Structurally stable (rough) flows on surfaces have only finitely many singularities and finitely many closed orbits, all of which are hyperbolic, and they have no trajectories joining saddle points. The violation of the last property leads to Ω-stable flows on surfaces, which are not structurally stable. However, in the present paper we prove that a topological classification of such flows is also reduced to a combinatorial problem. Our complete topological invariant is a multigraph, and we present a polynomial-time algorithm for the distinction of such graphs up to an isomorphism. We also present a graph criterion for orientability of the ambient manifold and a graph-associated formula for its Euler characteristic. Traveling waves for degenerate diffusive equations on networks

In this paper we consider a scalar parabolic equation on a star graph;the model is quite general but what we have in mind is the description of traffic flows at a crossroad. In particular, we do not necessarily require the continuity of the unknown function at the node of the graph and, moreover, the diffusivity can be degenerate. Our main result concerns a necessary and sufficient algebraic condition for the existence of traveling waves in the graph. We also study in great detail some examples corresponding to quadratic and logarithmic flux functions, for different diffusivities, to which our results apply. Copyright © 2017, The Authors. On the geometry of the Clairin theory of conditional symmetries for higher-order systems of PDEs with applications

This work presents a geometrical formulation of the Clairin theory of conditional symmetries for higher-order systems of partial differential equations (PDEs). We devise methods for obtaining Lie algebras of conditional symmetries from known conditional symmetries, and unnecessary previous assumptions of the theory are removed. As a consequence, new insights into other types of conditional symmetries arise. We then apply the so-called PDE Lie systems to the derivation and analysis of Lie algebras of conditional symmetries. In particular, we develop a method for obtaining solutions of a higher-order system of PDEs via the solutions and geometric properties of a PDE Lie system, whose form gives a Lie algebra of conditional symmetries of the Clairin type. Our methods are illustrated with physically relevant examples such as nonlinear wave equations, the Gauss-Codazzi equations for minimal soliton surfaces, and generalised Liouville equations. The Jagiellonian Positron Emission Tomograph (J-PET) is the first PET device built from plastic scintillators. It is a multi-purpose detector designed for medical imaging and for studies of properties of positronium atoms in porous matter and in living organisms. In this article we report on the commissioning of the J-PET detector in view of studies of positronium decays. We present results of analysis of the positron lifetime measured in the porous polymer. The obtained results prove that J-PET is capable of performing simultaneous imaging of the density distribution of annihilation points as well as positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy. © 2018, The Author(s).

Combinatorial properties of the G-degree

A strong interaction is known to exist between edge-colored graphs (which encode PL pseudo-manifolds of arbitrary dimension) and random tensor models (as a possible approach to the study of Quantum Gravity). The key tool is the G-degree of the involved graphs, which drives the 1/N expansion in the tensor models context. In the present paper - by making use of combinatorial properties concerning Hamiltonian decompositions of the complete graph - we prove that, in any even dimension d ≥ 4, the G-degree of all bipartite graphs, as well as of all (bipartite or non-bipartite) graphs representing singular manifolds, is an integer multiple of (d - 1)!. As a consequence, in even dimension, the terms of the 1/N expansion corresponding to odd powers of 1/N are null in the complex context, and do not involve colored graphs representing singular manifolds in the real context. In particular, in the 4-dimensional case, where the G-degree is shown to depend only on the regular genera with respect to an arbitrary pair of "associated" cyclic permutations, several results are obtained, relating the G-degree or the regular genus of 5-colored graphs and the Euler characteristic of the associated PL *** Codes 57Q15, 57N13, 57M15, 83E99 Copyright © 2017, The Authors. In a problem of group decision-making it is desirable to obtain a solution with the highest possible degree of agreement –consensus- among the participants. For this aim, it is necessary to have tools that facilitate the calculation of the degree of consensus in a reliable way. This study proposes a consensus index based on a statistical measure of variability of the preferences expressed by the experts in a group decision-making process and performs a specific comparative study between this index and several known consensus measures. The analysis shows that in this specific situation the proposed measure behaves in a similar way to the previous ones and it could play their role in a process of decision making in group.

The advances in sensing capabilities of smartphones give rise to a variety of mobile participatory sensing applications that collect users' personal data. Because of the existence of both sensitive, private personal data, and untrusted aggregator, serious privacy concerns on users arise. Currently, existing privacy preserving data collection methods either require bidirectional communications between an untrusted aggregator and mobile users in every aggregation period, or have high computation or communication overhead. To address these problems, we propose an efficient data aggregation approach by which an untrusted aggregator in mobile sensing can collect the statistics over the data contributed by multiple mobile users, while supporting privacy preservation of each user and data integrity verification. In this approach, information hiding and homomorphic encryption are applied to guarantee the data privacy of mobile users. In detail, a breadth-first search tree is first constructed at the initial phase among the mobile users, and then the original datum of each user is perturbed among its neighbors in ciphertext space by using information hiding and homomorphic encryption. The evaluations of our approach show that our protocol requires lower communication and computation overhead and thus more feasible for the computation constrained mobile devices. A cyber-physical system(CPS) is a system of collaborating computational elements controlling physical ***,a precursor generation of cyber-physical systems can be found in areas as diverse as aerospace,automotive,chemical processes,civil infrastructure,energy,healthcare,manufacturing and transportation,entertainment,and consumer *** generation is often referred to as embedded *** embedded systems the emphasis tends to be more on the computational elements,and less on an intense link between the computational and physical *** will lead to the problem of low resource utilization and the low real-time system *** at the above problems,based on the CPS of the mobile node for real time service,this paper proposes the effective shortest time priority algorithm and the adaptive shortest time priority *** results show that,compared with the traditional FIFO(advanced first in first out) and LSF(least slack first) algorithm,the algorithm proposed in this paper effectively reduce the deadline miss ratio,as a result,the real-time performance of the CPS are effectively improved.
