated datasets with in-domain and cross-domain settings. Crop diseases pose significant challenges to global food security and agricultural sustainability. Timely and accurate disease detection is crucial for effective disease management and minimizing crop losses. In recent years, hyperspectral imaging has emerged as a promising technology for non-destructive and early disease detection in crops. This research paper presents an advanced deep learning approach for enhancing crop disease detection using hyperspectral imaging. The primary objective is to propose a hybrid Autoencoder-Generative Adversarial Network (AE-GAN) model that effectively extracts meaningful features from hyperspectral images and addresses the limitations of existing techniques. The hybrid AE-GAN model combines the strengths of the Autoencoder for feature extraction and the Generative Adversarial Network for synthetic sample generation. Through extensive evaluation, the proposed model outperforms existing techniques, achieving exceptional accuracy in crop disease detection. The results demonstrate the superiority of the hybrid AE-GAN model, offering substantial advantages in terms of feature extraction, synthetic sample generation, and utilization of spatial and spectral information. The proposed model’s contributions to sustainable agriculture and global food security make it a valuable tool for advancing agricultural practices and enhancing crop health monitoring. With its promising implications, the hybrid AE-GAN model represents a significant advancement in crop disease detection, paving the way for a more resilient and food-secure future. © 2024 – IOS Press. The Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the most intriguing technological revolutions of the last few years due to its rapid expansion. The advancement of IoT applications is dependent on standard and real-time communication protocols. The IoT protocols are designed to enable reliable messaging. However, the selection of a standard and efficient messaging protocol is a difficult and intimidating task for any organization. One of the main challenging issues facing the loT is wireless sen-sor networks (WSNs). The devices that make up these networks have low levels of memory, processing power, and energy. Certain restricted protocols must be in place to function in WSNs due to their constrained nature. In the context of a business application for monitoring, this paper shows the experimental performance of two protocols: Message Queue Telemetry Transport (MQTT) and Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP). © 2024 IEEE.
