COVID-19 pandemic restrictions limited all social activities to curtail the spread of the *** foremost and most prime sector among those affected were schools,colleges,and *** education system of entire nations had shifted to online education during this *** shortcomings of Learning Management systems(LMSs)were detected to support education in an online mode that spawned the research in Artificial Intelligence(AI)based tools that are being developed by the research community to improve the effectiveness of *** paper presents a detailed survey of the different enhancements to LMSs,which are led by key advances in the area of AI to enhance the real-time and non-real-time user *** AI-based enhancements proposed to the LMSs start from the Application layer and Presentation layer in the form of flipped classroom models for the efficient learning environment and appropriately designed UI/UX for efficient utilization of LMS utilities and resources,including AI-based *** layer enhancements are also required,such as AI-based online proctoring and user authentication using *** extend to the Transport layer to support real-time and rate adaptive encrypted video transmission for user security/privacy and satisfactory working of *** also needs the support of the Networking layer for IP-based geolocation features,the Virtual Private Network(VPN)feature,and the support of Software-Defined Networks(SDN)for optimum Quality of Service(QoS).Finally,in addition to these,non-real-time user experience is enhanced by other AI-based enhancements such as Plagiarism detection algorithms and Data Analytics.

In this digital era, users frequently share their thoughts, preferences, and ideas through social media, which reflect their Basic Human Values. Basic Human Values (aka values) are the fundamental aspects of human behavior, which define what we consider important, and worth having and pursue them. Existing studies identify the values of individuals from different social network usages such as Facebook and Reddit. However, discovering the similarity (or diversity) of value priorities among the members in a group is important since we can reveal many interesting insights such as finding a set of target customers, identifying the chain of misdeed groups, searching for similar acquaintances in workplaces, etc. In this paper, a graph dataset is compiled using the strongest correlation among the features and then we apply a graph clustering technique to identify a suitable hedonist group (i.e., one dimension of values) for users’ recommendations. Then, we also propose a behavior based (i.e., value) group recommendation technique by analyzing users’ contextual and psychological attributes. Finally, we validate those group members in real life by introducing two hypotheses. In particular, we analyze the tweets of a total of 1140 users collected from Twitter. We obtain a substantial intra-cluster correlation coefficient (ICC) and silhouette clustering coefficient (SCC) scores of 65% and 76%, respectively, among the members in our discovered group. © The Author(s) 2024.

Static Analysis Techniques for Fixing Software Defects in MPI-Based Parallel Programs

The Message Passing Interface (MPI) is a widely accepted standard for parallel computing on distributed ***, MPI implementations can contain defects that impact the reliability and performance of parallelapplications. Detecting and correcting these defects is crucial, yet there is a lack of published models specificallydesigned for correctingMPI defects. To address this, we propose a model for detecting and correcting MPI defects(DC_MPI), which aims to detect and correct defects in various types of MPI communication, including blockingpoint-to-point (BPTP), nonblocking point-to-point (NBPTP), and collective communication (CC). The defectsaddressed by the DC_MPI model include illegal MPI calls, deadlocks (DL), race conditions (RC), and messagemismatches (MM). To assess the effectiveness of the DC_MPI model, we performed experiments on a datasetconsisting of 40 MPI codes. The results indicate that the model achieved a detection rate of 37 out of 40 codes,resulting in an overall detection accuracy of 92.5%. Additionally, the execution duration of the DC_MPI modelranged from 0.81 to 1.36 s. These findings show that the DC_MPI model is useful in detecting and correctingdefects in MPI implementations, thereby enhancing the reliability and performance of parallel applications. TheDC_MPImodel fills an important research gap and provides a valuable tool for improving the quality ofMPI-basedparallel computing systems.

The network switches in the data plane of Software Defined Networking (SDN) are empowered by an elementary process, in which enormous number of packets which resemble big volumes of data are classified into specific flows by matching them against a set of dynamic rules. This basic process accelerates the processing of data, so that instead of processing singular packets repeatedly, corresponding actions are performed on corresponding flows of packets. In this paper, first, we address limitations on a typical packet classification algorithm like Tuple Space Search (TSS). Then, we present a set of different scenarios to parallelize it on different parallel processing platforms, including Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), clusters of Central Processing Units (CPUs), and hybrid clusters. Experimental results show that the hybrid cluster provides the best platform for parallelizing packet classification algorithms, which promises the average throughput rate of 4.2 Million packets per second (Mpps). That is, the hybrid cluster produced by the integration of Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA), Message Passing Interface (MPI), and OpenMP programming model could classify 0.24 million packets per second more than the GPU cluster scheme. Such a packet classifier satisfies the required processing speed in the programmable network systems that would be used to communicate big medical data.

Variant Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Network Applied on Low Dose CT Image Denoising

Computed Tomography(CT)images have been extensively employed in disease diagnosis and treatment,causing a huge concern over the dose of radiation to which patients are *** the radiation dose to get a better image may lead to the development of genetic disorders and cancer in the patients;on the other hand,decreasing it by using a Low-Dose CT(LDCT)image may cause more noise and increased artifacts,which can compromise the ***,image reconstruction from LDCT image data is necessary to improve radiologists’judgment and *** study proposed three novel models for denoising LDCT images based on Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Network(WGAN).They were incorporated with different loss functions,including Visual Geometry Group(VGG),Structural Similarity Loss(SSIM),and Structurally Sensitive Loss(SSL),to reduce noise and preserve important information on LDCT images and investigate the effect of different types of loss ***,experiments have been conducted on the Graphical Processing Unit(GPU)and Central Processing Unit(CPU)to compare the performance of the proposed *** results demonstrated that images from the proposed WGAN-SSIM,WGAN-VGG-SSIM,and WGAN-VGG-SSL were denoised better than those from state-of-the-art models(WGAN,WGAN-VGG,and SMGAN)and converged to a stable equilibrium compared with WGAN and *** proposed models are effective in reducing noise,suppressing artifacts,and maintaining informative structure and texture details,especially WGAN-VGG-SSL which achieved a high peak-signalto-noise ratio(PNSR)on both GPU(26.1336)and CPU(25.8270).The average accuracy of WGAN-VGG-SSL outperformed that of the state-ofthe-art methods by 1 *** prove that theWGAN-VGG-SSL is more stable than the other models on both GPU and CPU.

Non-Destructive Detection of Fillet Fish Quality Using MQ135 Gas Sensor and Neutrosophic Logic-Enhanced system

This paper demonstrates the feasibility of using an electronic nose to assess fish quality by analyzing air quality and examining volatile organic compounds (VOCs) alongside physical variables, with pH, protein content, and VOCs serving as chemical reference points. Artificial intelligence algorithms were employed to predict quality and calculate regression coefficients. Using the reference neural network algorithm based on chemical and physical compounds, regression coefficients (R values) achieved were 0.99, 0.98, and 0.97, respectively. Additionally, ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference system) produced R values of 0.99, 0.85, and 0.98. Both fuzzy logic and ANFIS proved effective for predicting fish quality. Image processing techniques, including histogram analysis, color mapping, and edge detection, were also applied to assess fish quality. To enhance the inference process, Neutrosophic Logic-Enhanced Fuzzy Logic systems were utilized, addressing uncertainty and imprecision in fish quality assessment. Neutrosophic logic combines fuzzy logic's partial truth with indeterminacy, represented by three membership functions: truth, indeterminacy, and falsity. Neutrosophic fuzzy inference integrates steps like neutrosophication, rule evaluation, aggregation, and defuzzification, ensuring improved expressiveness and fidelity. For instance, neutrosophic fuzzy rules evaluated fish freshness and appearance to determine quality ratings such as poor, good, or excellent. This integration enhances decision-making by accurately modeling complex real-world uncertainties. These methods, combining electronic nose technology, artificial intelligence, and neutrosophic inference, provide a robust, non-destructive, and cost-effective approach to detecting spoilage in fillet fish. © 2025, University of New Mexico. The agriculture industry is currently dealing with serious issues with rice plants as a result of illnesses that decrease the quantity and output of the harvest. Numerous fungi and bacteria diseases harm plants that affect the growth of yield. So identification of the detection of crop diseases is essential for enhancing the productivity of crops. Many techniques have been developed to improve disease detection in crops but there are still some issues such as noise, time consumption, delay, poor segmentation, and less accuracy. To overcome these issues, this paper, designed a Spider Monkey-based Random Forest (SMbRF) model for accurate detection and classification of rice leaf diseases and the designed model was implemented in the Python system. The main aim is to develop an optimization-based random forest technique for accurate prediction of rice leaf disease by exact segmentation. Initially, preprocessing is performed to enhance the data quality and remove errors. Furthermore, separate the lesions using mean shift image segmentation and extract the shape and color features to improve the detection results of the developed model. As well, spider monkey fitness is updated in the RF classification layer for accurate classification of diseases and improves accuracy with less execution time. The experiment results show the reliability and efficiency of the designed model, it attains better performance in accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and precision. The designed model attained 99.29% accuracy, 99.52% sensitivity, 98.76% precision, and 99% specificity proving the scalability of the designed model. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Tomatoes are essential fruits in numerous nations for their vast demand. It is very important to maintain the freshness of tomatoes. One of the primary challenges in the recent culinary landscape is accurately identifying healthy tomatoes while effectively eliminating damaged or rejected ones. Existing approaches employ various strategies for categorizing tomato fruit, but they often suffer from inaccuracies, slow detection, and suboptimal performance. Thus, motivated by this gap, in this paper, we propose a novel machine learning (ML) framework, ViT-SENet-Tom, which is a hybrid vision transformer (ViT) model with squeeze and excitation (SENet) block network for fast, accurate, and efficient tomato fruit classification. The framework works on three tomato classes, respectively, the ripe, unripe, and reject. In developing the proposed model, we utilized advanced and newly designed layers and functions. This integration created a more complex and sophisticated neural network, significantly enhancing efficiency and contributing to the model’s novelty. Our chosen dataset was small initially, but we implemented augmentation techniques to increase its size. This approach made our system more reliable, efficient, and effective. The hybrid ViT-SENet framework employs encoders and self-attention networks with squeeze and excitation channel functions to allow precise, robust, fast, and efficient tomato classification. In simulation, the framework achieves a training accuracy of 99.87% and validation accuracy of 93.87%, indicating the precise classification of tomatoes. Besides, this work tests accuracy using fivefold cross-validation. The highest accuracy seen at fold-5 is 99.90%. These testing results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed framework in real-deployment scenarios. The implementation has the potential to provide enhanced and more sustainable food security and safety in future. © The Author(s) 2025.

Addressing Imbalance in Health Datasets: A New Method NR-Clustering SMOTE and Distance Metric Modification

An imbalanced dataset often challenges machine learning, particularly classification methods. Underrepresented minority classes can result in biased and inaccurate models. The Synthetic Minority Over-Sampling Technique (SMOTE) was developed to address the problem of imbalanced data. Over time, several weaknesses of the SMOTE method have been identified in generating synthetic minority class data, such as overlapping, noise, and small disjuncts. However, these studies generally focus on only one of SMOTE’s weaknesses: noise or overlapping. Therefore, this study addresses both issues simultaneously by tackling noise and overlapping in SMOTE-generated data. This study proposes a combined approach of filtering, clustering, and distance modification to reduce noise and overlapping produced by SMOTE. Filtering removes minority class data (noise) located in majority class regions, with the k-nn method applied for filtering. The use of Noise Reduction (NR), which removes data that is considered noise before applying SMOTE, has a positive impact in overcoming data imbalance. Clustering establishes decision boundaries by partitioning data into clusters, allowing SMOTE with modified distance metrics to generate minority class data within each cluster. This SMOTE clustering and distance modification approach aims to minimize overlap in synthetic minority data that could introduce noise. The proposed method is called “NR-Clustering SMOTE,” which has several stages in balancing data: (1) filtering by removing minority classes close to majority classes (data noise) using the k-nn method;(2) clustering data using K-means aims to establish decision boundaries by partitioning data into several clusters;(3) applying SMOTE oversampling with Manhattan distance within each cluster.
