The Information technology/Operational technology convergence towards Industry 4.0 opens the opportunity to leverage recent advancements in Information technology for Operational technology, such as Cloud, Internet of Things, and Artificial Intelligence. Meanwhile, cyber-attacks are increasing for Operational technology. The security aspect in Operational technology systems has traditionally been a low priority, in contrast with speed. This introduces challenges as Industrial Control Systems such as programmable Logic Controller in Operational technology have been traditionally optimized for speed rather than security due to limited computing power. As computations need to be as efficient as possible, security in Operational technology has yet to be managed as robustly as in Information technology. Operational technology communication protocols for securing data transfer, for example, have no or just a few security capabilities, even for basic authentication and encryption. Common security algorithms rely on random numbers. However, Random Number Generator is not usually part of standard functions in programmable Logic Controllers, the core control component in Industrial Control Systems. In Industrial Control Systems, the Random Number Generator is mostly implemented as a software-based Pseudo Random Number Generator. This paper shows how to apply a Pseudo Random Number Generator in a Siemens Compact PLC S7-1200 using a modified lightweight XORshift algorithm. The XORshift algorithm can generate better randomness than the system's clock-based implementation in the Siemens Library of Generic Functions. © 2023 IEEE.

Dependency Injection (DI) is a widely adopted design pattern in the software industry. DI reduces the otherwise necessary coupling between a client and the concrete object providing the service. This decoupling is achieved by delegating the responsibility of object creation to an external DI module, commonly referred to as a DI Container. Nevertheless, DI can introduce certain side effects. To guide the external DI module on the wiring logic, developers must either detail these logics in configuration files or use language constructs specific to the DI implementation in use. In large-scale projects, managing these wiring logics can pose a significant challenge to software maintainability. Currently, the Spring Framework stands as one of the most prominent DI implementations. It provides three methods for describing the wiring logic: XML, Annotation, and Java Class. This paper delves into the effects of these three methods on software maintainability, their influence on software design, and the optimal circumstances for each method’s use in managing wiring logic. Our study examines the issues aforementioned using the well-known web application benchmark, JPetStore. We adapt the benchmark application’s source code through different wiring logic implementations and evaluate the resultant effects on software coupling metrics. Finally, we explore the implications of these modifications on software coupling and maintainability.

The purpose of this research was to develop a power consumer service support system, a case study of the Provincial Electricity Authority, Chumphon Province. By applying the ITIL version 3 operating framework to be applied in conjunction with the geographic information system, the efficiency of the application of the geographic information system was assessed, the quality of the system was assessed by experts and the satisfaction of general users was assessed. This system was developed to increase the efficiency and accuracy of electricity consumer services. receive follow-up notifications request for service and service complaints Able to display statistical reports in geographic information formats resulting in standardized customer service management. Evaluation results of the efficiency of the system in finding and displaying the coordinates of service locations have an average overall efficiency of F-Measure of 92 percent and the quality assessment of experts at a good level with an average of 4.17 deviations. The standard was 0.51 and the satisfaction assessment results of general users were at a good level with an average of 4.35 and a standard deviation of 0.42 from both groups of assessors. It can be concluded that the developed system can be applied to real work efficiently and effectively © 2023 IEEE.

Topic shift detection aims to identify whether there is a change in the current topic of conversation or if a change is needed. The study found previous work did not evaluate the performance of large language models like ChatGPT on the task of topic shift. Therefore, this paper's main task and innovation lie in analyzing ChatGPT's performance on topic shift detection. To provide a more comprehensive evaluation, we conducted topic shift detection tasks on ChatGPT from three aspects: single utterances, adjacent utterances, and contextual levels. Additionally, to gauge the performance of large language models, we conducted experiments on multiple small-scale models and compared the results of the two models. Experimental results on the publicly available English TIAGE dataset showed that small-scale models exhibited lower recall in all three aspects, while ChatGPT performed better in the recall. This suggests that compared to small-scale models, large models are more capable of accurately detecting topic shifts. However, large models also exhibited lower precision, indicating that while ChatGPT can recognize content differences in utterances, its judgment on whether these different contents belong to the same topic is poor. © 2024 IEEE.

The swift progress of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has unveiled vast opportunities for interfacing and monitoring physical devices. Developers frequently encounter obstacles when conducting human-in-the-loop testing and connecting hardware devices for assessing IoT applications. This inconvenience hinders the development process and demands substantial time commitment for software quality maintenance, thereby diverting attention from core programming tasks. This research endeavors to design and implement an emulator named FirmataSpy based on Firmata, a widely-used serial-port communication protocol, for bridging application software and IoT devices. Serving as a Test Double for IoT devices, FirmataSpy facilitates developers in testing and validating IoT devices seamlessly. What sets FirmataSpy apart from other Test Double approaches is its language independence. It emulates the hardware and interacts with software at the protocol level, thereby broadening its adaptability.

In this research, the system that detects administrative behavior, credit card and developing corruption from credit cards through LINE applications. Applying Smart Glasses in Situated Exploration for Learning English in a National science Museum

Research on the use of augmented reality technology in museums is mostly limited to scientific knowledge. The use of wearable device technology learning materials to benefit students in the process of English learning has been somewhat explored, along with differences in students' learning styles and their influence on students' learning motivation, but there remains much to be done in this field. This study explored the learning effect of smart glasses integration into the English language dinosaur exhibition at the Museum of Natural science and investigated their impact on motivation. The experimental group used smart glasses learning strategy to facilitate their learning experience, whereas the control group used a tablet learning strategy. The research results show that: 1) Learning effectiveness and motivation were significantly superior when using smart glasses learning strategy, as compared to using a tablet learning strategy when learning through the English language situated exploration game. 2) The interaction between different learning strategies and learning styles had a significant impact on learning effectiveness. In the smart glasses learning strategy group and the tablet learning strategy group, the learning effectiveness of the kinesthetic students was significantly higher than those of the auditory students. The learning effectiveness of the visual students using the tablet learning strategy was higher than auditory students. 3) The interaction between different learning strategies and learning styles had no significant effect on learning motivation. In terms of learning motivation, visual students were more affected than auditory and kinesthetic students. © 2008-2011 IEEE.

This research aimed to design, produce, and assess a snoring detection neck pillow for elderly individuals with snoring symptoms. The research process began with finding information on snoring. The data obtained were used to design a snore detection neck pillow in the form of a U-shaped neck pillow. The functional principle was that when the microphone module detects the snoring sound, it activates a vibrating motor to alert the snorer to awake or change sleeping positions and stop snoring. There was a program to control the operation. The results of the snoring detection neck pillow test with a sample size of 20 people showed an average efficiency of 80%. © 2023 IEEE.
