In this paper, we propose a method for visualizing object information under low light conditions using photon-counting integral imaging and depth images as prior information. To visualize 3D objects under low-light conditions, computational photon-counting imaging may be used. It is possible to estimate photons using statistical methods such as the Poisson distribution. Therefore, photon-counting integral imaging can visualize 3D images under low-light conditions by maximum likelihood estimation (MLE). However, MLE does not consider prior information so it may not be an accurate estimation. In addition, it is difficult to obtain accurate depth information as the distance increases due to rounding errors caused by computational reconstruction. Therefore, we propose Bayesian estimation such as a maximum a posteriori estimation method that uses as a priori information images from a depth camera, which can be acquired even in low-light conditions, to improve the quality of 3D images. To evaluate image quality of the proposed method, optical experiments were conducted by calculating image quality metrics. This technology can be utilized for night vision applications, such as object recognition in security camera systems and autonomous driving, using RGB cameras and depth cameras. © 2023 ICROS.

Artificial intelligence and blockchain are quickly integrating in daily life and business applications. When numerous information systems must access and analyze data in real-time in centralized systems and applications, such as healthcare, a bottleneck develops. This issue would be resolved by blockchain's decentralized database architecture, safe data storage, data exchange, and authentication. Additionally, AI can be present at the very top of the blockchain and produce insights from the shared data that is created and applied to forecasts. Blockchain is a cutting-edge Cybersecurity technology that creates chains by mutual consent between nodes that chronologically link new blocks to those previously stored in nodes. A number of industries, including banking, insurance, cybersecurity, forecasting, healthcare, and cryptocurrencies, among others, are growing more quickly as a result of technology convergence. The likelihood of these systems being hacked increases as more digital technologies are used and these businesses provide services. Blockchain technology and artificial intelligence can work together to create a strong defense against these dangers and security problems. We'll examine how blockchain and AI are merged in cybersecurity in this chapter. We'll go into more detail about how they help secure cyber-physical systems. © 2023 IEEE.

Terahertz (THz) (0.1-10 THz) wireless communication is one of the cornerstones of the next 6G wireless networks. THz frequencies have the ability to dramatically increase wireless capacity performance and enable high-resolution environment sensing if applied properly due to the enormous quantity of accessible bandwidth. However, the usage of wireless devices in high-frequency bands like THz is constrained by a very unpredictable and dynamic channel. The ultimate result is essentially unreliable intermittent connections since these channel constraints have a naturally restricted communication range and a high susceptibility to blocking and chemical absorption. Because of this, the THz band's potential for high-rate communications and high-resolution sensing may be hindered. This study thoroughly examines the steps necessary to build up and operate next-generation THz wireless networks that will work together to deliver a variety of communication and sensing services in this environment. We first lay the groundwork for this by defining the THz frequency range's fundamentals. Using these fundamentals as a foundation, we outline and carefully investigate seven specific qualities that characterize THz wireless systems: Some of the subjects discussed include the quasi-opticality of the band, wireless architectures suited for THz, synergy with lower frequency bands, cooperative sensing and communication systems, PHY-layer protocols, spectrum access techniques, and real-time network optimization. These seven distinctive features enable our understanding of how to re-engineer wireless systems as we know them today to fit THz bands and their specific settings. On the one hand, THz systems make use of its quasi-optimality and may turn any sensing opportunity into a communication problem, aiding in the development of a new breed of flexible wireless systems that can do many jobs beyond straightforward communications. Noise removal in scattering media environments such as fog and smoke are an important task in reality. For example, it can be applied in many fields such as searching under turbid water and rescuing in smoke. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to remove the noise under the scattering medium environment and to visualize the object. As a conventional method for removing noise, there is a technique called peplography. Peplograhy enables the denoising of dense fog and reconstructing the image in scattering media environments. However, peplography has a problem that complex noise exists after removing particularly deep noise, and as a result, it becomes difficult to visualize the object. This research aims to solve this problem. We propose a new denoising technology that combines peplography with DCLGAN. DCLGAN is an image transformation algorithm using deep learning and an improved model of CycleGAN which is also used in the field of noise reduction. In this study, we evaluate the conventional method and the proposed method for scattering media images. As the evaluation method, visual evaluation and numerical evaluation using the PSNR index are performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. We believe that the proposed method can be applied in various fields such as object visualization under turbid water and automatic driving technology with fog removed. © 2023 ICROS.

Autonomous offroad driving is essential for applications like emergency rescue, military operations, and agriculture. Despite progress, systems struggle with high-speed vehicles exceeding 10m/s due to the need for accurate long-range (> 50m) perception for safe navigation. Current approaches are limited by sensor constraints; LiDAR-based methods offer precise short-range data but are noisy beyond 30m, while visual models provide dense long-range measurements but falter with unseen scenarios. To overcome these issues, we introduce ALTER, a learning-on-the-drive perception framework that leverages both sensor types. ALTER uses a self-supervised visual model to learn and adapt from near-range LiDAR measurements, improving long-range prediction in new environments without manual labeling. It also includes a model selection module for better sensor failure response and adaptability to known environments. Testing in two real-world settings showed on average 43.4% better traversability prediction than LiDAR-only and 164% over non-adaptive state-of-the-art (SOTA) visual semantic methods after 45 seconds of online learning.

Strongly Connected Components (SCCs) play a crucial role in understanding the structural properties of directed graphs, with a plethora of applications across various domains including engineering, computer science and social sciences. In this paper, we propose a method for computing both the source SCCs and target SCCs in a distributed fashion. Our method leverages the decentralized nature of distributed systems to efficiently identify SCCs within large-scale graphs. Stroke is one of the instantaneously shocking and spiking cerebrovascular diseases having substantial residual effects. Image analysis techniques have the ability to diagnosing and providing proper treatment for stroke patients. To lighten the problem, various techniques of image analysis have been proposed. Thus, this survey intended to analyze these proposed image analysis approaches intending to thoroughly examine the state-of-the-art image analysis techniques. To prepare this survey, the systematic literature review method was employed. Based on the reviewed literature, several clinical and biological image datasets are found to be used in the process of stroke diagnosis. However, there are very few publicly accessible datasets are available currently. In this survey, each image analysis technique used for stroke image analysis processes is briefly discussed. Inspired by the dynamic coupling of moto-neurons and physical elasticity in animals, this work explores the possibility of generating locomotion gaits by utilizing physical oscillations in a soft snake by means of a low-level spiking neural mechanism. To achieve this goal, we introduce the Double Threshold Spiking neuron model with adjustable thresholds to generate varied output patterns. This neuron model can excite the natural dynamics of soft robotic snakes, and it enables distinct movements, such as turning or moving forward, by simply altering the neural thresholds. Finally, we demonstrate that our approach, termed SpikingSoft, naturally pairs and integrates with reinforcement learning. The high-level agent only needs to adjust the two thresholds to generate complex movement patterns, thus strongly simplifying the learning of reactive locomotion. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed architecture significantly enhances the performance of the soft snake robot, enabling it to achieve target objectives with a 21.6% increase in success rate, a 29% reduction in time to reach the target, and smoother movements compared to the vanilla reinforcement learning controllers or Central Pattern Generator controller acting in torque space.

Cancer is a severe affection nowadays, leading to death in many situations. Among the liver tumors, the most often met is Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC), being present for 75% of the primary liver cancer patients. Despite its' invasive character, the most reliable cancer diagnosis method is biopsy. For performing both non-invasive and accurate disease assessment, computerized techniques are required. Tumor semantic segmentation is useful in this context, achieving tumor detection, localization, and extension estimation at the same time. In our current research, we developed and comparatively assessed high performance methods for segmenting liver tumor, based on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), as UNet, UNet++ and DeepLabV3+, involving two CT image datasets in our experiments. The assessment was performed by considering both the polar and cartesian image representations. At the end, a maximum DICE value of 80.92%, a maximum IoU value of 69.55%, respectively a maximum accuracy value of 99.82% resulted. © 2023 IEEE.
