Ambiguity is an inherent feature of language, whose management is crucial for effective communication and collaboration. This is particularly true for Chinese, a language with extensive lexical-morphemic ambiguity. Despite the wide use of large language models (LLMs) in numerous domains and their growing proficiency in Chinese, there is a notable lack of datasets to thoroughly evaluate LLMs' ability to handle ambiguity in Chinese. To bridge this gap, we introduce the CHAmbi dataset, a specialized Chinese multi-label disambiguation dataset formatted in Natural Language Inference. It comprises 4,991 pairs of premises and hypotheses, including 824 examples featuring a wide range of ambiguities. In addition to the dataset, we develop a series of tests and conduct an extensive evaluation of pre-trained LLMs' proficiency in identifying and resolving ambiguity in the Chinese language. Our findings reveal that GPT-4 consistently delivers commendable performance across various evaluative measures, albeit with limitations in robustness. The performances of other LLMs, however, demonstrate variability in handling ambiguity-related tasks, underscoring the complexity of such tasks in the context of Chinese. The overall results highlight the challenge of ambiguity handling for current LLMs and underscore the imperative need for further enhancement in LLM capabilities for effective ambiguity resolution in the Chinese language. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Log-structured merge-tree (LSM-tree) is a storage architecture widely used in key-value (KV) stores. To enhance the read efficiency of LSM-tree, recent works utilize the learned index to learn the mapping between keys and locations. However, in existing learned-index-aided KV stores, inefficient design of the learned index and disk access significantly impact the read performance. How to design a learned KV store to improve index efficiency and minimize disk access remains a critical problem. This paper presents LeaderKV, a read-optimized LSM-tree-based KV store. LeaderKV employs decoupled KV tables (DK-Table) and efficient learned indexes for data retrieval. DKTables are storage files in Leader Kvbecause they avoid reading irrelevant data in collaboration with learned indexes during queries. A learned index called Leader is proposed to accelerate data retrieval within DKTable. Leader is composed of precise models and approximate models. A redirect mechanism is designed to reduce the cost of mispredictions in Leader. We integrate DKTable and Leader into LeaderKV and demonstrate its effectiveness using a variety of datasets and workloads. Experimental results show that LeaderKV significantly improves the read performance compared to representative schemes. © 2024 IEEE.

Time-series data provide important information in many fields,and their processing and analysis have been the focus of much ***,detecting anomalies is very difficult due to data imbalance,temporal dependence,and ***,methodologies for data augmentation and conversion of time series data into images for analysis have been *** paper proposes a fault detection model that uses time series data augmentation and transformation to address the problems of data imbalance,temporal dependence,and robustness to *** method of data augmentation is set as the addition of *** involves adding Gaussian noise,with the noise level set to 0.002,to maximize the generalization performance of the *** addition,we use the Markov Transition Field(MTF)method to effectively visualize the dynamic transitions of the data while converting the time series data into *** enables the identification of patterns in time series data and assists in capturing the sequential dependencies of the *** anomaly detection,the PatchCore model is applied to show excellent performance,and the detected anomaly areas are represented as heat *** allows for the detection of anomalies,and by applying an anomaly map to the original image,it is possible to capture the areas where anomalies *** performance evaluation shows that both F1-score and Accuracy are high when time series data is converted to ***,when processed as images rather than as time series data,there was a significant reduction in both the size of the data and the training *** proposed method can provide an important springboard for research in the field of anomaly detection using time series ***,it helps solve problems such as analyzing complex patterns in data lightweight.

Knowledge of medication and disease has been rapidly accumulated. Also, an increasing number of researchers have paid more attention to predicting medicine-disease associations by machine learning methods. The associations of entities in the medical heterogeneous information network involve different association types. In this paper, we propose MHIN-MD, a representation learning of medical heterogeneous network model to solve the association between medicines and diseases in medical heterogeneous information network. Specifically, we first construct a medical heterogeneous information network contains diseases, medicines, diagnosis, etc. Next, we design a neural network model to learn the feature vector representation of medical nodes information. We try to find the association between medicines and diseases through the characteristics of medicines structure and the interaction between medicines. Using the Euclidean distance to calculate medicine similarity and disease similarity, generates a set of similar nodes between medicines and diseases to prediction association between medicines and diseases. Finally, our extensive experiments on MIMIC- III datasets and DrugBank datasets, the result demonstrates that MHIN-MD can outperform baselines in the association prediction. © 2022. Intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) is a life-threatening condition that requires rapid and accurate diagnosis to improve treatment outcomes and patient survival rates. Recent advancements in supervised deep learning have greatly improved the analysis of medical images, but often rely on extensive datasets with high-quality annotations, which are costly, time-consuming, and require medical expertise to prepare. To mitigate the need for large amounts of expert-prepared segmentation data, we have developed a novel weakly supervised ICH segmentation method that utilizes the YOLO object detection model and an uncertainty-rectified Segment Anything Model (SAM). In addition, we have proposed a novel point prompt generator for this model to further improve segmentation results with YOLO-predicted bounding box prompts. Our approach achieved a high accuracy of 0.933 and an AUC of 0.796 in ICH detection, along with a mean Dice score of 0.629 for ICH segmentation, outperforming existing weakly supervised and popular supervised (UNet and Swin-UNETR) approaches. Overall, the proposed method provides a robust and accurate alternative to the more commonly used supervised techniques for ICH quantification without requiring refined segmentation ground truths during model training. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

As the most common data structure for key-value stores, LogStructured Merge Tree (LSM-tree) can eliminate random write operations and keep acceptable read performance. However, write stall and write amplification introduced by the leveled compaction of LSM-tree significantly degrade the system performance. The emerging non-volatile memory (NVM) provides byte-addressable access and low-latency data persistence. Integrating DIMM-interface NVM in the design of the LSM-tree can potentially alleviate the write stall and write amplification issue, as the access speed of NVM is several orders of magnitude faster than hard disk drives or flash memory-based solid-state drives. This hybrid storage should be carefully designed, requiring new architectural and key-value structural support. This paper presents ZigZagDB, an NVM-enabled data man-agement scheme for LSM-tree-based key-value stores. ZigZagDB adds additional layers of key-value stores and uses non-volatile memory as the storage media to hold these additional layers of data. The newly designed key-value stores alternately access the data from either SSD or NVM. This 'ZigZag' shape of storage collaboration and synchronization can benefit write efficiency and space utilization. By utilizing the NVM with very limited capacity, the redesigned organization of LSM-tree can effectively solve the write stall and write amplification issue. We demonstrate the viability of the proposed ZigZagDB using a set of extensive experiments. Experimental results show that ZigZagDB can significantly reduce the write amplification and boost the throughput in comparison with representative schemes. © 2024 IEEE.

Hand gesture recognition (HGR) is used in a numerous applications,including medical health-care, industrial purpose and sports *** have developed a real-time hand gesture recognition system using inertialsensors for the smart home application. Developing such a model facilitatesthe medical health field (elders or disabled ones). Home automation has alsobeen proven to be a tremendous benefit for the elderly and disabled. Residentsare admitted to smart homes for comfort, luxury, improved quality of life,and protection against intrusion and burglars. This paper proposes a novelsystem that uses principal component analysis, linear discrimination analysisfeature extraction, and random forest as a classifier to *** have achieved an accuracy of 94% over the publicly benchmarked HGRdataset. The proposed system can be used to detect hand gestures in thehealthcare industry as well as in the industrial and educational sectors.

Nowadays, social media applications and websites have become a crucial part of people’s lives;for sharing their moments, contacting their families and friends, or even for their jobs. However, the fact that these valuable data are transferred via the Internet and open channels, which are vulnerable to attacks and espionage, requires using defense methods to improve the security of data transmission. Recently, the progress of Deep Learning (DL) inspired researchers to use it with security methods such as steganography, the art of hiding secret data in unrelated content. DL and steganography combined enhanced the hiding properties, especially in the Coverless Image Steganography (CIS) methods. In this paper, we propose a Compressive Coverless Image Steganography (CCIS) model, which is a generated-based CIS, to improve the capacity and robustness of Steganography. This model uses the compressive autoencoder to compress the message, thus increasing the capacity, and uses the Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) to generate a stego image from the compressed vector, thus enhancing concealment ability, besides using a regression model and optimization method to extract the data. Another version was designed to enable sending binary messages by replacing the compressive autoencoder network with a robust mapping rule. Experiments show that the proposed model could improve the characteristics of Steganography. Furthermore, the proposed model could extract binary messages with 256 bits from attacked stego images with 99% recovery accuracy. Thus, capacity and robustness were enhanced using our model with both images and text as secret messages. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

ChatGPT can improve software engineering (SE) research practices by offering efficient, accessible information analysis, and synthesis based on natural language interactions. However, ChatGPT could bring ethical challenges, encompassing plagiarism, privacy, data security, and the risk of generating biased or potentially detrimental data. This research aims to fill the given gap by elaborating on the key elements: motivators, demotivators, and ethical principles of using ChatGPT in SE research. To achieve this objective, we conducted a literature survey, identified the mentioned elements, and presented their relationships by developing a taxonomy. Furthermore, the identified literature-based elements (motivators, demotivators, and ethical principles) were empirically evaluated by conducting a comprehensive questionnaire-based survey involving SE researchers. In addition, we employed an interpretive structure modeling approach to analyze the relationships between the ethical principles of using ChatGPT in SE research and develop a level-based decision model. We further conducted a cross-impact matrix multiplication applied to classification analysis to create a cluster-based decision model. These models aim to help SE researchers devise effective strategies for ethically integrating ChatGPT into SE research by following the identified principles by adopting the motivators and addressing the demotivators. The findings of this study will establish a benchmark for incorporating ChatGPT services in SE research with an emphasis on ethical considerations. © 2020 IEEE.

Hilbert's Nullstellensatz is a fundamental result in algebraic geometry that gives a necessary and sufficient condition for a finite collection of multivariate polynomials to have a common zero in an algebraically closed field. Associated with this result, there is the computational problem HN of determining whether a system of polynomials with coefficients in the field of rational numbers has a common zero over the field of algebraic numbers. In an influential paper, Koiran showed that HN can be determined in the polynomial hierarchy assuming the Generalised Riemann Hypothesis (GRH). More precisely, he showed that HN lies in the complexity class AM under GRH. In a later work he generalised this result by showing that the problem DIM, which asks to determine the dimension of the set of solutions of a given polynomial system, also lies in AM subject to GRH. In this paper we study the solvability of polynomial equations over arbitrary algebraically closed fields of characteristic zero. Up to isomorphism, every such field is the algebraic closure of a field of rational functions. We thus formulate a parametric version of HN, called HNP, in which the input is a system of polynomials with coefficients in a function field Q(x) and the task is to determine whether the polynomials have a common zero in the algebraic closure Q(x). We observe that Koiran's proof that DIM lies in AM can be interpreted as a randomised polynomial-time reduction of DIM to HNP, followed by an argument that HNP lies in AM. Our main contribution is a self-contained proof that HNP lies in AM that follows the same basic idea as Koiran's argument - namely random instantiation of the parameters - but whose justification is purely algebraic, relying on a parametric version of Hilbert's Nullstellensatz, and avoiding recourse to semi-algebraic geometry.
