The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of technology-based interventions on academic performance. To achieve this purpose a systematic review was conducted. Within the scope of this study EBSCO, Springer, ProQuest, science Direct, Wiley Online Library, Taylor and Francis Online, databases were scanned, and 18 studies were included in the review. Our results show that the iPad is the most preferred digital device for enhancing math and reading skills and significant results can be seen when used. Similar positive effects were observed with other technological devices, reinforcing the effectiveness of technology as a tool for supporting academic performance. This evidence underscores the value of incorporating digital devices in educational strategies, particularly for improving key academic skills.

It is shown that by an appropriate canonical transformation, Kepler dynamics can be put in the form which allows one to exhibit the structure of the symmetry transformations related to the superintegrability. They appear to fit nicely into a general scheme of nonlinear realizations. In new coordinates, the Kepler dynamics results from dimensional reduction of that describing low-energy mesons with spontaneously broken chiral symmetry.

Inter-rater reliability (IRR), which is a prerequisite of high-quality ratings and assessments, may be affected by contextual variables such as the rater's or ratee's gender, major, or experience. Identification of such heterogeneity sources in IRR is important for implementation of policies with the potential to decrease measurement error and to increase IRR by focusing on the most relevant subgroups. In this study, we propose a flexible approach for assessing IRR in cases of heterogeneity due to covariates by directly modeling differences in variance components. We use Bayes factors to select the best performing model, and we suggest using Bayesian model-averaging as an alternative approach for obtaining IRR and variance component estimates, allowing us to account for model uncertainty. We use inclusion Bayes factors considering the whole model space to provide evidence for or against differences in variance components due to covariates. The proposed method is compared with other Bayesian and frequentist approaches in a simulation study, and we demonstrate its superiority in some situations. Finally, we provide real data examples from grant proposal peer-review, demonstrating the usefulness of this method and its flexibility in the generalization of more complex designs. © 2022, CC BY.

Measuring "why" in recommender systems: A comprehensive survey on the evaluation of explainable recommendation

Explainable recommendation has shown its great advantages for improving recommendation persuasiveness, user satisfaction, system transparency and among others. A fundamental problem of explainable recommendation is how to evaluate the explanations. In the past few years, various evaluation strategies have been proposed. However, they are scattered in different papers, and there lacks a systematic and detailed comparison between them. To bridge this gap, in this paper, we comprehensively review the previous work, and provide different taxonomies according to the evaluation perspectives and evaluation methods. Beyond summarization, we also analyze the (dis)advantages of existing evaluation methods, and provide a series of guidelines on how to select them. The contents of this survey are concluded from more than 100 papers from top-tier conferences like IJCAI, AAAI, TheWebConf, Recsys, UMAP and IUI, and the complete comparisons are presented at https://***/sheets/VKrpYTcwVH6KXgdy/MO DOC/. Examine the significance of the Cattaneo-Christov flux model on the Marangoni convection 3D flow of tetra hybrid nanofluid combined with Hall current in the present study. When exposed to a fluctuating magnetic flux, it demonstrates electrical conductivity over a stretchy sheet. Using the Cattaneo-Christov double diffusion (CCDD) model, the problem is simulated. In this work, the CCDD model is used to analyze the mass and heat transmission tetra hybrid nanofluid. Basic Fourier's and Fick's laws are generalized by their application. A tetra hybrid nanofluid consisting of Molybdenum disulfide (Mos2), copper (Cu), Silicon dioxide (SiO2) and cobalt ferrite (CoFe2o4), propylene glycol (C3H8O2) as the base fluid is used. This model is essential for precisely predicting the behaviors of heat transfer in nanofluid flows since it takes thermal relaxation time into consideration. Its uses include optimizing heat exchanger performance, enhancing cooling systems in electronics, and better thermal management in microfluidic devices. The basic set of equations is resolved employing the numerical technique (bvp4c). The nanofluid, hybrid, trihybrid, and tetra hybrid nanofluid graphs are all compared. The stretching ratio parameter indicates rising trends in the flow distributions, although the opposite performance is observed for thermal and concentration distributions. Rate of heat and mass transmission improve of tetra hybrid, trihybrid, hybrid nanofluids as increase the values of Marangoni convection. © 2025

For ejpA(n), we prove analogs of the classical formula for the partition function, (formula presented), where σ1 is the sum of divisors function. We prove several congruences for e2p4(n), the sum of e2 over the set of partitions of n into four parts. Define the function prej(λ) to be the multiset of monomials in ej(λ), which is itself a partition. If A is a set of partitions, we define prej(A) to be the set of partitions prej(λ) as λ ranges over A. If P(n) is the set of all partitions of n, we conjecture that the number of odd partitions in pre2(P(n)) is at least the number of distinct partitions. We prove some results about pre2(B(n)), where B(n) is the set of binary partitions of n. LLaVA-docent: Instruction tuning with multimodal large language model to support art appreciation education

Despite the development of various AI systems to support learning in various domains, AI assistance for art appreciation education has not been extensively explored. Art appreciation, often perceived as an unfamiliar and challenging endeavor for most students, can be more accessible with a generative AI enabled conversation partner that provides tailored questions and encourages the audience to deeply appreciate artwork. This study explores the application of multimodal large language models (MLLMs) in art appreciation education, with a focus on developing LLaVA-Docent, a model designed to serve as a personal tutor for art appreciation. Our approach involved design and development research, focusing on iterative enhancement to design and develop the application to produce a functional MLLM-enabled chatbot along with a data design framework for art appreciation education. To that end, we established a virtual dialogue dataset that was generated by GPT-4, which was instrumental in training our MLLM, LLaVA-Docent. The performance of LLaVA-Docent was evaluated by benchmarking it against alternative settings and revealed its distinct strengths and weaknesses. Our findings highlight the efficacy of the MMLM-based personalized art appreciation chatbot and demonstrate its applicability for a novel approach in which art appreciation is taught and experienced. © 2024 The Authors

Unlike traditional hierarchical controllers for robotic leg prostheses and exoskeletons, continuous systems could allow persons with mobility impairments to walk more naturally in real-world environments without requiring high-level switching between locomotion modes. To support these next-generation controllers, we developed a new system called KIFNet (Kinematics and Image Fusing Network) that uses lightweight and efficient deep learning models to continuously predict the leg kinematics during walking. We tested different sensor fusion methods to combine kinematics data from inertial sensors and computer vision data from smart glasses and found that adaptive instance normalization achieved the lowest RMSE predictions for knee and ankle joint kinematics. We also deployed our model on an embedded device. Without inference optimization, our model was 20 times faster than the previous state-of-the-art and achieved 20% higher prediction accuracies, and during some locomotor activities like stair descent, decreased RMSE up to 300%. With inference optimization, our best model achieved 125 FPS on an NVIDIA Jetson Nano. These results demonstrate the potential to build fast and accurate deep learning models for continuous prediction of leg kinematics during walking based on sensor fusion and embedded computing, therein providing a foundation for real-time continuous controllers for robotic leg prostheses and exoskeletons.

Game-based learning (GBL) can motivate learners and enable them to engage in their learning experience. Additionally, the popularity of GBL has grown in computer science and programming courses, where it can be used to develop computational thinking (CT) skills. CT is critical thinking used to apply fundamental concepts and reasoning derived from computing and computer science. Research has shown that digital GBL can improve critical thinking skills and help learners understand programming concepts, structures, and problem-solving strategies. Despite the popularity of digital GBL, analog card games and bingo games are still valuable and effective tools for learning. However, most studies on GBL that aim to train critical thinking skills have focused on digital approaches. This indicates a gap in the body of knowledge because few studies have explored the effectiveness of analog games for developing CT skills through GBL. The theoretical framework of this study is grounded in two learning theories. Constructivist theory frames learning as the construction of knowledge through a process of action, reflection, and construction. Constructionist learning theory calls for construction of artifacts, learner agency, authentic purpose, or authentic audience during the process. To investigate the design of GBL for developing CT skills and to generate discourse for its widespread adoption, the current study implemented design-based research (DBR) in an undergraduate computer science course for non-computer science majors. By addressing the gap in the literature on GBL for CT skill development, the study aimed to investigate complex learner experiences, including learner struggles and successes, alignment with learning theory principles, and design moves for future iterations of the project.
