Plants plays a major role in the life of humans. It offers food, medicines, fibers, wood, spices, perfume, oil, and paper. Besides, it minimizes soil erosion and prevents air pollution. Particularly, the piper plant is used around the world for various applications. It comprises of several species, which is useful for humans in enormous ways like medicine, food, ornaments, etc. For that reason, the classification of plants is necessary to utilize the exact plants for appropriate applications. The traditional way of plant classification are time consuming, less accurate and require skilled professionals. To resolve this, several conventional researches utilized technology like Artificial Intelligence (AI) to classify plant species but lacks in few limitations such as accuracy and speed. Therefore, the proposed system employ Positional Encoded Cross Attention Mechanism-Deep Convolutional Neural Network (PECAM-DCNN) system for the classification of all plants and piper plant species. The DCNN is used for the capability of handling larger datasets and accuracy. Though, it is the effective classifier, it still have few limitations like noise, speed and over-fitting of data. To resolve this, the respective method used Adaptable normalization with positional encoded cross attention mechanism to enhance the speed, accuracy, denoise task and prevent over fitting of data. The positional encoding in the cross attentional mechanism capture significant features at abundant scales and minimize loss in spatial resolution. Further, the efficiency of the projected system is calculated using performance metrics to evaluate the efficacy of the system. Moreover, the efficiency of the proposed model is revealed through the comparative analysis of respective system with conventional methods. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Exploring Invertible Encoding for Deep Video Compression

Deep video compression methods typically use autoencoder-style networks for encoding and decoding, which can result in the loss of information during encoding that cannot be retrieved during decoding. To address this issue, recent work has explored the use of invertible neural networks for enhanced invertible encoding, which has successfully mitigated spatial information loss for better image compression. In this paper, we propose a new approach that extends invertible encoding to temporal information and introduces an encoding-decoding network for deep video compression. Our network incorporates a novel attentive channel squeeze module to improve compression performance while also leveraging a conditional coding framework for motion compression. The entire framework is optimized via a single loss function that balances bit cost and frame quality. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach, which achieves 15.45%/57.92% bit savings in terms of PSNR/MS-SSIM compared with the high-efficiency video coding low-delay P configuration. © 2025 IEEE.

Software effort estimation using convolutional neural network and fuzzy clustering

Adopting an efficient software process model is critical for building high-quality software applications. An important factor impacting the software development process is an accurate estimate of human effort required to complete the software project. While machine learning methods were historically used to develop estimation models, there has been little investigation into the potential of deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) for improving software effort estimation. One of the biggest obstacles in using DCNN for this purpose is the common nature of software datasets, which often consist of vectorized samples rather than matrices. To defeat this obstacle and reduce vagueness in software attribute measurement, this study uses Fuzzy theory to generate an appropriate two-dimensional datapoint representation. The fuzzy clustering is commonly used to split dataset samples into separate clusters, which can help to generate Fuzzy membership functions. This approach makes it easier to generate a two-dimensional array representation for each data sample based on the membership values, allowing it to be used as input to the DCNN model. The efficiency of the proposed model was thoroughly evaluated using PROMISE benchmark datasets. The findings based on mean absolute errors and standardized accuracy show that our proposed model produced very good performance with low error rates and outperformed several current state-of-the-art effort estimation models. Nonetheless, further research is needed to determine the impact of different cluster numbers and features on the performance of our model. In conclusion, this study emphasizes the possibility for incorporating DCNN into software effort estimates and highlights the viability of utilizing fuzzy modeling and clustering techniques to enhance the data representation of software datasets. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Recent metaheuristic algorithms for medical object localization using MSER detector in computer-aided diagnosis system

Object localization is a critical task in image analysis, often facilitated by artificial intelligence techniques. While the Maximally Stable Extremal Regions (MSER) detection algorithm is a popular choice for local detection, its exhaustive approaches can be algorithmically complex and prone to suboptimal results with improper parameter selection. Various metaheuristic algorithms have been proposed for medical object localization to address this. In this context, four contributions are presented. Firstly, recent metaheuristics, including the Slime Mould Algorithm (SMA), Marine Predators Algorithm (MPA), Heap-based Optimizer (HBO), and Gradient-based Optimizer (GBO), are adapted to tackle the MSER localization problem. These algorithms are rigorously evaluated across diverse medical image datasets using multiple metrics, with their performance statistically validated through the Friedman mean rank test. The second contribution introduces a novel objective function to improve the localization process. The third contribution involves a comparative analysis of the recent algorithms against seven standard metaheuristics specifically designed for MSER localization. Lastly, we present an improved computer-aided diagnosis system that integrates an SVM-based model with Local Binary Patterns (LBP) descriptors extracted from each MSER alongside DenseNet-121 features. Experimental results demonstrate that the HBO and SMA optimizers outperform conventional algorithms, showing a higher diversity, improved exploitation and exploration capabilities, a well-balanced exploration-exploitation trade-off, elevated fitness values, faster convergence speeds, and enhanced computational efficiency. Additionally, we integrate these findings into an improved computer-aided diagnosis system, yielding classification results surpassing state-of-the-art models. Low back pain is a leading cause of disability globally, is often associated with degenerative lumbar spine conditions. Accurate diagnosis of these conditions is critical but challenging due to the subjective nature of MRI interpretation and the weak correlation between imaging findings and symptoms. Thus, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the performance of CNN-based architectures (VGG-16, EfficientNetB0, EfficientNetV2) and transformer-based architecture specifically Vision Transformers (ViT) in classifying lumbar spine conditions as normal, moderate, or severe. Using the RSNA 2024 Lumbar Spine Degenerative Classification dataset. The models are evaluated using the ROC-AUC and PRAUC as the performance metrics due to the dataset imbalance. Results indicate that EfficientNetB0 achieved the highest overall performance, with an average ROC-AUC of 0.784 and PR-AUC of 0.528, demonstrating strong adaptability to imbalanced datasets. EfficientNetV2 also performed competitively, while VGG-16 showed moderate effectiveness. The Vision Transformer (ViT), however, underperformed due to its reliance on larger datasets and challenges in capturing fine-grained spatial features. The findings highlight the potential of EfficientNet-based models for accurate and efficient lumbar spine diagnostics. This study underscores the potential of advanced deep learning approaches in improving diagnostic workflows for degenerative lumbar spine conditions. © 2025 IEEE.

Enabling high fault-tolerant embedding capability of alternating group graphs

The Hamiltonian path/cycle serves as a robust tool for transmitting messages within parallel and distributed systems. However, the prevalent device-intensive nature of these systems often leads to the occurrence of faults. Tackling the critical challenge of tolerating numerous faults when constructing Hamiltonian paths and cycles in these systems is of utmost significance. The alternating group graph AGn is a suitable interconnection network for building parallel and distributed systems due to its outstanding topological properties. Many studies have been dedicated to the fault-tolerant embedding of Hamiltonian paths and cycles in AGn, but they all fail to reach the desired level of fault-tolerance. In this paper, we aim to enhance the edge fault-tolerant embedding capability of AGn by leveraging a newly emerged fault model, called the Partitioned Edge Fault (PEF) model. We prove the existence of Hamiltonian paths/cycles tolerating large-scale edge faults in AGn under the PEF model. Additionally, we propose a fault-tolerant Hamiltonian path embedding algorithm for AGn under the PEF model and validate its effectiveness through experiments. To gauge the significance of each missed edge, we conduct experimental calculations for the average path length of every edge along the Hamiltonian path produced by the proposed embedding algorithm. Furthermore, the fault-tolerance comparison and experimental analysis reveal that our results improve the fault-tolerant embedding capability of AGn from a linear level to an exponential one. To our knowledge, this is the first time that a Hamiltonian path/cycle embedding approach is proposed and actually implemented for AGn with large-scale edge faults. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.

Drones are flying objects that may be controlled remotely or programmed to do a wide range of tasks, including aerial photography, videography, surveys, crop and animal monitoring, search and rescue missions, package delivery, and military operations. Unrestrained use, however, can pose a significant threat to safety, privacy, and security through eavesdropping, flying close to prohibited locations, interfering with public events, and delivering illicit items. Hence, real-time drone detection and tracking are indispensable and appropriate measures. This study developed real-time drone detection and tracking using the most efficient deep-learning approaches. The models were fine-tuned first to suit the required purpose and yield the desired outcome. The performance of the developed system was better than that of earlier endeavors in terms of accuracy and loss. Of the seven fined-tuned models, the Xception model constantly rendered the maximum accuracy with negligible loss. The model outperformed other state-of-the-art architectures, exhibiting an accuracy and loss of 99.18% and 3.83, respectively. Modernization and intense industrialization have led to a substantial improvement in people’s quality of life. However, the aspiration for achieving an improved quality of life results in environmental contamination. A primary consequence of environmental degradation is air pollution, resulting from rising levels of poisonous chemicals in the atmosphere, which may induce detrimental health conditions in humans. It is harmful to both humans and agriculture. Given that the effects of air pollution on plants may not be readily apparent, it is important to analyse the necessary data and compute the outcomes. Farmers prioritise on pests and plant diseases, frequently neglecting the detrimental impacts of air pollution. Some plant species can withstand high amounts of pollution from suspended particulate matter and accumulated gases, while others are more susceptible to harm. Therefore, plants’ reaction to air pollution is influenced by the kind of harmful compounds, their levels, and the plant’s susceptibility to them. The LSTM +CNN Proposed Ensemble method may be used to analyse the impact of air pollution on agriculture by examining trends in crop production over time and predicting which crop is more resistant based on the pollution data. The initiative created for this aim may assist farmers in determining the most suitable crop to cultivate in their fields to minimize the impact of air pollution on agricultural yield. The findings show deep learning algorithms correctly predict hourly pollutant concentrations such as carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, ground-level ozone, and particulate matter 2.5, along with the hourly Air Quality Index (AQI) for California. A proposed model used test RMSE values as a measure to evaluate prediction performance, achieving the best possible results. © 2025 SCPE.
