Dual spectral source assisted MOCVD is an ideal technique for the deposition of high dielectric constant materials as well as other electronic and optical materials. Tungsten halogen lamps and a deuterium lamp are used as the sources of optical and thermal energy. Ta2O5 films were deposited at 200°C for 30 minutes and annealed at 600°C for 30 minutes have shown leakage current densities as low as 10−10 A/ cm2 for gate voltage under 5V. To the best of our knowledge, these are the best results reported to date by other researchers. The high energy photons used in the in-situ cleaning and deposition process play an important role in obtaining high quality films of Ta2O5.

A capacitance relative humidity (RH) sensor is described that has a design, construction, and material composition that result in an inexpensive and robust sensor. This sensor has a multilayer, free-standing film construction. It consists of a humidity sensitive polyimide (PI) dielectric core and conductive layers consisting of carbon filled polysulfone on each side of the polyirnide film to form a capacitor. The polyimide used is a BPDA-ODA type, and replaces a PMDA-ODA type polyimide used in a previous version of this sensor. The BPDA-ODA sensor has a nominal capacitance of 200 pF and a nominal sensitivity of 13% at 100% RH. The characteristics of this humidity sensor are discussed and compared to the characteristics of the PMDA-ODA type sensor. Characteristics considered include the PI film moisture uptake and water vapor transmission, and the sensors’ sensitivity to relative humidity, frequency response, and aging at 85°C/85% RH. The dual-state sorption model and free volume calculations are used to demonstrate that observed differences in the film are due to differences in chemical composition between the films.

This work presents a novel scheme to simulate a paper time scale by utilizing ensemble clock data of time laboratories in the eastern Asia-Pacific region. Based on integration of the above data with a neural-fuzzy prediction approach, the time difference with a local coordinated universal time is analyzed by a reference time scale devised in this work. Validity of the proposed scheme is investigated by undertaking a 250-day long neural-fuzzy predictor that is based on the calculated clock ensembles from Asian time laboratories. In the Asia-Pacific rim region, TWSTFT links from four laboratories, including the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology of Japan (NICT), the National Time Service Center of China (NTSC), the Korea Research Institute of Standards and science of Korea (KRISS), and the telecommunication Laboratories of Taiwan (TL), have formed a time transfer network based on use of multi-channel TWSTFT time transfer modems. Thus, a paper neural-fuzzy reference time scale by using the ensemble clock data among NICT, NTSC, KRISS, and TL in the Asia-Pacific region is simulated. Moreover, the performance of the proposed time scale is evaluated.

In this paper we investigate the effect of co-channel interference on the performance of multihop transmission systems that employ amplify-and-forward (AF) relays and operate in a Rayleigh fading environment. Using an upper bound for the end-to-end signal-to-interference-and-noise ratio (SINR) which is given by the minimum SINR of all the hops, we derive closed form expressions for the outage probability and the moment generating function (MGF) of the SINR bound. The average symbol error rate of various modulation formats in multihop AF relay systems can then be obtained using the MGF-based approach, whereas closed-form expressions are obtained for the case of binary phase shift keying. The analysis considers relay systems that suffer from the presence of noise and interference as well as interference-limited and noise-limited systems. The accuracy of the analytical results is verified by computer simulation.

Hybrid SET-CMOS circuits which combine the merits of both the SET and CMOS promises to be a practical implementation for future low power ultra-dense VLSI/VLSI circuit design. In this work, an SET-CMOS hybrid pulse divider circuit is proposed. The MIB model for SET and BSIM4 model for CMOS are used. The operation of the proposed circuit is verified in Tanner environment. The performances of CMOS and Hybrid SET-CMOS based pulse divider circuits are compared. The hybrid SET-CMOS circuit is found to consume lesser power than the CMOS based circuit. Further it is established that hybrid SET-CMOS based circuit is much faster compared to CMOS based circuit.
