Investigation of Mode I Interlaminar Fracture Toughness Recycle Carbon in Hybrid Composite

This paper investigates the Mode I interlaminar fracture toughness of hybrid composites reinforced with recycled carbon fiber and various unidirectional fiber (glass, carbon, and flax). Specimens were tested using a mixed-mode bending jig, and crack propagation was monitored through digital image correlation (DIC). The results revealed that hybrid flax/recycled carbon composites exhibited the highest fracture toughness (1127.89 J/m2), followed by hybrid glass/recycled carbon (807.27 J/m2), and hybrid carbon/recycled carbon (741.09 J/m2). Load-displacement curves indicated significant load drops correlated with crack propagation paths observed in DIC images. Analysis suggested that crack propagation consistently occurred at the interface between the recycled carbon fiber (rCF) layers and the other fiber layers, likely due to the random orientation of the RCF and strength disparities between the fibers. Future research will explore other delamination modes and optimize fiber-matrix interfaces to enhance mechanical properties. © 2025 The Aeronautical and Astronautical Society of the Republic of China. Cloud-based Intelligence of Things is significant for Augmented Enterprise Management systems. Data integrity auditing is challenging in the intelligence of things environment, mainly when the newer versions in the public cloud environment update existing encrypted data. The related literature on cloud-based intelligence relies on encrypted data uploading or locally handling encryption and decryption using user keys. Considering the security risk, storage constraints at the edge, and realtime environment, both approaches have limited applicability in the intelligence of things environment. This paper presents the Privacy-Aware Secure Data Auditing (PASDA) framework at the cluster head for online data integrity verification. Specifically, the users hide data files by the blinding process with a generation of their corresponding signatures, which achieves data auditing by utilizing homomorphic techniques. A novel automated self-triggering/ Self-auditing-based data integrity auditing system is proposed, which detects the changes made in the cloud-stored data and sends alert messages to the trusted primary cloud server and users. A data dynamics method is developed containing a timestamp with a pointer to store multiple versions of the same file without signatures re-generation for the whole same file. The user is revoked due to prolonged absence or detection of the missed behaviour with system or service expiry. With these data dynamics, the proposed PASDA framework allows CH to regenerate signatures of the revoked user using its membership key for cloud-based stored data access and data integrity auditing. In-depth security analysis and extensive simulations based on comparative performance evaluation attest to the benefits of the proposed PA. © 2014 IEEE.

Improved channel estimation for underwater wireless optical communication OFDM systems by combining deep learning and machine learning models

Recent studies on channel estimation in wireless communication systems have focused on deep learning methods. Our primary contribution is based on the use of DenseNet121 hybrid with Random Forest (RF), Gated Recurrent Units (GRU), Long Short-Term Memory Networks (LSTM), and Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) to improve the channel estimation and lower the error rate. In order to mitigate inter-symbol interference and map the datasets, this paper introduces M-quadrature amplitude modulation (16-QAM) and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), which is based on quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK). Additionally, the existence or lack of cyclic prefixes forms the basis of our simulation. Additionally, the suggested models are investigated using pilot samples 2, 4, 8, and 64. Labeled OFDM signal samples, where the labels match the signal received after applying OFDM and passing through the medium, are used to train the proposed models. The DenseNet121 functions as a powerful feature extractor to extract intricate spatial information from received signal data. Sequential models like as RNN, LSTM, and GRU are used to model temporal dependencies in the retrieved features. RF is also utilized to exploit non-linear relationships and interactions between features to further increase prediction accuracy and reduce bit error rate (BER). By comparing the models using key metrics like accuracy, bit error rate (BER), and mean squared error (MSE), superior performance is attained based on the DenseNet121_RNN_GRU_RF model. Additionally, the DLMs are assessed against traditional methods like minimal mean square error (MMSE) and least squares (LS). Using the DenseNet121_RNN_GRU_RF model indicates a considerable gain over alternative architectures, with an improvement of 36.3% over DensNet121-RNN-LSTM-RF, according to a comparison of the suggested models without cyclic prefix for OFDM_QPSK. An optical mouse is a computer navigation device that uses light, primarily to track movement and control the cursor on a computer screen. Other than computer cursors, various fields of applications, such as process instrumentation, robotics, healthcare, and agriculture, now use this ready-to-use device as a sensor due to its low latency, lightweight, high accuracy, and power efficiency. It is also compatible with wearable devices and the Internet of Things (IoT)-based applications, which prefer low-power digital output. Typically, the optical mouse sensor gets popularity for those applications, where measurement is possible by precise motion data or analysis of object image. The sensor detects motion in both the x- and y-axes, and the built-in signal processing unit helps to interface with computers through wires and wireless data transfer protocols. This article's main contribution is a comprehensive study of optical mouse sensors used for various applications other than computer-pointing devices. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

Air quality forecasting is critical for environmental monitoring and public health, and in this study, we propose a hybrid approach utilizing Gooseneck Barnacle Optimization (GBO) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) to enhance predictive accuracy. The air quality dataset, comprising pollutant concentrations (CO, NOx, benzene) and meteorological factors (temperature, humidity), is sourced from the UCI Machine Learning Repository. GBO is employed to fine-tune the ANN's hyperparameters (especially the weight and bias), as well as the number of layers, neurons, and activation functions, to improve regression-based forecasting. The GBOANN model achieves a Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 0.562 and a Root Mean Squared Percentage Error (RMSPE) of 5.63%, outperforming other metaheuristic methods like BMO, SSA, DA, MVO, and EMA. This study demonstrates the GBO-ANN model's potential for accurate real-time air quality forecasting, offering a robust, sustainable solution. © 2025 IEEE.

Cross-Scenario Device-Free Wireless Sensing with A Free-Energy View

Device-free wireless sensing (DFWS) has gained significant attention due to its high accuracy and privacy-preserving capabilities. DFWS systems work by analyzing the influence pattern of targets on the surrounding wireless signals. However, changes in the sensing scenario can alter signal propagation patterns, causing deep learning models to lose effectiveness in cross-scenario applications. To address this problem, we analyze the information content of different samples from a free-energy view, and provide a new idea to guide the alignment of target scenario samples with source scenario samples based on free-energy. We find that free-energy can measure the degree of scenario knowledge contribution of the samples. Based on this observation, we first perform unsupervised coarse alignment by minimizing the free-energy deviation between scenarios. Next, we iteratively select a few number of high free-energy samples near the decision boundary to fine-Tune the network, achieving scenario fine alignment with a small labeling effort. Extensive experiments on two public datasets and one self-collected dataset show that our proposed method achieves high accuracy in cross-scenario human activity and gesture recognition tasks. © 2014 IEEE.

Robust Authentication: Leveraging Hardware Fingerprints and AI to Enhance Security Against Spoofing

Fingerprint authentication blends biometric precision with user convenience, leveraging unique ridge patterns for fast, reliable, and tamper-resistant identity verification. However, it remains vulnerable to spoofing attacks, where adversaries create synthetic fingerprints using materials like gelatin. To mitigate this, multi-factor authentication (MFA) enhances security by verifying both the fingerprint and the user’s device, restricting access to authorized hardware and complicating attacks. Although Photo Response Non-Uniformity (PRNU) has been explored for device authentication, its reliability diminishes under varying lighting conditions. To address this, we propose an AI-driven approach to generate robust hardware fingerprints from fingerprint scanners, enabling high-accuracy device identification. Our method, trained on 2,000 fingerprint images from 10 scanners, achieves an impressive 98% accuracy in identifying the source scanner. By integrating fingerprint biometrics, hardware fingerprints, and passwords, our novel MFA protocol significantly enhances security against spoofing and forgery attacks. Through security analysis, we demonstrate its effectiveness in preventing unauthorized access. Finally, we validate our authentication framework using an AI-powered binary classifier model, showcasing its practicality for real-world security applications. © 2013 IEEE.

In the contemporary business landscape, software has evolved into a strategic asset crucial for organizations seeking sustainable competitive advantage. The imperative of ensuring software quality becomes evident as low-quality software systems pose formidable challenges to organizational performance. This study delves into the profound impact of three key dimensions of information system quality on organizational performance—information quality (IQ), quality of service (QoS), and software quality (SQ). Anchored in the DeLone and McLean information system (IS) success model, a quantitative questionnaire was administered to 360 industry experts and academics. Rigorous data analysis, employing exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and structural equation modeling (SEM), revealed significant positive effects of all three quality dimensions on organizational performance. Among these dimensions, software quality emerged as the most influential, showcasing substantial total effects, closely followed by information and service qualities. The study underscores the tangible value derived from strategic investments in enhancing software, information, and service quality. Elevating these facets manifests as a catalyst for improved organizational performance, empowering decision-makers with accurate and timely information while enhancing user satisfaction with the system. This research contributes significantly to the IS success literature by empirically validating the synergistic relationship between information quality, service quality, software quality, and organizational outcomes. The systematic analysis offered in this study goes beyond theoretical validation, providing actionable insights for managers. The findings guide the prioritization of quality initiatives and resource allocation, enabling organizations to maximize competitive advantage. A Package Level Regression Test Selection Approach for Java Software systems

Regression testing of software systems is an important and critical activity but can be expensive and resource-intensive. An approach to enhance its efficiency is Regression Test Selection (RTS), which selectively re-executes a subset of relevant tests that are impacted by code modifications. Previous studies on static and dynamic RTS for Java software have shown that selecting tests at the class level is more effective than using finer granularities like methods or statements. Nevertheless, RTS at the package level, which is a coarser granularity than class level, has not been thoroughly investigated or evaluated for Java projects. To address this gap, we propose PKRTS, a static package-level RTS approach that utilizes the structural dependencies of the software system under test to construct a package-level dependency graph. PKRTS analyzes dependencies in the graph and identifies relevant tests that can reach modified packages, i.e., packages containing altered classes. In contrast to conventional static RTS techniques, PKRTS implicitly considers dynamic dependencies, such as Java reflection and virtual method calls, among classes belonging to the same package by treating all those classes as a single cohesive node in the dependency graph. We evaluated PKRTS on 885 revisions of 9 open-source Java projects, with its performance compared to Ekstazi, a state-of-the-art dynamic class-level approach, and STARTS, a state-of-the-art static class-level approach. We used Ekstazi as the baseline to measure the safety and precision violations of PKRTS and STARTS. The results indicated that PKRTS outperformed static class-level RTS in terms of safety violation, which measures the extent to which relevant test cases are missed. PKRTS showed an average safety violation of 2.29%, while STARTS recorded 5.94%.
