A priority-based blockchain transaction packaging algorithm in a cloud-edge-end collaboration computing environment

With the rapid development of mobile internet, intelligent IoT, and 5G communication technologies, many IoT devices connect to the Industrial Internet of Things, generating significant data. Blockchain is widely used in identity authentication and trust management due to its reliability. In blockchain technology, transaction packaging is a crucial component of the consensus mechanism and is critical to enhancing fairness and service quality in request processing. However, the flat structure of the blockchain, the necessity for multi-party consensus, and the profit-seeking nature of nodes lead to issues such as unfair transaction processing and prolonged response times in cloud-edge-end architectures, which are critical for empowering intelligent edge applications. To address these challenges, we have refined the blockchain consensus mechanism and introduced a novel packaging algorithm, ITFPA (Improved time-fee packaging algorithm), within the cloud-edge-end environment. This algorithm models the transaction packaging problem as a 0–1 knapsack problem and employs a branch-and-bound method to find the optimal solution. The proposed model considers both the transaction waiting time and transaction fee, using the weighted result of these factors as the priority for the transaction. We compared the proposed algorithm with the WaitTime and TxFee algorithms across four metrics: system fairness, transaction response time, and block priority. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm enhances system fairness, reduces transaction response times, and improves service quality to a significant degree. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2025.

Evolution characteristics of unfrozen water content and damage for saturated sandstone during freezing–thawing cycle process based on the in-situ nuclear magnetic resonance

The accurate determination of unfrozen water content is significant to evaluating the freezing process of pore water and to revealing the freezing damage mechanism. In this study, an in-situ low filed nuclear magnetic resonance (LF-NMR) testing system equipped with a low temperature thermal cycle system were designed to conduct freezing–thawing cycle tests. The pore water freezing process of three sandstone samples (Coarse-grained sandstone, Medium-grained sandstone, Fine-grained sandstone) was studied by using the LF-NMR technology. The results indicate that the free water content of the three sandstone samples decreases sharply as the temperature decrease, the free water signal intensity and peak region decrease significantly from 0℃ to -5 ℃, whereas bound water that exists in small pores needs a much lower temperatures to freezing. The larger the equivalent average pore size, the faster the water–ice conversion rate. The more movable water the sample contains, the greater the frost heaving force generated inside the sample. At the temperature range of 0 ~ -10 ℃, the freezing-heaving strain increasing sharply, and gradually become gentle as the temperature declining. Coarse-grained sandstone with the highest porosity has the largest freezing-heaving strain, while the Fine-grained sandstone with the lowest porosity has the smallest freezing-heaving strain. The freezing damage of Coarse-grained sandstone is more serious than the other two sandstone. P-wave velocities and scanning electron microscope (SEM) test also indicate that Coarse-grained sandstone has more serious damage than Fine-grained sandstone subjected to freezing–thawing cycle. © The Author(s) 2025.

Smart cities aim to provide more digitalized, equitable, sustainable, and liveable cities. In smart cities data evolves as an important asset and citizens data in particular is being used to provide data-driven mobility services. Likewise, in smart cities data is produced and used by individuals having no ownership or control over these data thus affecting their security and privacy. Also, actors such as mobility service providers, companies, third parties, etc. often leverage individuals’ data without regarding users’ autonomy. Accordingly, data sovereignty which entails the possibility to govern and keep control over owned data is gaining widespread attention. As a result, stakeholders in the mobility sector need to share data whilst keeping control to manage data access and usage. Although, existing initiatives are promoting sovereign participation using a federated infrastructure. However, achieving an effective governance usage control and access mechanisms can be challenging especially in the transportation sector. It is thus imperative for individuals to have control, ownership, and custody over their data. This has necessitated the notions of data sovereignty. Therefore, this article employs a systematic review to examine how data sovereignty can be achieved for individuals when they use urban mobility services in smart cities by enabling the secure sharing of data by giving control of data over to individuals. Additionally, this article designs a data control scheme that can be applied to realize data sovereign mobility services. Evidence from this study provides technical and non-technical requirements needed in realizing data sovereignty in smart cities. © 2025 The Author(s)

Background: Due to their complexity and size, deploying ciphertexts for clouds is considered the most useful approach to accessing large data stores. Methods: However, access to a user's access legitimacy and improving a decrypted text on the cloud depending on an improved access policy (AP) specified by the data owner are the key challenges for making large data storage realistic and effective in clouds. The traditional ways either totally remove the problem of AP development or offer renewal to arbiter power, but in real-time, enhancing the AP is essential to maximising security and handling agility. Results: In this patent paper, a safe and verifiable access control program characterised by the NTRU cryptographic system for large storage of data in the clouds is proposed. Primarily, an improved NTRU decryption protocol to deal with the decryption failures of the prime NTRU is established, and in addition, the program is analysed for its security strength and computational performance. When a new AP is specified by the data owner, the cloud server allows the program to improve ciphertext and allows the owner to verify the upgrade to oppose the cloud's fraudulent behaviour. Conclusion: It enables (i) checking the user's legitimacy to access the data owner and qualified users, and (ii) allowing the user to verify the data provided by other users for the recovery of the right user. Strong analysis can prevent and block delinquency from various attacks, namely the collusion attack that could potentially target fraud users. © 2025 Bentham science Publishers.

Movable-Antenna-Assisted Covert Communications With Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces

This article proposes a novel covert communication framework utilizing movable antennas (MAs) to enable covert communications in which the evading detection eavesdropper aided by a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS). The trajectories of the MAs over the entire time slot, transmit beamforming, and the phase shift of the RIS in each time slot are jointly optimized to improve the covert rate. Specifically, the movement trajectories of the MAs are modeled as a Markov decision process (MDP), optimized by developing a novel deep reinforcement learning (DRL) approach. Furthermore, an alternating optimization (AO) algorithm is designed to jointly optimize the beamforming and phase. In particular, penalty-based two-layer iterative algorithm is proposed to guarantee that the solution satisfies the rank-one constraints. Numerical results show that the proposed MA-assisted covert communications system significantly outperforms conventional fixed-position antenna (FPA) schemes in terms of covert rate. © 2014 IEEE.

Navigation services enable users to find the shortest path from a starting point S to a destination D, reducing time, gas, and traffic congestion. Still, navigation users risk the exposure of their sensitive location data. Our motivation arises from how users can accurately, securely, and efficiently navigate from S to Dwhile passing through k unordered stops, i.e., midway locations with a non-fixed visiting order. In this work, we formally define Semi-Constrained Navigation (SCN) and present a novel scheme Hermestoachieveaccurate,secure, andefficient SCN. Specifically, weproposeadivide-and-conquerapproachtostrikeagoodbalance betweenaccuracyandefficiency. It recursively depth-first-searches the whole area (a navigation tree) and invokes five carefully-crafted strategies stop-by-stop to compute three subpaths in three se quential subareas. We construct a path-distance oracle to encrypt the road graph and securely implement the strategies by using homomorphic encryption and garble circuits. We formally prove the security in the random oracle model and analyze the search complexity to be less than O(k2). We experiment over a real-world city map and compare with six baselines. Results show that path search with k = 4 among N = 1000 intersections requires 5.58 seconds with a 3.2% distance deviation rate and an 82.5% path similarity. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

AI applications have become ubiquitous,bringing significant convenience to various *** e-commerce,AI can enhance product recommendations for individuals and provide businesses with more accurate predictions for market strategy ***,if the data used for AI applications is damaged or lost,it will inevitably affect the effectiveness of these AI ***,it is essential to verify the integrity of e-commerce *** existing Provable Data Possession(PDP)protocols can verify the integrity of cloud data,they are not suitable for e-commerce scenarios due to the limited computational capabilities of edge servers,which cannot handle the high computational overhead of generating homomorphic verification tags in *** address this issue,we propose PDP with Outsourced Tag Generation for AI-driven e-commerce,which outsources the computation of homomorphic verification tags to cloud servers while introducing a lightweight verification method to ensure that the tags match the uploaded ***,the proposed scheme supports dynamic operations such as adding,deleting,and modifying data,enhancing its ***,experiments show that the additional computational overhead introduced by outsourcing homomorphic verification tags is acceptable compared to the original PDP.

In response to the escalating demand for electricity, the aging process and inherent failures in power lines have become unavoidable challenges in their operational integrity. This research addresses the imperative need for a robust method to detect damage in power insulator disc images, introducing a novel feature extraction technique grounded in color intensity profile transformation and ensemble learning. For the purposes of the research, a specific dataset was developed based on publicly available images of power insulators. The collection consists of 9232 images of insulator discs which included 2184 images of damaged discs. The discernible damages include breakages and burnouts. Two distinct analysis variants were employed. In the first variant (V1), two classification groups were selected: disc with damages and disc without damages. In the second variant (V2), three classification groups were selected: discs without damage, broken discs, and burnout discs. The described research was divided into two successive stages. In the first of them (S1), the transformed color intensity profiles for the prepared data set were built and various machine learning models for their classification were trained and evaluated. In the next stage (S2), previously developed, highest efficient machine learning models, were used to make the detection of various damaged types of overhead line insulator discs. For the first stage of research high-performance results and a high value of the F1 score parameters were obtained (F1 score = 0.999 for the first variant (S1V1) and F1 score = 0.992 for the second variant (S1V2). In the second stage of research and the first variant (S2V1), the highest result of the F1 score was 0.932 and for the second variant (S2V2) F1 score was 0.930. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

The discharge of domestic sewage by urban residents has always been a major factor causing water pollution in rivers, and with the continuous improvement of people's living standards, the amount of domestic sewage discharge is also increasing year by year. In order to predict the specific situation of domestic sewage discharge by urban residents in the Pearl River area in the future, this paper establishes an ARIMA model, combined with the existing 21 year domestic sewage discharge data, to make predictions for the next 10 years. During the prediction process, the original data is subjected to ADF test to obtain the optimal difference data, and this data is subjected to ACF and PACF analysis, and the model test table is drawn. The white noise sequence of the data was examined using both ACF and PACF. The analysis concluded that both AR residuals and MA residuals are sequences of white noise, thereby meeting the prerequisites for the ARIMA model. Subsequently, the formula for the ARIMA model was derived, and a model diagram of the time prediction sequence was illustrated. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.
