With the rapid development of intelligent transportation systems and growing emphasis on driver safety, real-time detection of driver drowsiness has become a critical area of research. This study presents a robust and scalable driver drowsiness detection framework that integrates a Swin Transformer-based deep learning model with a diffusion model for image denoising. While conventional convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are effective in standard vision tasks, they often suffer performance degradation in real-world driving scenarios due to noise, poor lighting, motion blur, and adversarial attacks. To address these challenges, the proposed model focuses on eye-state detection, specifically, prolonged eye closure, as a primary indicator of driver disengagement and fatigue. Our system introduces a novel preprocessing stage using a denoising diffusion model built on a U-Net encoder-decoder architecture, effectively mitigating the impact of Gaussian noise and adversarial perturbations. Additionally, we incorporate adversarial training with Fast Gradient Sign Method (FGSM) and Projected Gradient Descent (PGD) attacks, demonstrating significant improvements in classification accuracy and resilience. Evaluations are conducted on two benchmark datasets, Eye-Blink and Closed Eyes in the Wild (CEW), under both clean and noisy conditions. Comparative experiments show that the proposed system outperforms several state-of-the-art models, including ViT, ResNet50V2, InceptionV3, MobileNet, DenseNet169, and VGG19, in terms of accuracy (up to 99.82%), PSNR (up to 41.61 dB), and SSIM (up to 0.984), while maintaining competitive inference times suitable for practical deployment. Moreover, a detailed sensitivity analysis of data augmentation strategies reveals that techniques such as rotation and horizontal flip substantially enhance the model’s generalization across variable visual inputs. The permanent magnet (PM) Vernier machines enhance torque density and decrease cogging torque compared to conventional permanent magnet synchronous motor. This paper presents a novel fractional-slot H-shaped PM Vernier machines, which incorporates unique design for the PM housing and rotor core construction. These designs are specifically optimized for the small-scale electric vehicles application. The choice of the PM arrangement is based on the combination of V-shaped and spoke-array PM topologies. The aim is to achieve a higher torque density than V-shaped PM machines, while reducing cogging torque compared to spoke-array PM machines. By using this methodology, leakage fluxes in the terminal region of the PMs reduce, resulting in an augmentation of both flux-linkage and power factor. A prototype 680 W motor was fabricated with 12 slots and 8 poles to verify the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed model. Mathematical model and dynamical analysis are proposed for the analytical prediction of machine performance. Due to the unique shape feature of the machine, the conformal mapping approach is applied to design the rotor core. To validate the model, the predicted performance of the motor was compared with those obtained by finite element analysis and experiments. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

Smart agriculture systems leverage the possibilities offered by cutting-edge technologies such as IoT, AI, and remote sensing to revolutionize conventional farming by enhancing resource utilization, production, and crop damage mitigation. Real-time monitoring of soil and crop health, predictive analytics, pest control, and precision irrigation measures are all enabled by these systems. They are able to address major Indian agriculture issues, consequently boosting yield and profitability and promoting environmental sustainability. The largescale deployment of intelligent agriculture systems will change the agriculture landscape in India and will assure long-term food security for an ever-growing population. Challenges include adequate research and future studies in order to better install and achieve smart agricultural systems to protect crops. Intelligent agriculture involves all advanced research, including science and innovations, in national development through space technologies to enhance soil quality, conserve water, and facilitate agriculture information. Space ventures will undergo improved modernization through the introduction of crop sprayers, precision gene editors, epigenetics, big data analytics, IoT, wind and photovoltaic smart energy, AI-enabled robotic applications, and wide-scale desalination technologies. Implementing digital farming systems in developing economies will help their sectors as 85 percent of the global population is set to live in developing countries by 2030. Automation will prove to be necessary since food scarcity is on the rise along with resource wastage. In this work, a novel methodological approach to multi-attribute decision-making problems is developed and the notion of Heptapartitioned Neutrosophic Set Distance Measures (HNSDM) is introduced. By averaging the Penta-Partitioned Neutrosophic Distance Measures under particular conditional criteria, the suggested technique ranks the options. Additionally, we explore the fundamental characteristics of HNSDM and provide several illustrative theorems. The Heptapartitioned Neutrosophic Set Distance Measures are formulated based on the Hepta Neutrosophic Set. Desertification greatly affects land deterioration, farming efficiency, economic growth, and health, especially in Gulf nations. Climate change has worsened desertification, making developmental issues in the area even more difficult. This research presents an enhanced framework utilizing the Internet of Things (IoT) for ongoing monitoring, data gathering, and analysis to evaluate desertification patterns. The framework utilizes Bayesian Belief Networks (BBN) to categorize IoT data, while a low-latency processing method on edge computing platforms enables effective detection of desertification trends. The classified data is subsequently analyzed using an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) optimized with a Genetic Algorithm (GA) for forecasting decisions. Using cloud computing infrastructure, the ANN-GA model examines intricate data connections to forecast desertification risk elements. Moreover, the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) model is employed to predict desertification over varied time intervals. Experimental simulations illustrate the effectiveness of the suggested framework, attaining enhanced performance in essential metrics: Temporal Delay (103.68 s), Classification Efficacy—Sensitivity (96.44 %), Precision (95.56 %), Specificity (96.97 %), and F-Measure (96.69 %)—Predictive Efficiency—Accuracy (97.76 %) and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) (1.95 %)—along with Reliability (93.73 %) and Stability (75 %). The results of classification effectiveness and prediction performance emphasize the framework's ability to detect high-risk zones and predict the severity of desertification. This innovative method improves the comprehension of desertification processes and encourages sustainable land management practices, reducing the socio-economic impacts of desertification and bolstering at-risk ecosystems. Background: Foreign object debris (FOD) is an unwanted substance that damages vehicular systems, most commonly the wheels of vehicles. In airport runways, these foreign objects can damage the wheels or internal systems of planes, potentially leading to flight crashes. Surveys indicate that FOD-related damage costs over $4 billion annually, affecting airlines, airport tenants, and passengers. Current FOD clearance involves high-cost radars and significant manpower, and existing radar and camera-based surveillance methods are expensive to install. Methods: This work proposes a video-based deep learning methodology to address the high cost of radar-based FOD detection. The proposed system consists of two modules for FOD detection: object classification and object localization. The classification module categorizes FOD into specific types of foreign objects. In the object localization module, these classified objects are pinpointed in video frames. Results: The proposed system was experimentally tested with a large video dataset and compared with existing methods. The results demonstrated improved accuracy and robustness, allowing the FOD clearance team to quickly detect and remove foreign objects, thereby enhancing the safety and efficiency of airport runway operations. © 2025 S et al.

In the context of Intelligent Transportation systems (ITS), the role of vehicle detection and classification is indispensable for streamlining transportation management, refining traffic control, and conducting in-depth accident analyses. However, the intricate task of accurately detecting multi-oriented vehicles in diverse scenarios remains a challenge, even with the advancements in ITS. Factors such as vehicle morphology, design, road conditions, structural details, and climatic variables provide a significant part in the detection. To address this, our study introduces an advanced YOLOv8n model, specifically the YOLOv8n-CGW, which is built upon pre-trained deep learning frameworks. This model is meticulously tailored to enhance the detection capabilities for multi-oriented vehicles. Comprehensive evaluations on esteemed datasets like MtV, MERGED, Custom dataset, DAWN, WEDGE, and UA-DETRAC underscore the superiority of our approach over existing models. Notably, our YOLOv8n-CGW model achieves a remarkable mAP of 83.3% and boasts a swift inference time of 0.0019s, setting a new benchmark in the domain. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Machine Learning (ML) with 5G technology has revolutionized smart healthcare. It has helped improve the quality of care, such as real-time analysis, decision-making, patient monitoring, and personalized treatments. In this paper, a 5G aware real-time diabetes prediction framework is proposed using optimized Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM) with Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL). Bi-LSTM can analyze time-series data in forward and backward passes on patient health metrics, such as Blood Glucose (BG) levels of a diabetic patient, to identify patterns and trends and make predictions about future health outcomes. A local dataset using a wearable sensor is collected of 10 Type-2 diabetic patients, encompassing daily BG levels at different times, alongside additional parameters such as blood pressure and body weight. The proposed framework leverages a dataset of 1,830 data points to forecast glucose levels for the following day. It also harnesses DRL to improve and optimize the model's future predictive performance. The obtained results are evaluated with other ML algorithms to validate the effectiveness of the proposed framework, which shows an improvement from 93.1% to 98.6% accuracy. The patient's diabetic condition is categorized using the Surveillance Error Grid (SEG) to increase the clinical impact of glucose prediction and make informed decisions. The results show that Bi-LSTM-DRL is an effective approach to predicting glucose levels in real-time and can adapt to health-related changes and optimize its predictions accordingly. © 2014 IEEE.

Enhancing Skin Disease Diagnosis: Light GBM-DMS Algorithm for Accurate Image Classification

Globally, skin diseases are emerging as the most common health problem. It initiates depressive disorder, and it also causes physical health distress. It rarely led to skin cancer in extreme cases. Diagnosing skin disease is subjective and time-consuming when it is performed by health experts manually. Hence, automatic skin disease prediction is required by both dermatologists and patients to enhance and accelerate treatment plans. Even though many machine-learning techniques are available to detect skin diseases, the timely prediction and accurate classification of skin lesions are still in demand. Hence, the Discrete Mycorrhizal Search Algorithm is used to optimize the novel LightGBM to meet this objective. Firstly, intrusions like noise elimination and hair removal are performed and then the image resizing takes place by utilizing the preprocessing pipelines. Subsequent to data pre-processing, the prime features are extracted using the convolutional self-attention based L2 regularization, thus minimizing the data complexity. At last, the extracted features are shifted to the final categorization phase which is done by the novel approach for effective classification of skin diseases. Two skin disease classification images, including datasets, the Skin Lesions Dermatoscopic Image dataset and Skin Cancer MNIST HAM10000, are selected to validate the classification performance. Comprehensive analyses are performed with significant measures that showed the proposed model attained better performances of 98.6%, 0.95, and 10.43 s from accuracy, intersection of union, and execution time, respectively. The stability and robustness under different environmental conditions for clinical applications in skin disease detection and classification tasks are analyzed for making decisions in real-time scenarios. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.
