Environmental Disinfection Based on Mobile Intelligent Networking Highly Efficient Ultraviolet Light Machines

Since 2019, the world has suffered from the outbreak of the "Coronavirus Disease (COVID)-19 pandemic. This study used the principle of Ultraviolet (UV)-C disinfection to produce a mobile high-power UV-C sterilizer. It focused on combining intelligent control systems, human sensors, and Internet of Things (IoT) systems to carry out disinfection tasks in unmanned indoor spaces. Because of its mobile nature, the sterilizer could be moved at any time in various learning, research, and activity rooms for disinfection. In addition to manually controlling the sterilizer, a Wi-Fi or Narrowband (NB)-IoT-enabled remote control was provided to start the disinfection process. In order to prevent ultraviolet light from harming the human body, sensors were employed self-acting to detect the presence of people and turn off the ultraviolet light when people were detected in the area. At the same time, a camera on the sterilizer would capture an image and notify the relevant personnel through a LINE notification, to prevent the human body from being exposed to ultraviolet light, causing harm to the teachers and students on campus. During operation, voice broadcast reminders and a status indicator could provide information about the operation status. After disinfection, users could view the disinfection process through a mobile device application or a webpage, which would automatically notify relevant personnel of the disinfection status through a LINE notification. In this way, the disinfection progress could be updated at anytime, anywhere and the current disinfection status in the classroom could be displayed in real-time, allowing teachers and students on campus to carry out teaching and learning in a safe and secure environment. © The Author(s).

The impacts incurred by floods regularly affect the planets population, inflicting social and economic problems. Optimal control strategies based on reservoir management may aid in controlling floods and mitigating the resulting damage. To this end, an accurate dynamic representation of water systems is needed. In practice, flood control strategies rely on hydrological forecasting models obtained fromconceptual or data-drivenmethods. Encouraged by recent works, this research proposes a novel surrogate model for water flow in a river channel based on physics-informed neural networks (PINNs). This approach achieved promising results regarding the assimilation of real-data measurements and the parameter identification of differential equations that govern the underlying dynamics. This article investigates PINN performance in a simulated environment built directly from a configuration of the Saint-Venant equations. The objective is to create a suitable model with high prediction accuracy and scientifically consistent behavior for use in real-Time applications. The experiments revealed promising results for hydrological modeling and presented alternatives to solve the main challenges found in conventional methods while assisting in synthesizing real-world representations. Impact Statement-The research seeks to contribute to the hydrological modeling area with a surrogate model based on physicsinformed neural networks (PINNs) to water flow in a watershed. In practice, thesemodels use conceptual or *** models to reach the precision provided by themethodology use large numbers of physical parameters. Diagnosability is an important parameter to measure the fault tolerance of a multiprocessor system. If we only care about the state of a node, instead of doing the global diagnosis, Hsu and Tan proposed the idea of local diagnosis. Chiang and Tan provided an extended star structure to diagnose a node under comparison model. In this work, we evaluate the local diagnosability better by proposing a tree structure around this node. We provide the corresponding algorithm to diagnose the node. Simulation results are presented for different failure probability of a node in the tree and different percentage of faulty nodes in the tree, showing the performance of our algorithm. © 2024 Institute of Information science. Boost DC-DC Converter with Non-dissipative Snubber

To provide a hold-up time function in DC-DC supplies for cell site stations or data centers, using a boost converter with a bulk output capacitor as a front-end converter stage is a simple and highly cost-effective solution. However, conventional boost converters with a hard-switching operation result in low conversion efficiency and increased electromagnetic interference emissions. In this paper, a boost converter with a new non-dissipative snubber is proposed that only requires two additional diodes, an inductor, and a multilayer ceramic capacitor. The main feature of the proposed snubber is that the components are not located on the main power processing path. This means they only require low ratings, improving cost-effectiveness. A prototype converter is analyzed, realized, and applied to a 300 W redundant DC-DC power supply module for a 5G cell base station. © 2024 The Author(s). This paper proposes an alternative detection frame-work for multiple sclerosis (MS) and idiopathic acute transverse myelitis (ATM) within the 6G-enabled Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) environment. The developed framework relies on the implementation of a deep learning technique known as Dense Convolutional Networks (DenseNets) in the 6G-enabled IoMT to enhance prediction performance. To validate the performance of DenseNets, we compared it with other deep learning techniques, including Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and MobileNet, using real-world datasets. The experimental results show the high performance of DenseNets in predicting MS and ATM compared to other methods, achieving an accuracy of nearly 90 %. © 2024 IEEE.

Based on WHO's data, breast cancer is one of the most deadly diseases that has claimed many victims, especially women. This disease begins with the presence of an undetected and eventually turns into malignant (cancer). This happens due to ignorance of the importance of having a medical check-up even though in good health. Doctors and researchers can prevent the development of tumor cells through treatment that begins with radiological examinations to identify the possibility of a person being affected by this disease. One of the most frequently used techniques is Mammography. This technique can detect the presence of tumor cells using advanced technology and several methods in displaying the patient's diagnostic results on low-dose X-rays in the form of mammogram images. The technology is inseparable from the methods used to identify the presence of tumor cells. In this study, we have proposed the CNN method based on the deep-CNN model to identify mammogram images in the detection of breast cancer cells with average evaluation results in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, specificity, and f-measure on mammogram image datasets of 99.52%, 99.72%, 99.31%, 99.72%, and 99.5%. These results showed that this method has a good performance in breast cancer detection. © 2023 IEEE.

FA-FENet: A Feature Attention Front-End Network Based on a Lightweight CNN Architecture for Recognizing Abnormal Underwater Illegal Fishing Behavior

In the past decade, studies on illegal fishing have neglected to consider illegal underwater fishing. Traditionally, supervisor-based methods have been used to manually interpret underwater behavior;however, existing artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) methods are not applicable to illegal underwater fishing. Therefore, in this study, we used a computer vision AI method to perform the challenging task of illegal underwater fishing image recognition. Illegal underwater fishing images have unclear features and high feature similarity. In this study, we define normal underwater travel as wearing diving clothing. Abnormal underwater behavior includes underwater personnel with illegal fishing equipment. Herein, we propose a feature attention front-end network (FA-FENet), a novel end-to-end convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture that differs from previous methods in that it allows flexible integration with various backbone networks. The front end of the backbone network can be directly replaced to improve the learning efficiency and performance of the proposed network. The convolutional layers in our proposed FA-FENet include dilated convolutions, group convolutions, padded convolutions, pooling layers, and activation functions. We also comprehensively review the performance of the proposed FA-FENet. A series of ablation studies demonstrate that the proposed FA-FENet can be applied in shallow backbone networks. In addition, FA-FENet has potential in emerging networks with good performance in illegal underwater fishing identification tasks. Finally, we conducted experiments with an underwater fishing behavior dataset. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed method outperforms recently reported methods with attention mechanisms. Specifically, FA-FENet-RegNet achieves an accuracy of 88.81%, FA-FENet-ResNet18 reaches 78.32%, and FA-FENet-ShuffleNetV2 attains 80.41%. © 2013 IEEE.

Cleo: Smart Glasses to Monitor Consumption of Alcohol and Cigarettes

It is estimated that over 60% of people around the globe consume alcohol and cigars daily. Many people use them beyond the permitted limit, which causes lung cancer, liver and kidney failure. If there is a system that could monitor their intake level, it will alert them in case of excess consumption, which could help them control the intake. To help the users monitor their consumption, we introduce Cleo Eyeglasses in this paper. Cleo is a wearable spectacle device with a mounted camera and single onboard computer that performs custom trained object recognition to identify alcoholic beverages and cigarettes. Upon recognition, a log is automatically maintained in the corresponding mobile application. If the intake exceeds the user threshold, then our system generates an alert to both the user and concerned medical personnel. Cigarette/alcohol consumption can immediately affect the body without noticeable symptoms. Cleo addresses this with keen monitoring of vital body parameters and generates an alert when abnormalities are detected. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
