Gender and age-evolution detection based on audio forensic analysis using light deep neural network

Forensic audio analysis is a foundation stone of many crime investigations. In forensic evidence;the audio file of the human voice is analyzed to extract much information in addition to the content of the speech, such as the speaker’s identity, emotions, gender, origin, etc. The accurate determination of individuals into groups based on their age development stage and their gender are often used as early investigations to differentiate them and determine the legal rights and responsibilities associated with them. This work introduces a light CNN model with a new architecture to detect the human age-evolution being’s stage (kids or adults) at the same time the gender of the adult one (male or female) based on the individual’s voice characteristics, which offers a balance between computational efficiency and model accuracy. The temporal information in the audio file is prepared by scaled and normalized. Then this information is exploited to extract and track the unique and salient audio features that make up the pattern of the feature map for each target class through some convolutional layers followed by maxpooling layers. Finally, The decision is made based on these feature maps by some fully connected layers. Successful and promising results are accomplished in terms of accuracy and loss functions which realize 0.99 and 0.017 respectively over the riched Voxceleb2 dataset. The proposed model underscores the importance of leveraging Light DNNs for gender and age-evolution detection, offering a robust and ethically sound solution for real-world applications in the field of audio forensics such as span speaker identification, victim profiling, deception detection, and more, contributing to the advancement of audio forensic analysis. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.

The skin acts as an important barrier between the body and the external environment, playing a vital role as an organ. The application of deep learning in the medical field to solve various health problems has generated increasing interest. The objective of this research is to create a new model using a deep network with multi-feature fusion that enables accurate identification of various skin diseases. This paper proposes a fully fused network (FFN), which includes an improved single block (ISB) and an improved fusion block (IFB) to achieve optimal performance. To implement this, a convolutional neural network-based model for multi-class recognition of skin images has been developed, in which ISB is used to segment diseases in skin images. The IFB module is designed to enhance the effectiveness of the fused network. The model is built and evaluated using our proprietary dataset (Skin_disease_v1) along with publicly available datasets, namely ISIC2016, ISIC2017, and HAM10000. The highest accuracy achieved in experiments was 86% for ISB, 90% for IFB, and 92% for FFN using HAM10000 (for ResNet101V2), HAM10000 (for Resnet50 + ResNet101V2), and HAM10000 (for Resnet50 + ResNet101V2). This shows an accuracy improvement of 9.2%, 13.2%, and 15.2% compared to the state-of-the-art ISB, IFB, and FFN approaches, respectively. The scheme of water resources management is a necessity for reducing water scarcity in arid areas and improving water availability in general [1]. However, water leak detection and irrigation scheduling traditional AI models are often computationally intensive and require complex hyperparameter tuning, making them less scalable. This study presents an artificial intelligence-based optimization framework that improves forecasting accuracy, computational speed, and real-time adaptability. The architecture combines the ensemble-learning algorithms (XGBoost, LightGBM), hybrid AIs (XGBoost + Autoencoder), and metaheuristic feature selection (GA, PSO, SA) for making intelligent decisions. Moreover, ontology-based feature structuring enhances interpretability, while hyperparameter tuning (GridSearchCV, Bayesian Optimization) and model compression techniques (pruning, quantization, knowledge distillation) ensure computational efficiency. A large number of experiments on real-world IoT sensor data testify to the effectiveness of the framework. It achieves 0.992 AUC-ROC scores for leak detection, an RMSE of 0.227 hours for irrigation scheduling, and an overall accuracy of 94.8%. Additional performance measures comprise precision (89.0%), recall (95.2%), F1-score (0.92), and inference speed (0.003 ms/sample). Although quantization has reduced the computational overhead, we still see a 13.02% increase in the model size as seen in Experiment 6, leading to a trade-off that needs to be optimized further. This study offers a deployable AI-based model for sustainable water management by tackling the issues of scalability, computational cost, and limitations in benchmark evaluation. By virtue of the empirical validation and comparative analysis of the framework, it has been shown to perform better than the regular methods, proving that the methodology can act as a step forward in the field of real-time, AI-assisted irrigation and leak detection systems. © 2013 IEEE.

Gas and biosensors are crucial in the modern healthcare system, enabling non-invasive monitoring and diagnosis of various medical conditions. These sensors are used in various applications, including smart home health monitoring devices and critical care units. Common non-imaging sensor types include gas or VOC sensors, diagnostic ECG sensors, blood glucose sensors, pulse oximeters, blood pressure sensors, body temperature sensors, EEG sensors, accelerometers, and imaging sensors like X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, and ultrasounds. Healthcare-related sensors offer numerous advantages, including diagnosing and treating medical conditions, monitoring vital signs, enabling remote patient monitoring, personalized healthcare, and early detection and prevention. However, issues like data accessibility, privacy, comfort, security, and accuracy must be considered when installing sensors in homes. Efficient data sharing and analysis require devices, sensors, and platforms to communicate effectively. Real-time data processing is essential for prompt diagnosis and intervention. Enhancing patient-independent detection of freezing of gait in Parkinson’s disease with deep adversarial network

Freezing of gait (FoG) refers to sudden, relatively brief episodes of gait arrest in Parkinson’s disease, known to manifest in the advanced stages of the condition. Events of freezing are associated with tumbles, traumas, and psychological repercussions, significantly impacting the patient’s quality of life. The use of accelerometer data derived from sensors put on a patient’s body to detect FoG has previously been proposed using convolutional neural network (CNN)-based deep learning algorithms. Here, we combine a CNN + Long short-term Memory (LSTM)-attention model to detect FoG episodes—a first for the detection of FoG using the accelerometer data. CNN facilitates automatic feature extraction from the accelerometer data itself. The output from the CNN is fed to the LSTM network, which is known for capturing sequential information. Further, the attention mechanism introduces relative focus on individual sub-sequences during the training of the LSTM network. The proposed model is made patient independent using adversarial training. The proposed model achieved improvements of +7.60% (without adversarial training) and + 8.36% (with adversarial training) in the sensitivity values over state of the art. This is obtained with little or no compromise in specificity values. The corresponding improvements in accuracy values are +3.81 and +2.23%, respectively. These findings imply that the proposed method can detect FoG gaits satisfactorily and can be effective in achieving accurate monitoring and gait assistance for Parkinson’s disease patients during daily life and rehabilitation therapy. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2025.

Video forgery is one of the most serious problems affecting the credibility and reliability of video content. Therefore, detecting video forgery presents a major challenge for researchers due to the diversity of forgery types, the modernity of the programs used in forgery operations, and the abundance of information and content present in videos. The seriousness of this issue arises from the widespread use of videos in vital fields that require very high accuracy with no room for doubt or error, such as courtrooms, journalism, and others. Copy-move forgery is one of the most common and dangerous types of video forgery because of the difficulty in identifying it with the naked eye and the great diversity of forgery techniques involved in this particular type. One of the biggest challenges researchers have faced in the past is the complexity of the steps required to detect forgery in videos, leading to significant computational complexity and time consumption. The proposed method also aims to achieve better results than previous methods while reducing computational operations. Ultimately, forgery is detected with great efficiency. Compared to previous methods used for detecting copy-move forgery in the Rewind dataset, the proposed method achieves the highest F1, reaching 0.86, with a significant difference of 0.13 compared to the best result of the previous methods. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2025.

With the increase of energy consumption worldwide in several domains such as industry,education,and transportation,several technologies played an inﬂuential role in energy conservation such as the Internet of Things(IoT).In this article,we describe the design and implementation of an IoT-based energy conser-vation smart classroom system that contributes to energy conservation in the edu-cation *** proposed system not only allows the user to access and control IoT devices(e.g.,lights,projectors,and air conditions)in real-time,it also has the capability to aggregate the estimated energy consumption of an IoT device,the smart classroom,and the building based on the energy consumption and cost model that we ***,the proposed model aggregates the estimated energy cost according to the Saudi Electricity Company(SEC)***,the model aggregates in real-time the estimated energy conservation percentage and estimated money-saving percentage compared to data collected when the system wasn't *** feasibility and beneﬁts of our system have been validated on a real-world scenario which is a classroom in the college of computer science and engineering,Taibah University,Yanbu *** results of the experimental studies are promising in energy conservation and cost-saving when using our proposed system.

Secure container Orchestration: A framework for detecting and mitigating Orchestrator - level vulnerabilities

This paper presents Secure Orchestration, a novel framework meticulously planned to uphold rigorous security measures over the profound security concerns that lie within the container orchestration platforms, especially in Kubernetes. The widespread adoption of containerized environments has raised concerns about the vulnerabilities at the level of the orchestrator. Secure Orchestration delivers a comprehensive approach by leveraging cutting-edge methods to detect and prevent the exposure of vulnerabilities from orchestrator misconfigurations, privilege escalation exploits that can thwart the orchestration security layer, and unauthorized access attempts targeting the orchestration system itself. In addition, it is further strengthened by deploying an Intrusion Detection and Prevention System (IDPS), which is responsible for actively monitoring the orchestration infrastructure. The IDPS utilizes sophisticated algorithms and mechanisms for detecting anomalies to continuously assess the orchestration environment for indications of intrusion, vulnerabilities, and anomalous activities. By using this proactive approach, the framework is able to rapidly identify potential threats and respond through countermeasures in a timely manner, thus greatly reducing the risks associated with orchestrator level vulnerabilities. Conducting a set of real-world experiments that closely simulate a variety of threat scenarios is imperative for empirically validating the efficiency of this framework. The obtained empirical results yield insightful revelations on the efficacy of the framework in accurately identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities, thereby ensuring the privacy and integrity of container orchestration systems. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Stress is a problem with various adverse effects, such as mental disorders and suicide. With these problems arising, a stress detection system is needed as an initial examination of the level of stress experienced. Generally, stress detection is done with a stress test at a hospital. However, medical examinations done in the hospital require high costs. Another alternative to examine stress levels is by using a biosignal electroencephalogram (EEG), which provides more objective and accurate results. In addition, there is a need to develop a portable device that can be used to detect stress. This study tries to detect stress levels using EEG Signals. The data used in this study is primary data that simulates several stress-level activities. In total, 55 subjects participated in this stress detection research. The received signal goes through preprocessing to clean it from noise and artifacts. The data will be extracted using Power Spectral Density (PSD) into power value for each signal frequency. The preprocessed input signals are then classified into indications of stress levels. This study uses Random Forest, SVM, and Decision Tree. The model is stored on a portable system with Raspberry Pi as the main component. EEG signals are taken using electrodes on Muse 2 and sent to the system. The classification model generates predicted stress levels and is displayed on a 16×2 LCD. SVM as the best model test result achieved a testing accuracy of 1, and an average computation time of 0.92. © 2024 IEEE.
