Spatio-Temporal Adaptive Super-Resolution Reconstruction Model Based on Zemike Moment for Spatial Video Sequences

Video Super-Resolution （SR） reconstruction produces video sequences with High Resolution （HR） via the fusion of several Low-Resolution （LR） video frames. Traditional methods rely on the accurate estimation of subpixel motion, which constrains their applicability to video sequences with relatively simple motions such as global translation. We propose an efficient iterative spatio-temporal adaptive SR reconstruction model based on Zemike Moment （ZM）, which is effective for spatial video sequences with arbitrary motion. The model uses region correlation judgment and self-adaptive threshold strategies to improve the effect and time efficiency of the ZM-based SR method. This leads to better mining of non-local self-similarity and local structural regularity, and is robust to noise and rotation. An efficient iterative curvature-based interpolation scheme is introduced to obtain the initial HR estimation of each LR video frame. Experimental results both on spatial and standard video sequences demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms existing methods in terms of both subjective visual and objective quantitative evaluations, and greatly improves the time efficiency.

The breakage-fusion-bridge (BFB) mechanism was proposed over seven decades ago and is a source of genomic variability and gene amplification in cancer. Here we formally model and analyze the BFB mechanism, to our knowledge this first time this has been undertaken. We show that BFB can be modeled as successive inverted prefix duplications of a string. Using this model, we show that BFB can achieve a surprisingly broad range of amplification patterns. We find that a sequence of BFB operations can be found that nearly fits most patterns of copy number increases along a chromosome. We conclude that this limits the usefulness of methods like array CGH for detecting BFB and discuss other implications for understanding mechanisms of genomic instability. © 2012 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

As the rapid growth of smart phone technology, people have a lot of digital image information such as digital photos or videos. Both data hiding and data compression are very important technologies in image processing field. On the overview, it seems that there is no relationship between data hiding and data compression because data hiding mechanisms focus on information security and data compression mechanisms emphasize the compression ratio. However, the more secret data is embedded, the more capacity the stego image increases. Actually, they are closely related. Until now, there are many literatures to discuss the secret data how to be embedded into the media image and keeps the original capacity as soon as possible. In this paper, a reversible data hiding scheme based on EMD data hiding and JPEG (Joint Picture Experts Group) compression technology will be proposed. According to experimental results, the authors can prove that our proposed scheme maintains high embedding capacity, security and good compression ratio.

The quantity of information on nanomaterial properties and behavior continues to grow rapidly. Without a concerted effort to collect, organize and mine disparate information coming out of current research efforts, the value and effective use of this information will be limited at best. Data will not be translated to knowledge. At worst, erroneous conclusions will be drawn and future research may be misdirected. Nanoinformatics can be a powerful approach to enhance the value of global information in nanoscience and nanotechnology. Much progress has been made through grassroots efforts in nanoinformatics resulting in a multitude of resources and tools for nanoscience researchers. In 2012, the nanoinformatics community believed it was important to critically evaluate and refine currently available nanoinformatics approaches in order to best inform the science and support the future of predictive nanotechnology. The Greener Nano 2012: Nanoinformatics Tools and Resources Workshop brought together informatics groups with materials scientists active in nanoscience research to evaluate and reflect on the tools and resources that have recently emerged in support of predictive nanotechnology. The workshop goals were to establish a better understanding of current nanoinformatics approaches and to clearly define immediate and projected informatics infrastructure needs of the nanotechnology community. The theme of nanotechnology environmental health and safety (nanoEHS) was used to provide real-world, concrete examples on how informatics can be utilized to advance our knowledge and guide nanoscience. The benefit here is that the same properties that impact the performance of products could also be the properties that inform EHS. From a decision management standpoint, the dual use of such data should be considered a priority. Key outcomes include a proposed collaborative framework for data collection, data sharing and information integration. © 2013 IOP Publishing Ltd.

Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) were coated first with methylene blue (MB) by noncovalent adsorption and then by horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and glucose oxidase (GOD) by covalent-linking. The MB-MWNTs/GOD/HRP composites formed stable films on screen-printed electrodes (SPE). The electrochemical and electrocatalytic behaviors of the bienzyme modified SPE were studied using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and amperometry. Using the MB-MWNT/GOD/HRP composites, glucose could be calibrated by amperometry at -0.35 V vs. SCE. The optimized response (at pH 7.0) had a sensitivity of 2.4 mA.M-1 and a limit of detection (3xS/N) of 35 mu M. Tests of the portable bienzyme sensor demonstrate its imperviousness to the effects of ascorbic acid, uric acid and p-acetaminophen, as well as its ability to measure glucose concentrations ranging from 0.25 to 2 mM.

This paper considers cases where a specific number of nodes in an ad hoc network broadcast video and audio streams over the entire network. For the purpose, we have proposed Load and Battery Charge oriented Flooding (LBF), which reduces degradation in delivery quality, and energy consumption, and prevents nodes from being interrupted due to the complete discharge of their batteries. This paper describes an evaluation of the proposed method through network simulation. The simulation results indicate that the proposed method can prolong network running time without degradation of delivery quality.

We report results of the study of the low-frequency noise in thin films of bismuth selenide topological insulators, which were mechanically exfoliated from bulk crystals via "graphene-like" procedures. From the resistance dependence on the film thickness, it was established that the surface conduction contributions to electron transport were dominant. It was found that the current fluctuations have the noise spectral density S1 ∞ l/f (where f is the frequency) for the frequency range up to 10 kHz. The obtained noise data are important for transport experiments with topological insulators and for any proposed device applications of these materials. © 2011 Materials Research Society.

Software product line engineering has become widely known that it provides software organization with tremendous profits through systematical reuse to a number of organizations that require producing various and similar kinds of software products. However, when adopting software product lines, it has been reported that there are several challenges, e.g., the shortage of procedural support for application engineering, and original reasons of complexity and implicit properties for variability management. In order to address these major problems, an integrated tool support is required to guide software product line engineering process. The integrated software management tool for adopting software product lines, called "ISMT4SPL" can offer beneficial traceability among the artifacts created from domain engineering and application engineering. Furthermore, all the artifacts could consistently be managed by explicit representation of the relationship between artifacts generated at each software development phase by ISMTSPL. ISMT4SPL would contribute to adopting and guiding software product lines into the organizations that demand the seamless introduction of systematic reuse since the ISMT4SPL is helpful to manage variability by delivering the method that can generate a flexible and automatic variability model, which reduces complexity for managing a number of variation points and variants. In addition, consistency between all the artifacts would reduce confusion and quality problems by removing mismatches among them.

This paper describes a context aware system that shall be able to effectively classify and store context information, and to reason out user behavior according to context information, in order to provide appropriate service. This study uses ontology to build a context model, as ontology has the ability to express abundant information. In addition, case-based reasoning is used for context reasoning, and refers to the user's historical information, the reasoning ability of the system increases and approaches the user as the number of cases increases. When the behavior of the user is known, this study uses personal ontology to express the user's habit and preferences for services, and uses personal ontology to select appropriate services, and finally, the OSGi platform provides services to meet user requirements. The field of this study is the development of an intelligent space system for common families by providing home services, such as lighting, music, air conditioning, IP-Cam, alarms, etc., the system can integrate service information and provide appropriate services for the user at the appropriate time. Fuzzy ontology is based on the concept that each index term or object is related to every other term in the ontology, via sensors of degrees, for all home devices of membership assigned to that relationship and based on fuzzy signature, as introduced by L.T. Koczy (1999).
