Secure smart home architecture for ambient-assisted living using a multimedia Internet of Things based system in smart cities

Recent advances in smartphones and remote monitoring based on the Internet of Things (IoT) have enabled improved multidimensional intelligent services. The advent of IoT-based wearable and multimedia sensors has prevented millions of mishaps through seamless and systematic monitoring. An IoT-based monitoring system is composed of several sensor devices to measure vital signs, fall detection, energy consumption, and visual recognition. As the data collected by the sensors are transmitted to cloud storage through the Internet, data security is a major concern when transmitting data from remote locations. To improve data security and prediction accuracy, in this study, we proposed a smart and secure multimedia IoT monitoring system for smart homes backed up by smart grid supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA). The proposed system employs state-of-the-art IoT microcontrollers and hardware devices and integrates them in a manner that significantly affects the accuracy and speed of the entire system. Furthermore, the information gathered from IoT is securely transferred through private channels and stored on the cloud, which can be accessed authentically and reliably using an information system built into an IoT application. The output was extensively compared in terms of power consumption and delivery ratio, which were based on the values collected with sequence numbers. The comparative analysis demonstrated that the proposed approach provides increased prediction accuracy and better security. Hence, the proposed power-efficient prototype model monitors the entire smart home environment in real time and serves as an early warning system for critical situations. © 2024 the Author(s).

By analyzing data gathered through Online Learning(OL)systems,data mining can be used to unearth hidden relationships between topics and trends in student ***,in this paper,we show how data mining techniques such as clustering and association rule algorithms can be used on historical data to develop a unique recommendation system *** our implementation,we utilize historical data to generate association rules specifically for student test marks below a threshold of 60%.By focusing on marks below this threshold,we aim to identify and establish associations based on the patterns of weakness observed in the past ***,we leverage K-means clustering to provide instructors with visual representations of the generated *** strategy aids instructors in better comprehending the information and associations produced by the *** clustering helps visualize and organize the data in a way that makes it easier for instructors to analyze and gain insights,enabling them to support the verification of the relationship between *** can be a useful tool to deliver better feedback to students as well as provide better insights to instructors when developing their *** paper further shows a prototype implementation of the above-mentioned concepts to gain opinions and insights about the usability and viability of the proposed system.

Water is a vital *** supports a multitude of industries,civilizations,and ***,climatic conditions impact water availability,particularly in desert areas where the temperature is high,and rain is ***,it is crucial to forecast water demand to provide it to sectors either on regular or emergency *** study aims to develop an accurate model to forecast daily water demand under the impact of climatic *** forecasting is known as a multivariate time series because it uses both the historical data of water demand and climatic conditions to forecast the *** on the collected data of Jeddah city,Saudi Arabia in the period between 2004 and 2018,we develop a hybrid approach that uses Artificial Neural Networks(ANN)for forecasting and Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm(PSO)for tuning ANNs’*** on the Root Mean Square Error(RMSE)metric,results show that the(PSO-ANN)is an accurate model for multivariate time series ***,the first day is the most difficult day for prediction(highest error rate),while the second day is the easiest to predict(lowest error rate).Finally,correlation analysis shows that the dew point is the most climatic factor affecting water demand.

A Deep Learning based Ultra-Lightweight Architecture for Atrial Fibrillation Detection Using Single-Lead ECG Recordings

In this paper, we have proposed a novel deep-learning model to process electrocardiogram (ECG) signals from single-lead ECG device. This is achieved by using a hybrid of CNN (convolutional neural network) and LSTM (long short-term memory) neural netwrok, where CNN extracts localized features from ECG signals, while the LSTM network extract temporal relationships. Moreover, a filtering-based method is proposed to generate synthetic data to overcome the data imbalance posed by the publicly available PhysioNet/CinC Challenge 2017 dataset. Specifically, three distinct ECG filters: Neurokit, BioSPPy, and EngZeeMod are used to perform data augmentation. As depicted by the simulation results, the proposed model exhibits superior performance with an F1 score of 99.56% providing a gain of 102.25 dB in terms of model size and performance gain of 1.06% outperforming existing state-of-the-art method enabling cost-effective real-time diagnosis with an inference time of 0.48×10-3 secs. Atrial fibrillation (A-Fib), a common cardiac arrhythmia, is linked to serious complications like heart failure and stroke, which early diagnosis could prevent. However, its paroxysmal and often asymptomatic nature complicates detection. In this paper, we propose a novel deep-learning model for single-lead ECG signal analysis, combining a convolutional neural network (CNN) to extract localized features and a long short-term memory (LSTM) network to capture temporal dependencies. To address data imbalance in the PhysioNet/CinC Challenge 2017 dataset, we employ a filtering-based approach with Neurokit, BioSPPy, and EngZeeMod for synthetic data generation. Simulation results show the model achieves a 99.56% F1 score, a 102.25 dB gain in efficiency, a 1.06% performance gain over the state-of-the-art method, and real-time diagnosis with a 0.48×10-3 second inference time. These simulation results confirm the superior performance of the proposed model. © 2013 IEEE.

The innovative city network integrates numerous computational and physical components to develop real-time systems. These systems can capture sensor data and distribute it to end stations. Most solutions have been presented based on the centralized computing paradigm, which effectively and systematically increases data flow;however, distributed wireless technologies and heterogeneous network services continue to raise significant research problems. These challenges lower the optimization criteria and reflect communication structure around the network edges. In this research, we proposed a sustainable development for smart networks using efficient big data management with collaborative decisions for network devices. It differs from most existing work in the mentioned aspect. It applies computational lightweight intelligence for forwarding collected data using mobile collectors and reduces the congestion flow between devices on the limited bandwidth of wireless links. Moreover, the energy load is efficiently managed with edge-driven methods, and the incorporation of trusted devices ensures the integrity of the smart network. It also tackles potential communication threats smartly. Based on the experiments conducted in Network Simulator (NS-3), the proposed model enhances the efficacy of smart networks for performance metrics with reliability and effective management of resources in Internet of Things (IoT) network. © 2025 IEEE.
