Multi-objective evolution algorithm based on decomposition(MOEA/D) had been successfully applied into many multi-objective optimization problems, which had gained a lot of attention from the community of evolutionary algorithm(EA) in the past few *** MOEA/D,a multi-objective optimization problem would be converted into a set of scalar single-objective subproblems and then utilize EA to address these subproblems *** order to further improve its performance,a local search operator, which is designed via the diverse information of neighboring individuals in the search space, and a resource allocation strategy, which is used to balance the trade-off between genetic operator and local search operator, are both introduced into the framework of MOEA/D.A set of experiments are carried out to investigate the strength and weakness of our proposed algorithm on a series of benchmark test problems in comparison with the original MOEA/D.

Linear complementarity problems (LCPs) have for many years been used in physics-based animation to model contact forces between rigid bodies in contact. More recently, LCPs have found their way into the realm of fluid dynamics. Here, LCPs are used to model boundary conditions with fluid-wall contacts. LCPs have also started to appear in deformable models and granular simulations. There is an increasing need for numerical methods to solve the resulting LCPs with all these new applications. This book provides a numerical foundation for such methods, especially suited for use in computer graphics. This book is mainly intended for a researcher/Ph.D. student/post-doc/professor who wants to study the algorithms and do more work/research in this area. Programmers might have to invest some time brushing up on math skills, for this we refer to Appendices A and B. The reader should be familiar with linear algebra and differential calculus. We provide pseudo code for all the numerical methods, which should be comprehensible by any computer scientist with rudimentary programming skills. The reader can find an online supplementary code repository, containing Matlab implementations of many of the core methods covered in these notes, as well as a few Python implementations [Erleben, 2011].

We present a framework for reasoning with preferences in the context of Goal-Oriented Requirements Engineering (GORE). Our choice of preference language, conditional importance networks (CI-nets), is motivated by the occurrence in requirements engineering of qualitative preferences and tradeoffs involving sets of items; such preferences are expressed more naturally in CI-nets than in other representations. Building on our past experience with CI-nets, we are improving the scalability and usability of CI-nets for specifying and analyzing requirements preferences. We discuss our ongoing work and long-term plans, including efforts to develop more efficient methods to identify conflicting preferences among possible requirements, guide negotiation of resolutions to such conflicts, and improve traceability and comprehension of requirements preferences.

In this paper, we consider the continuation problem for the Helmholtz equation. The main result is a conditional stability estimate for a solution to the considered problem. The estimate shows that the closer solution to the surface is more stable. The results of the numerical experiments confirm this conclusion.

In autonomous robotic surgery, the supervision of the surgeon cannot be avoided due to the unforeseenable emergencies and complications that can take place during an operation. When necessary, the surgeon has to take over the surgical system switching it from an autonomous mode to a teleoperation mode. In this paper we propose a two-layer bilateral control architecture that ensures a safe behavior during the switch and high performance during the teleoperation. Experiments are proposed for validating the architecture proposed in the paper.

Knowledge management establishes connections among Information and Communication Technology (ICT), education, leadership, organizational behavior and strategy. The goal of this research is to investigate whether there is a significant difference between multiple intelligences and learning behavior of engineering students in the subject named Theory of Computation (TOC). This study intended to reveal how students differ in the ways they learn. Although, all the students are inclined to learn, however their way of learning is different from person to person as well in absorbing new information. Considering student's multiple intelligences this study was aimed at summarizing the ways in which ICT is used, and how it creates new learning opportunities. This study examines the impact of Multiple Intelligences on knowledge sharing and knowledge acquisition behavior.
This paper proposes an algorithm based on graph-based spectral theory and non-negative tensor factorization, called graph non-negative tensor factorization. By combining both advantages of non-negative tensor factoriz...

Positron Annihilation Lifetime Spectroscopy (PALS) allows examining structure of materials at nano and sub-nanometer level. This technique is based on the lifetime and production intensity of ortho-positronium atoms in free volumes of given structures. It is mostly used for studies of organic materials. However there exist also few results, e.g. by groups of Y. C. Jean and R. Pietrzak, showing that morphology of cells is correlated with the PALS parameters. Jagiellonian Positron Emission Tomograph (J-PET) is a multi-purpose detector which will be used for investigations with positronium atoms in life-sciences as well as for medical diagnostics. Such prototype based on plastic scintillators and fully compatible with MRI is currently being developed at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. In this talk results of the first experiments conducted by the J-PET collaboration will be presented. We performed PALS studies of well known structures such as silica and of some model micro-organisms, e.g. Saccharomyces cerevisiae both with dry and aqueous samples allowing to determine the correlation between hygroscopicity of the cell and PALS parameters. As a result, we proved that PALS can be successfully used for studies of living organisms their dynamics and its relation to the cells morphology. This result opens perspective for simultaneous determination of early and advanced stages of carcinogenesis by observing changes in biomechanical parameters between normal and tumour cells and standard PET examination. J-PET detection system combined with PALS technique will be more accurate and affordable for cancer diagnostics . Disclosure Authors disclose any relationship that may bias the presentation.
