We observe an infinite sequence of independent identically distributed random variables X1, X2, . . . drawn from an unknown distribution p over [n], and our goal is to estimate the entropy H(p) = − E[log p(X)] within an Ε-additive *** that end, at each time point we are allowed to update a finite-state machine with S states, using a possibly randomized but time-invariant rule, where each state of the machine is assigned an entropy estimate. Our goal is to characterize the minimax memory complexity S∗ of this problem, which is the minimal number of states for which the estimation task is feasible with probability at least 1 − δ asymptotically, uniformly in ***, we show that there exist universal constants C1and C2 such that S∗ (Formula presented) for Ε not too small, andS∗ (Formula presented) for Ε not too large. The upper bound is proved using approximate counting to estimate the logarithm of p, and a finite memory bias estimation machine to estimate the expectation operation. The lower bound is proved via a reductionof entropy estimation to uniformity testing. Non-Destructive Detection of Fillet Fish Quality Using MQ135 Gas Sensor and Neutrosophic Logic-Enhanced System

This paper demonstrates the feasibility of using an electronic nose to assess fish quality by analyzing air quality and examining volatile organic compounds (VOCs) alongside physical variables, with pH, protein content, and VOCs serving as chemical reference points. Artificial intelligence algorithms were employed to predict quality and calculate regression coefficients. Using the reference neural network algorithm based on chemical and physical compounds, regression coefficients (R values) achieved were 0.99, 0.98, and 0.97, respectively. Additionally, ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System) produced R values of 0.99, 0.85, and 0.98. Both fuzzy logic and ANFIS proved effective for predicting fish quality. Image processing techniques, including histogram analysis, color mapping, and edge detection, were also applied to assess fish quality. To enhance the inference process, Neutrosophic Logic-Enhanced Fuzzy Logic systems were utilized, addressing uncertainty and imprecision in fish quality assessment. Neutrosophic logic combines fuzzy logic's partial truth with indeterminacy, represented by three membership functions: truth, indeterminacy, and falsity. Neutrosophic fuzzy inference integrates steps like neutrosophication, rule evaluation, aggregation, and defuzzification, ensuring improved expressiveness and fidelity. For instance, neutrosophic fuzzy rules evaluated fish freshness and appearance to determine quality ratings such as poor, good, or excellent. This integration enhances decision-making by accurately modeling complex real-world uncertainties. These methods, combining electronic nose technology, artificial intelligence, and neutrosophic inference, provide a robust, non-destructive, and cost-effective approach to detecting spoilage in fillet fish. © 2025, University of New Mexico. An imbalanced dataset often challenges machine learning, particularly classification methods. Underrepresented minority classes can result in biased and inaccurate models. The Synthetic Minority Over-Sampling Technique (SMOTE) was developed to address the problem of imbalanced data. Over time, several weaknesses of the SMOTE method have been identified in generating synthetic minority class data, such as overlapping, noise, and small disjuncts. However, these studies generally focus on only one of SMOTE’s weaknesses: noise or overlapping. Therefore, this study addresses both issues simultaneously by tackling noise and overlapping in SMOTE-generated data. This study proposes a combined approach of filtering, clustering, and distance modification to reduce noise and overlapping produced by SMOTE. Filtering removes minority class data (noise) located in majority class regions, with the k-nn method applied for filtering. The use of Noise Reduction (NR), which removes data that is considered noise before applying SMOTE, has a positive impact in overcoming data imbalance. Clustering establishes decision boundaries by partitioning data into clusters, allowing SMOTE with modified distance metrics to generate minority class data within each cluster. This SMOTE clustering and distance modification approach aims to minimize overlap in synthetic minority data that could introduce noise. The proposed method is called “NR-Clustering SMOTE,” which has several stages in balancing data: (1) filtering by removing minority classes close to majority classes (data noise) using the k-nn method;(2) clustering data using K-means aims to establish decision boundaries by partitioning data into several clusters;(3) applying SMOTE oversampling with Manhattan distance within each cluster. Lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) involves the narrowing of the spinal canal, leading to compression of the spinal cord and nerves in the lower back. Common causes include injuries, degenerative age-related changes, congenital conditions, and tumors, all of which contribute to back pain. Early diagnosis is critical for symptom management, preventing progression, and preserving quality of life. This study systematically reviews AI-based approaches for predicting LSS using MRI axial and sagittal imaging. The review focuses on various AI tasks: detection, segmentation, classification, hybrid approaches, spinal index measurements (SIM), and explainable AI frameworks. The aim is to highlight current knowledge, identify limitations in existing models, and propose future research directions. Following PRISMA guidelines and the PICO method (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome), the review collects data from databases like PubMed, Web of science, scienceDirect, and IEEE Xplore (2005–2024). The Rayyan AI tool is used for duplicate removal and screening. The screening process includes an initial review of titles and abstracts, followed by full-text appraisal. The Meta Quality Appraisal Tool (MetaQAT) assesses the quality of selected articles. Of 1323 records, 97 duplicates were removed. After screening, 895 records were excluded, leaving 331 for full-text review. Among these, 184 articles were excluded for lacking AI relevance. Ultimately, 95 key articles (91 technical papers and 4 reviews) were identified for their contributions to AI-based LSS prediction. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of AI techniques in LSS prediction, guiding future research and advancing understanding in areas like explainable AI and large language models (LLMs). © The Author(s) 2025.

The Internet of Things (IoT) stands as a revolutionary leap in digital connectivity, envisioning a future network connecting billions of devices, seamlessly. Amidst the myriad benefits, there arises an intricate web of challenges, prominently centered around potential threats and data security implications. Recent cryptography techniques, such as DNA-based cryptography, 3D chaos-based cryptography, and optical cryptography, face challenges including large encryption times, high energy consumption, and suboptimal rather than optimal performance. Particularly, the burden of long encryption cycles strains the energy resources of typical low-power and compact IoT devices. These challenges render the devices vulnerable to unauthorized breaches, despite large storage capacities. The hallmark of the IoT ecosystem, characterized by its low-power compact devices, is the burgeoning volume of data they generate. This escalating data influx, while necessitating expansive storage, remains vulnerable to unauthorized access and breaches. Historically, encryption algorithms, with their multifaceted architectures, have been the bulwark against such intrusions. However, their inherently-complex nature, entailing multiple encryption cycles, strains the limited energy reserves of typical IoT devices. In response to this intricate dilemma, we present a hybrid lightweight encryption strategy. Our algorithm innovatively leverages both one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) chaotic key generators. Furthermore, it amalgamates a classical encryption philosophy, harmonizing the strengths of Feistel and substitution-permutation networks. The centerpiece of our strategy is achieving effective encryption in merely three rounds, tailored expressly for compressed Three-Dimensional Video (3DV) frames, ensuring their unwavering integrity. Generalized Critical Observability of Labeled Petri Nets Under Nondeterministic Observations

This paper addresses the property of critical observability in labeled Petri nets. A system is deemed critically observable if its state estimate (formed by observing the system output) can be determined to belong to a set of either critical markings or non-critical markings. More generally, for a critically observable system, there may be multiple types of critical markings and the operator may desire to know the type to which the current state estimate belongs. We propose a generalized version of critical observability, namely generalized critical observability, and provide two necessary and sufficient conditions to check it based on basis markings and integer linear programs, effectively circumventing the need for an exhaustive enumeration of all reachable markings of the net. In addition, we investigate (generalized) critical observability of Petri nets under nondeterministic observations, which may arise due to the loss of transmission signals or due to interference with sensor measurement outputs. To handle this, an augmented system is constructed from the original Petri net by adding new transitions that capture the effect of transitions associated with nondeterministic labels. Thus, we transform the verification of (generalized) critical observability of a Petri net under nondeterministic observations to that of the augmented model. Two real-world examples illustrate the applicability of the presented notion and methodology. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Future wireless networks could benefit from the energy-efficient, low-latency, and scalable deployments that Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RISs) offer. However, the creation of an effective low overhead channel estimate technique is a major obstacle in RIS-assisted systems, especially given the high number of RIS components and intrinsic hardware constraints. This research examines the uplink of a RIS-empowered multi-user MIMO communication system and presents a novel semi-blind channel estimate approach. Unlike current approaches, which rely on pilot-based channel estimation, our methodology uses data to estimate channels, considerably enhancing the achievable rate. We provide a closed-form deterministic expression for the uplink achievable rate in actual settings where the channel state information (CSI) must be estimated rather than assumed perfect. The results of the simulations show that the formula obtained is accurate, with a close alignment between the deterministic and actual achievable rates (generally between 2 5% deviations). The proposed approach outperforms traditional approaches, resulting in rate increases of up to 35-40%, especially in instances with more RIS elements. These findings illustrate RIS technology's tremendous potential to improve system capacity and coverage, providing useful insights for optimizing RIS adoption in future wireless networks. © 2020 IEEE.

CNN-Based Multi-Output and Multi-Task Regression for Supershape Reconstruction from 3D Point Clouds

In a number of industries, including computer graphics, robotics, and medical imaging, three-dimensional reconstruction is essential. In this research, a CNN-based Multi-output and Multi-Task Regressor with deep learning capabilities is proposed for three-dimensional object reconstruction from 3D point cloud. Our approach is grounded in the original Point Net architecture, which addresses the difficulties associated with convolution when applied to point clouds. Firstly, this paper is modified using a Multi-Output Regressor to accurately recreate Super forms from 3D point clouds. Using this method, we first extract features from the 3D point cloud using Point Net. After that, a Multi-Output Regressor receives these data and uses them to anticipate the Super shape parameters needed to reconstruct the shape. Taking in the data, the Multi-Output Regressor retrieved characteristics from Point Net and simultaneously predicts several outcomes. Second, a Multi-Task Regressor is used to modify the Point Net. The network gains from the capacity to transfer knowledge from one task to another, improving the model's overall performance. The model would forecast the ten parameters needed to create the shape in the case of rebuilding Super shapes. The test findings were better than expected;they are intriguing in terms of prediction accuracy and cost, and they update the result by 80%, which is a good accomplishment for the study. © 2025 Slovene Society Informatika. Supervisory Control of Discrete Event systems Modeled With Labeled Petri Nets for Diagnosability Enforcement

This paper proposes an active fault diagnosis method to enforce the diagnosability of discrete event systems using labeled Petri nets by constructing a diagnostic supervisor. For a non-diagnosable net model, its diagnosability is viewed as a control specification and addressed by using supervisory control techniques. First, an event-based monitor and a Petri net structure, referred to as data isolation arcs, are introduced to apply control specifications for labeled Petri nets. Then, a diagnostic supervisor reachability graph is generated to estimate the current state of the diagnoser. By analyzing the diagnostic supervisor reachability graph, an integer linear programming model is formulated to design a diagnostic supervisor, which can prevent the system from entering into any indeterminate cycle only by observing the occurrence of events. Finally, by the obtained diagnostic supervisor, the resulting net model is shown to be diagnosable. Some examples are presented to demonstrate the proposed method. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

The TMAP Framework: Describing the Design Space of Technology-Mediated Audience Participation in Live Music

Technology-mediated audience participation (TMAP) offers a wide variety of ways to enhance the involvement of spectators during a music performance. Technological change has created rich new opportunities for such interactive performance experiences. Effective design of TMAP requires balancing knowledge from diverse human and technological perspectives and taking into account very different characteristics and requirements in live music performance. However, research in this distinctive area of interaction design is limited, and the provision of practical guidance for designers has been scarcely addressed thus far. To bridge this gap, we propose the TMAP Framework, which describes the design space of audience participation in a practice-oriented way to support design-related processes. This descriptive framework is grounded on existing literature from the last 25 years, and has been iteratively improved and peer reviewed with different experts. It was validated using actual TMAP performances not included in the framework development. The TMAP Framework contains 180 entities in a tree-like sorted structure on four levels. Alongside the contribution to knowledge of extensively describing the design space of TMAP in live music, with the validation of the framework, we demonstrate its completeness, stability and generalisability. In this regard, the framework may also serve as a common language between different perspectives and practitioners, thus addressing the highly interdisciplinary nature of the TMAP field. © 2013 IEEE.
