With the rise of web-based job sites, job-seeking has undergone a significant transformation, making it easier to find suitable opportunities. This study proposes a solution using machine learning and natural language processing to enhance job recommendations. The dataset used is free from prior user interactions, ensuring fairness in the system's recommendations. The system combines collaborative and content-based filtering methods to develop candidate recommendation algorithms. Its performance is evaluated using precision, recall, and F1 score metrics. This approach helps job seekers streamline their job search, saving time and effort. Additionally, improving the chances of finding a job that closely matches their qualifications, increases their likelihood of success in the highly competitive job market. © 2024 IEEE.

Autonomous Robot Navigation in unknown and dynamic environments is considered one of the grand challenges in robotics. These motions that guide it span from rescue operations to planetary exploration. Classical methods for path planning, including A*, Dijkstra, and RRT, were unable to balance the efficiency and adaptability of motion planning over complex terrain. This may have a powerful solution using Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) with advanced machine learning techniques to improve the ability of robotic navigation. This study proposes a GAN-based approach for designing an effective self-adaptive path planning and obstacle avoidance system for autonomous robots. Despite performing well in structured environments, traditional techniques normally fail in analysing the unstructured terrains with real-time adjustments and dynamic changes due to the high computational costs and lack of flexibility involved. In this regard, the proposed GAN-based system resolves these issues by rating navigation paths concerning safety and efficiency. Quantitative analysis demonstrates that within a forest, desert, urban, or off-road environment, the computational times by using the developed strategy turn out to be 0.12 seconds, 0.10 seconds, 0.14 seconds, and 0.13 seconds, respectively, behaving much lower than what can be achieved with other algorithms. This approach proves much superior in terms of computational efficiency path smoothness and adaptability under different environmental conditions in applications related to autonomous robot navigation systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Ensuring the safe navigation of autonomous vehicles in intelligent transportation system depends on their ability to detect pedestrians and vehicles. While transformer-based models for object detection have shown remarkable advancements, accurately identifying pedestrians and vehicles in adverse weather conditions remains a challenging task. Adverse weather introduces image quality degradation, leading to issues such as low contrast, reduced visibility, blurred edges, false detection, misdetection of tiny objects, and other impediments that further complicate the accuracy of detection. This paper introduces a novel Pedestrian and Vehicle Detection Model under adverse weather conditions, denoted as PVDM-YOLOv8l. In our proposed model, we first incorporate the Swin-Transformer method, which is designed for global extraction of feature of small objects to identify in poor visibility, into the YOLOv8l backbone structure. To enhance detection accuracy and address the impact of inaccurate features on recognition performance, CBAM is integrated between the neck and head networks of YOLOv8l, aiming to gather crucial information and obtain essential data. Finally, we adopted the loss function Wise-IOU v3. This function was implemented to mitigate the adverse effects of low-quality instances by minimizing negative gradients. Additionally, we enhanced and augmented the DAWN dataset and created a custom dataset, named DAWN2024, to cater to the specific requirements of our study. To verify the superiority of PVDM-YOLOV8l, its performance was compared against several commonly used object detectors, including YOLOv3, YOLOv3-tiny, YOLOv3-spp, YOLOv5, YOLOv6, and all the versions of YOLOv8 (n, m, s, l, and x) and some traditional models. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed model achieved a 6.6%, 5.4%, 6%, and 5.1% improvement in precision, recall, F1-score and mean Average Precision (mAP) on the custom DAWN2024 dataset. Driver distraction has become a major concern for road safety as distracted driving is a leading cause of car accidents, resulting in a large number of injuries and fatalities every year. This project aims to address the issue of driver distraction as a leading cause of traffic accidents worldwide. Utilizing various image datasets, the project explores the use of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), specifically the DarkNet53 model, to classify whether drivers are focused on the road or distracted. A collection of publicly available datasets and a new dataset consisting of 4024 images produced by the authors were used in training the model, with image augmentation being used to significantly enhance the model performance. The training and testing processes were conducted using MATLAB and different techniques such as transfer learning and layer freezing were utilized to improve the training process. The real-time performance of the DarkNet53 model was also evaluated against other models and it was shown that the DarkNet53 had adequate performance while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Furthermore, the model misclassifications were evaluated using confusion matrices and different statistics such as the F1 score were reported. The study concludes with a recommendation for further development of datasets to train more accurate models without sacrificing real-time performance. The datasets should be generalized, including different lighting conditions and camera angles. © 2023 IEEE.

Effective and efficient cyber incident handling is crucial for maintaining the security of information systems and organizational data. This research aims to develop a priority-based cyber incident handling method by adopting the NIST 2.0 framework and utilizing machine learning classification algorithms. This method enables organizations to quickly and accurately identify and respond to incidents based on threat levels and impact, focusing resources on the most critical incidents. The research employs the Support Vector Machine (SVM) classification algorithm to determine incident priorities. The study is still developing for handling cyber incidents, followed by testing and evaluating the system prototype within organizations. Initial results indicate that the priority-based approach using the SVM classification algorithm achieves a True Positive (TP) Rate of 0.999 and a False Positive (FP) Rate of 0.008, with a correlation of 98.88%, resulting in excellent performance in identifying positive cases and a low error rate. © 2024 IEEE.

Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) is an aggressive blood cancer that affects white blood cells;early and accurate diagnosis is essential for the institution of proper treatment. Traditional methods of leukemia diagnosis, through manual investigation of blood smears, are time-consuming and prone to human error, hence there is a need for more robust automated solutions for diagnosis. This study presents a novel hybrid deep learning model by combining the Xception and ResNet50 models in endeavoring to address the challenges of feature extraction and classification accuracy in microscopic blood smear images. Using convolutional neural networks with some optimized preprocessing, such as image cropping, normalization, and augmentation of data, this study presents a model that can achieve very exceptional diagnostic performance in classifying cancer, at an accuracy of 99.99% on the Kaggle ALL dataset, outperforming other models like ResNet34 and GoogLeNet. Exhaustive testing shows strong generalization with minimal loss and low overfitting, which demonstrates the robustness of the model and its efficiency in picking up subtle patterns at a cell-specific level. This research highlights the transformative potential of hybrid deep learning models in clinical diagnostics for more accurate diagnosis, efficiency, and integration into clinical workflows of early Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) detection for the benefit of patient outcomes and the advancement of research on automated leukemia diagnostics. © 2024 IEEE.

In the era of expanding wireless sensor network (WSN) applications, safeguarding these networks against a spectrum of threats, including Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks, is paramount. The innate resource limitations of sensor nodes often render conventional security measures ineffective. This study introduces a pioneering approach integrating minimalist machine learning techniques to combat DoS attacks within WSNs. Our methodology adeptly leverages machine learning capabilities while strategically curbing computational and resource demands. By distilling essential features from network traffic patterns, our model adeptly identifies aberrations signaling DoS attacks, all while preserving the efficiency of resource-limited sensor nodes. Its minimalist framework seamlessly integrates with existing WSN architectures, negating the need for substantial hardware upgrades and maintaining network performance. Results underscore the superior detection accuracy and efficiency of our minimalist machine learning strategy compared to traditional methods. Moreover, its scalability and adaptability render it ideal for deployment across varied WSN setups, fortifying them against DoS threats while safeguarding core network *** mitigating DoS attack impacts without burdening computational resources, our approach marks a significant stride towards bolstering the security and dependability of wireless sensor networks amid evolving threat landscapes. © 2024 IEEE.

A supervised ranking model, despite its effectiveness over traditional approaches, usually involves complex processing - typically multiple stages of task-specific pre-training and fine-tuning. This has motivated researchers to explore simpler pipelines leveraging large language models (LLMs) that can work in a zero-shot manner. However, since zero-shot inference does not make use of a training set of pairs of queries and their relevant documents, its performance is mostly worse than that of supervised models, which are trained on such example pairs. Motivated by the existing findings that training examples generally improve zero-shot performance, in our work, we explore if this also applies to ranking models. More specifically, given a query and a pair of documents, the preference prediction task is improved by augmenting examples of preferences for similar queries from a training set. Our proposed pairwise few-shot ranker demonstrates consistent improvements over the zero-shot baseline on both in-domain (TREC DL) and out-domain (BEIR subset) retrieval benchmarks. Our method also achieves a close performance to that of a supervised model without requiring any complex training pipeline. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

With the rapid growth of the number of processors in a multiprocessor system, faulty processors occur in it with a probability that rises quickly. The probability of a subsystem with an appropriate size being fault-free in a definite time interval is a significant and practical measure of the reliability for a multiprocessor system, which characterizes the functionality of a multiprocessor system well. Motivated by the study of subgraph reliability, as well as the attractive structure and fault tolerance properties of (n, k)-arrangement graph A n, k, we focus on the subgraph reliability for A n, k under the probabilistic fault model in this article. First, we investigate intersections of no more than four subgraphs in A n, k, and classify all the intersecting modes. Second, we focus on the probability P(q, A n, k n-1, k-1) with which at least one (n-1, k-1)-subarrangement graph is fault-free in A n, k, when given a uniform probability q with which a single vertex is fault-free, and we establish the P(q, A n, kn-1, k-1) by adopting the principle of inclusion-exclusion under the probabilistic fault model. Finally, we study the probabilistic fault model involving a nonuniform probability with which a single vertex is fault-free, and we prove that the P(q, A n, kn-1, k-1) under both models is very close to the asymptotic value by both theoretical arguments and experimental results. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

The growing advancement of different jobs, skills and businesses has stimulated the spread of diseases. Most of the time, these diseases can cross countries’ borders and spread at a very rapid rate. Avoiding and detecting these infections have proved to be a major problem for our public health and one that must be treated with great importance. Crop disease has haunted, farmers have been victimized for several decades, and a remedy must be offered to halt this damage. As a result, a system should be developed to detect plant disease. Untreated plant diseases ultimately result in a loss to the farmer. Traditional methods of detecting plant disease have become less efficient and inaccurate;thus there is need to improve on the techniques of plant disease detection, as a reliable detection of plant diseases will greatly improve the quality of food crops produced and decrease the threat plant diseases pose to food security. Therefore, this study is aimed at analyzing comparatively, two machine learning language techniques convolutional neural network (CNN) and support vector machine (SVM) in terms of their respective accuracy in detecting plant diseases through their leaves in which both algorithms are used for the automatic diagnosis of plant disease. From the experimental test conducted on various plants using CNN and SVM algorithms, CNN had an accuracy of 98%, while SVM had an accuracy of 62% on various plant leaves used. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.
