Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and self-attention (SA) have demonstrated remarkable success in low-level vision tasks, such as image super-resolution, deraining, and dehazing. The former excels in acquiring local connections with translation equivariance, while the latter is better at capturing long-range dependencies. However, both CNNs and Transformers suffer from individual limitations, such as limited receptive field and weak diversity representation of CNNs during low efficiency and weak local relation learning of SA. To this end, we propose a multi-scale fusion and decomposition network (MFDNet) for rain perturbation removal, which unifies the merits of these two architectures while maintaining both effectiveness and efficiency. To achieve the decomposition and association of rain and rain-free features, we introduce an asymmetrical scheme designed as a dual-path mutual representation network that enables iterative refinement. Additionally, we incorporate high-efficiency convolutions throughout the network and use resolution rescaling to balance computational complexity with performance. Comprehensive evaluations show that the proposed approach outperforms most of the latest SOTA deraining methods and is versatile and robust in various image restoration tasks, including underwater image enhancement, image dehazing, and low-light image enhancement. Context-aware fire detection is a significant task in the era of new urban monitoring. Severe damage might result from fire events. To minimize the occurrence of these events, timely detection of fire accidents is necessary. Various machine-learning and deep learning methods are used for fire detection. Most of them do not focus on the extent of the fire or the damage it causes. All these methods need the detection of the criticality of the fire event. This work proposes an identification system based on Large Vision Models (LVMs) for fire detection. We proposed an intelligent criticality-aware fire detection system that can detect fire and its varying scales from small to large and generate alarming alerts accordingly. The model integrates advanced computer vision techniques with LVMs to explain the hidden context in a textual format. The system is tested on real-time data collected from surveillance cameras and achieves an accuracy of 86.67% in correctly identifying the context-based criticality of the fire events depicted in the input data. This proposed framework can revolutionize surveillance applications by enhancing security and responding to crucial fire incidents in real-time. The system provides an efficient method for allocating resources and facilitates rapid response to incidents to prioritize activities intelligently. Using this approach, we identified and prioritized fire incidents in the urban environment. © 2024 IEEE.

CPDZ: A Credibility-Aware and Privacy-Preserving Data Collection Scheme with Zero-Trust in Next-Generation Crowdsensing Networks

Next-Generation Crowdsensing Networks (NGCNs) have become increasingly critical for smart cities, where data privacy and quality are pivotal concerns. Traditional trust mechanisms in crowdsensing mainly rely on static trust models, which are insufficient for dynamic security requirements. Zero-Trust security represents a promising opportunity, yet coming with notable challenges in NGCNs, including Unknown Workers Online Recruitment (UWOR), Information Elicitation Without Verification (IEWV), Privacy Preserving Data Evaluation (PPDE), and Dynamic Trust Abrupt Shift (DTAS). To address these challenges, we propose a Credibility-aware and Privacy-preserving Data collection scheme with Zero-trust (CPDZ) for secure and quality data collection in NGCNs. First, our CPDZ scheme encompasses a quality worker recruitment strategy with combinatorial multi-armed bandit models, utilizing Thompson Sampling for the secure and efficient resolution of the UWOR. Second, an active dispatching scheme for unmanned aerial vehicles is crafted to collect data as a gold standard to assist in overcoming the IEWV challenge. Third, as for the PPDE challenge, we propose a lightweight privacy-preserving scheme for dependable truth discovery and secure trust verification. Fourth, the DTAS challenge is managed by a dual verification scheme that integrates short-term and long-term trust assessments, ensuring stability and adaptability of the zero-trust security in our CPDZ scheme. Experiments confirm the superiority of our CPDZ scheme, showing a 12.5% increase in recruitment revenue and a 57.8% reduction in relative error compared to existing approaches. © 1983-2012 IEEE.

As the importance of sustainable practices in the automobile sector grows, it's critical to anticipate motorcycle prices and offerings. With so many variables to consider when buying a secondhand motorcycle-condition, mileage, brand reputation, model characteristics, etc.-accurate pricing prediction is essential for both customers looking for good values and sellers hoping to maximize profits. This study investigates the effectiveness of four machine learning techniques Decision Tree models, Support Vector Regression (SVR), K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), and Stochastic Gradient Descent (SGD) Regressions-in predicting motorcycle prices using a dataset obtained from motorcycle merchants. It's noteworthy that these methods are used with a hybrid architecture to improve prediction accuracy. Different approaches are compared and contrasted to find the best fit for the given dataset, and the difficulties and roadblocks that come with them are also discussed. After extensive testing, the decision tree model's effectiveness is shown with an amazing 97% accuracy rate, providing accurate price estimates that are essential for encouraging sustainable habits in the ever-changing Internet of Things environment. With an impressive accuracy rate, this methodology provides precise pricing estimations, which are critical for supporting sustainable practices in the automotive industry. © 2024 IEEE.

Illegible handwriting on medical prescriptions poses a significant challenge, often leading to the misinterpretation of drug names and dosages. This issue primarily stems from doctors' use of Latin abbreviations, driven by time constraints during patient consultations. The resultant discrepancies in prescription interpretation can potentially expose patients to incorrect medications and dosages, leading to adverse effects. In response to this concern, this study proposes a novel system integrating Convolution Neural Network (CNN) and Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) models. Promising findings are reported in this study, achieving a loss of 0.4874 and an accuracy of 0.83 in the latest trial. The final model offers a potential solution to the persistent problem of illegible prescriptions, enhancing patient safety in the healthcare domain. © 2024 IEEE.

Representation learning on spatial networks is emerging as a distinct area in machine learning and is attracting much attention in diverse domains. Some applications include molecular graphs for drug discovery and screening, brain networks for neuroscience, social networks for recommender systems, etc. However, most proposed approaches either use only spatial or network data that cannot distinguish certain types of graphs and limit their network expressivity or are tied to specific input data domains and network architectures. To address this gap, we introduce an equivariant message-passing network architecture that simultaneously leverages the spatial and network properties. In addition, we propose to take advantage of the geometric representations and extend the classical scalar features with 3D vectors. To exploit the spatial and network features, we present a Spatial Vector Neuron, which can be easily incorporated into the existing graph neural network architectures and allow the model to scale up by stacking more layers for larger receptive fields. A comprehensive set of experiments on both synthetic and real-world datasets demonstrate the strength of our proposed method and the potential of geometric representation learning for Spatial Networks. © 2024 IEEE.
