The world population relies on agricultural plants for food, and illnesses reduce yield, but proper plant disease monitoring can help to resolve such issues. computer vision and machine learning methods can detect plant illnesses early, reducing their negative consequences and overcoming the drawbacks of continual human monitoring. After pre-processing of input images, the target region needs to be isolated. The proposed models analyzes images for detection and classification to identify edges, colors, and textures. This research has agricultural applications for early disease identification. This study examined ResNet, MobileNet, DenseNet, InceptionV3 and modified CNN model on the PlantVillage dataset to classify tomato illnesses. The F1 score, accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity can evaluate models. This paper evaluates these models using a diverse collection of tomato leaf pictures, contributing to automated disease detection systems and may be helpful for improving farm management and sustainability. © 2024 IEEE.

Skin cancer is the most commonly reported type of cancer globally and one of the few cancers that can be effectively treated if detected in its early stages. Recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have significantly improved skin cancer diagnosis through Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) models. This review explores ML and DL methodologies, including Random Forest, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), Inception Networks, ResNets, and Support Vector Machines (SVMs), which have been widely used for automated diagnosis. However, existing AI-based systems face several challenges, including the need for balanced datasets, model interpretability issues, computational complexity, and difficulties in generalizing across diverse populations. Moreover, multimodal detection systems and Explainable AI (XAI) present additional challenges in making AI-driven diagnoses more reliable and transparent. This article discusses these challenges while also highlighting emerging techniques that integrate multiple data sources and individualized diagnostic tools to enhance precision. By addressing these challenges, this review aims to provide insights into the practical advancements and future directions of AI in skin cancer detection and treatment. © 2025 IEEE.

The battery energy storage system (BESS) has immense potential for enhancing grid reliability and security through its participation in the electricity market. BESS often seeks various revenue streams by taking part in multiple markets to unlock its full potential, but effective algorithms for joint-market participation under price uncertainties are insufficiently explored in the existing research. To bridge this gap, we develop a novel BESS joint bidding strategy that utilizes deep reinforcement learning (DRL) to bid in the spot and contingency frequency control ancillary services (FCAS) markets. Our approach leverages a transformer-based temporal feature extractor to effectively respond to price fluctuations in seven markets simultaneously and helps DRL learn the best BESS bidding strategy in joint-market participation. Additionally, unlike conventional 'black-box' DRL model, our approach is more interpretable and provides valuable insights into the temporal bidding behavior of BESS in the dynamic electricity market. We validate our method using realistic market prices from the Australian National Electricity Market. The results show that our strategy outperforms benchmarks, including both optimization-based and other DRL-based strategies, by substantial margins. Our findings further suggest that effective temporal-aware bidding can significantly increase profits in the spot and contingency FCAS markets compared to individual market participation. © 2023 IEEE.

In recent years, there has been a significant rise in the phenomenon of hate against women on social media platforms, particularly through the use of misogynous memes. These memes often target women with subtle and obscure cues, making their detection a challenging task for automated systems. Recently, Large Language Models (LLMs) have shown promising results in reasoning using Chain-of-Thought (CoT) prompting to generate the intermediate reasoning chains as the rationale to facilitate multimodal tasks, but often neglect cultural diversity and key aspects like emotion and contextual knowledge hidden in the visual modalities. To address this gap, we introduce a Multimodal Multi-hop CoT (M3Hop-CoT) framework for Misogynous meme identification, combining a CLIP-based classifier and a multimodal CoT module with entity-object-relationship integration. M3Hop-CoT employs a three-step multimodal prompting principle to induce emotions, target awareness, and contextual knowledge for meme analysis. Our empirical evaluation, including both qualitative and quantitative analysis, validates the efficacy of the M3HopCoT framework on the SemEval-2022 Task 5 (MAMI task) dataset, highlighting its strong performance in the macro-F1 score. Furthermore, we evaluate the model's generalizability by evaluating it on various benchmark meme datasets, offering a thorough insight into the effectiveness of our approach across different datasets. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Skin diseases are prevalent in Thailand due to the hot temperatures, humid climate, and increasing diversity of skin tones, which complicates diagnosis. Artificial intelligence (AI) has improved skin disease detection through deep learning models, aiding faster diagnoses and reducing the workload on dermatologists. However, AI models often struggle with underrepresentation of darker skin tones in training datasets, affecting performance. To address this imbalance, data augmentation techniques like generative models are recommended. This research enhances skin disease classification using StyleGAN3 for data augmentation to balance minority skin tone classes. The Fitzpatrick17k dataset focusing on Acne, Psoriasis, and Vitiligo is used. The Fitzpatrick Skin Type Scale is reduced from six to three levels due to image availability. VGG16 is applied to classify skin tone classes. Two additional datasets, the original and traditionally augmented datasets, are used for comparison against the StyleGAN3-augmented dataset. Results show that the StyleGAN3-augmented dataset achieves the best performance with F1-scores of 0.7193, 0.7446, and 0.7543 and accuracy scores of 0.7200, 0.7368, and 0.7419 for Acne, Psoriasis, and Vitiligo respectively. The obtained results demonstrate that utilizing the StyleGAN3-augmented dataset for skin disease classification in minority skin tone classes yields the highest performance, with F1-scores increasing by 19.25%, 19.77%, and 25.94 % for Acne, Psoriasis, and Vitiligo, respectively. These findings highlight the effectiveness of StyleGAN3 in improving model performance for underrepresented skin tones in skin disease classification. © 2024 IEEE.

Location-based services (LBS) have accumulated extensive human mobility data on diverse behaviors through check-in sequences. These sequences offer valuable insights into users' intentions and preferences. Yet, existing models analyzing check-in sequences fail to consider the semantics contained in these sequences, which closely reflect human visiting intentions and travel preferences, leading to an incomplete comprehension. Drawing inspiration from the exceptional semantic understanding and contextual information processing capabilities of large language models (LLMs) across various domains, we present Mobility-LLM, a novel framework that leverages LLMs to analyze check-in sequences for multiple tasks. Since LLMs cannot directly interpret check-ins, we reprogram these sequences to help LLMs comprehensively understand the semantics of human visiting intentions and travel preferences. Specifically, we introduce a visiting intention memory network (VIMN) to capture the visiting intentions at each record, along with a shared pool of human travel preference prompts (HTPP) to guide the LLM in understanding users' travel preferences. These components enhance the model's ability to extract and leverage semantic information from human mobility data effectively. Extensive experiments on four benchmark datasets and three downstream tasks demonstrate that our approach significantly outperforms existing models, underscoring the effectiveness of Mobility-LLM in advancing our understanding of human mobility data within LBS contexts. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. The financial markets are inherently volatile, and investors constantly seek ways to mitigate risks while maximizing returns. This work aims to develop a stop-loss hedging strategy for a portfolio of stocks listed on the National Stock Exchange (Nse) to minimize losses and maximize returns. This strategy utilizes real-time market data to adjust stop-load levels dynamically by predicting future stock. This will protect against market downwards. We used long short-term memory (LSTM) neural networks to predict the next stock value. This AI-driven model allows the system to predict the next stock by using real-time market data and adjust the stoploss level accordingly. In addition, this system integrates a hedging strategy. It determines whether to hedge based on the predicted stock price compared to the current price. If the predicted price is less than the current price a hedging strategy like short selling or buying put option is suggested. This automated solution is useful for retail investors. This strategy will protect against losses and returns maximum profits. When the market is upside the stoploss position also increases and will make maximum profits. If the market is downward it will protest from losses by putting a stoploss level and it will return minimum losses. Here we use different algorithms in the work like decision tree, random forest, LSTM, and SVM. Based on the all algorithms we got the highest accuracy for the decision tree and the accuracy is 99.54%. © 2025 IEEE.

Medical image segmentation is crucial for diagnosis and treatment planning. While recent advancements in deep learning, particularly UNet variants, have improved segmentation performance, they often result in increased model complexity, which limits their real-time applicability on resource-constrained devices in clinical settings. To address this challenge, we present the Tiny Efficient U-Net (TE-UNet), a novel lightweight model balancing efficiency and accuracy. TE-UNet uses a U-shaped encoder-decoder framework with a gated linear attention mechanism to process low-level and high-level features, preserving details and reducing complexity. It employs depth-wise separable convolutions for higher-level processing, enhancing efficiency without losing performance. Additionally, skip connections improve multi-scale feature extraction and information flow. Experiments on two public datasets across different modalities demonstrate that TE-UNet outperforms ten state-of-the-art methods, maintaining a parameter size under 40KB and low computational cost. TE-UNet makes real-time segmentation more accessible for various clinical applications. © 2024 IEEE.

Understanding the structural growth of paediatric brains is a key step in the identification of various neuro-developmental disorders. However, our knowledge is limited by many factors, including the lack of automated image analysis tools, especially in Low and Middle Income Countries from the lack of high field MR images available. Low-field systems are being increasingly explored in these countries, and, therefore, there is a need to develop automated image analysis tools for these images. In this work, as a preliminary step, we consider two tasks: 1) automated quality assurance and 2) hippocampal segmentation, where we compare multiple approaches. For the automated quality assurance task a DenseNet combined with appearance-based transformations for synthesising artefacts produced the best performance, with a weighted accuracy of 82.3%, thus ranking in the 1st place in the LISA2024 Challenge. For the segmentation task, registration of an average atlas performed the best, with a final Dice score of 0.61. Our results show that although the images can provide understanding of large scale pathologies and gross scale anatomical development, there still remain barriers for their use for more granular analyses. © The Author(s) 2025.
