A blockchain can be taken as a decentralized and distributed public database. In order to achieve data consistency of the system nodes, the execution of a consensus algorithm is necessary and required in the case of decentralized environments. Simply speaking, the consensus is that every node agrees on some record in the blockchain. There are many kinds of consensus algorithms in blockchain environments, and each consensus algorithm has its own proper application scenario. Here we firstly analysis and compare various popular consensus algorithms in blockchain environments, and then as voting theory has systematically studied the decision-making in a group, the traditional methods of voting theory is summarized and listed, including (Position) scoring rules, Copeland, Maximin, Ranked pairs, Voting trees, Bucklin, Plurality with runoff, Single transferable vote, Baldwin rule, and Nanson rule. Finally, we introduce the voting methods from voting theory to consensus algorithms in the blockchain to improve its performance.

Big data is a term the data or figures that are so complex that normal data collecting applications are unable to manage them. And with the increasing amount of data, challenges of accessing the data also arise. The world's capacity to store information is increasing very fast so we required to store and manage the data properly according to survey the data available to us will doubled in every 40 months since the 1980s to 2012, every day we produce 2.5 Exabyte's (2.5 × 1018) of data. The main challenge faced by big data is the storage issue. Big data require large storing capacity, which could not fulfill using the traditional storage based system. This challenge can be met by using the cloud system for warehousing. © 2018 IEEE.

As a vulnerable part of the cerebral blood supply, pathology of small vessels can cause serious problems such as Cerebral Small Vessel Diseases (CSVD). It has also been shown that CSVD is related to neurodegeneration, such as Alzheimer's disease. With the advancement of 7 Tesla MRI systems, higher spatial image resolution can be achieved, enabling the depiction of very small vessels in the brain. Non-Deep Learning-based approaches for vessel segmentation, e.g., Frangi's vessel enhancement with subsequent thresholding, are capable of segmenting medium to large vessels but often fail to segment small vessels. The sensitivity of these methods to small vessels can be increased by extensive parameter tuning or by manual corrections, albeit making them time-consuming, laborious, and not feasible for larger datasets. This paper proposes a deep learning architecture to automatically segment small vessels in 7 Tesla 3D Time-of-Flight (ToF) Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA) data. The algorithm was trained and evaluated on a small imperfect semi-automatically segmented dataset of only 11 subjects;using six for training, two for validation, and three for testing. The deep learning model based on U-Net Multi-Scale Supervision was trained using the training subset and was made equivariant to elastic deformations in a self-supervised manner using deformation-aware learning to improve the generalisation performance. The proposed technique was evaluated quantitatively and qualitatively against the test set and achieved a Dice score of 80.44 ± 0.83. Furthermore, the result of the proposed method was compared against a selected manually segmented region (62.07 resultant Dice) and has shown a considerable improvement (18.98%) with deformation-aware learning. Digital Archæoludology (DAL) is a new field of study involving the analysis and reconstruction of ancient games from incomplete descriptions and archaeological evidence using modern computational techniques. The aim is to provide digital tools and methods to help game historians and other researchers better understand traditional games, their development throughout recorded human history, and their relationship to the development of human culture and mathematical knowledge. This work is being explored in the ERC-funded Digital Ludeme Project. The aim of this inaugural international research meeting on DAL is to gather together leading experts in relevant disciplines – computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computational phylogenetics, mathematics, history, archaeology, anthropology, etc. – to discuss the key themes and establish the foundations for this new field of research, so that it may continue beyond the lifetime of its initiating project. Today, retailers spend considerable efforts to provide a personalized shopping experience to their customers. As data-driven marketing helps to meet customer requirements, it is important to understand individual needs. However, offline stores-unlike their online counterparts-have great difficulty knowing their customers' needs due to a lack of proper context information. In this paper, we proposed a framework for estimating customer interests by using various sensor devices. The participants in our pilot study expected that recommendation services that adopt their interests would help to reduce their shopping time. As a result, shop assistants will have a stronger ability to understand, analyze, and even predict customer interests in the near future. © Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

In this paper, we propose a robust representation learning model called Adaptive Structure-constrained Low-Rank Coding (AS-LRC) for the latent representation of data. To recover the underlying subspaces more accurately, AS-LRC seamlessly integrates an adaptive weighting based block-diagonal structure-constrained low-rank representation and the group sparse salient feature extraction into a unified framework. Specifically, AS-LRC performs the latent decomposition of given data into a low-rank reconstruction by a block-diagonal codes matrix, a group sparse locality-adaptive salient feature part and a sparse error part. To enforce the block-diagonal structures adaptive to different real datasets for the low-rank recovery, AS-LRC clearly computes an auto-weighting matrix based on the locality-adaptive features and multiplies by the low-rank coefficients for direct minimization at the same time. This encourages the codes to be block-diagonal and can avoid the tricky issue of choosing optimal neighborhood size or kernel width for the weight assignment, suffered in most local geometrical structures-preserving low-rank coding methods. In addition, our AS-LRC selects the L2, 1-norm on the projection for extracting group sparse features rather than learning low-rank features by Nuclear-norm regularization, which can make learnt features robust to noise and outliers in samples, and can also make the feature coding process efficient. Extensive visualizations and numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of our AS-LRC for image representation and recovery.

The purpose of this research is to build a model of precision agriculture to increase the productivity of medium and small-scale agriculture in Indonesia. This research used a descriptive method by conducting a literature study on the concept of precision agriculture and analysis of data related to agriculture in Indonesia. Extreme weather changes in Indonesia have an impact on the decline in agricultural production. While an understanding of environmental conditions is the primary key to agriculture, this research explained what data is needed in precision agriculture, how to obtain and process data, also explained how to visualize information through geographic information systems. This research also conducted an assessment of the built model. The assessment process is implemented by analysing the suitability of the model based on farmers' needs. The results of this study concluded that the model can be developed in the implementation phase. This research is expected to provide a clear explanation of the system requirements and also can reduce risk at the system development and implementation stage.

Consider a problem where 4k given vectors need to be partitioned into k clusters of four vectors each. A cluster of four vectors is called a quad, and the cost of a quad is the sum of the component-wise maxima of the four vectors in the quad. The problem is to partition the given 4k vectors into k quads with minimum total cost. We analyze a straightforward matching-based algorithm and prove that this algorithm is a23 -approximation algorithm for this problem. We further analyze the performance of this algorithm on a hierarchy of special cases of the problem and prove that, in one particular case, the algorithm is a54 -approximation algorithm. In a increasingly globalized world, it is very important to help students to acquire the hard and soft skills needed to cope with the challenges they will face when working in such environments. However, even though students find this subject interesting and volunteer for it, it is hard, even impossible to teach college students such a distributed fashion of teamwork. In this paper, a case study is provided to illustrate the methodology and experiences of a joint course, distributed software development, of multiple universities from Asia, Europe, North and South Americas. The results show that student can get the spirit, effective communication for such web-based teamwork environment and achieve software project development. The recent developments because of the Covid-19 pandemic are the facts that now students have to cooperate remotely with each other not only across continents but also inside their own city or country. It has increased the awareness of the need for this kind of training and effectively improved the interactions between team elements in different countries and improved the students' feeling of belonging to their team.

The accurate assessment of infants' pain is important for understanding their medical conditions and developing suitable treatment. Pediatric studies reported that the inadequate treatment of infants' pain might cause various neuroanatomical and psychological problems. The fact that infants can not communicate verbally motivates increasing interests to develop automatic pain assessment system that provides continuous and accurate pain assessment. In this paper, we propose a new set of pain facial activity features to describe the infants' facial expression of pain. Both dynamic facial texture feature and dynamic geometric feature are extracted from video sequences and utilized to classify facial expression of infants as pain or no pain. For the dynamic analysis of facial expression, we construct spatiotemporal domain representation for texture features and time series representation (i.e. time series of frame-level features) for geometric features. Multiple facial features are combined through both feature fusion and decision fusion schemes to evaluate their effectiveness in infants' pain assessment. Experiments are conducted on the video acquired from NICU infants, and the best accuracy of the proposed pain assessment approaches is 95.6%. Moreover, we find that although decision fusion does not perform better than that of feature fusion, the False Negative Rate of decision fusion (6.2%) is much lower than that of feature fusion (25%). © Copyright 2018 The Institute of Electronics Information and Communication Engineers.
