Recently, generative foundation models have significantly advanced large-scale text-driven natural image generation and have become a prominent research trend across various vertical domains. However, in the remote sensing field, there is still a lack of research on large-scale text-to-image (text2image) generation technology. Existing remote sensing image-text datasets are small in scale and confined to specific geographic areas and scene types. Besides, existing text2image methods have struggled to achieve global-scale, multi-resolution controllable, and unbounded image generation. To address these challenges, this paper presents two key contributions: the Git-10M dataset and the Text2Earth foundation model. Git-10M is a global-scale image-text dataset comprising 10.5 million image-text pairs, 5 times larger than the previous largest one. The dataset contains essential resolution information and covers a wide range of geographic scenes and contains essential geospatial metadata, significantly surpassing existing datasets in both size and diversity. Building on Git-10M, we propose Text2Earth, a 1.3 billion parameter generative foundation model based on the diffusion framework to model global-scale remote sensing scenes. Text2Earth integrates a resolution guidance mechanism, enabling users to specify image resolutions. A dynamic condition adaptation strategy is proposed for training and inference to improve image generation quality. Text2Earth not only excels in zero-shot text2image generation but also demonstrates robust generalization and flexibility across multiple tasks, including unbounded scene construction, image editing, and cross-modal image generation. This robust capability surpasses previous models restricted to the basic fixed size and limited scene types. The National Research Data Infrastructure for Catalysis-Related Sciences (NFDI4Cat) is one of the disciplinary consortia formed within the German national research data infrastructure (NFDI), an effort undertaken by the German federal and state governments to advance the digitalization of all scientific research data within the German academic system in accordance with the FAIR principles. This work reports on initial outcomes from the NFDI4Cat project. The data value chain in catalysis research is analysed, and architecture and interoperability requirements are identified by conducting user interviews, collecting competency questions, and exploring the landscape of semantic artefacts. Methods from agile software development are employed to collect, organize, and present the collected requirements;workflows are annotated on the basis of metadata standards for research data provenance, by which requirements for domain ontologies in catalysis are deduced. © 2022, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This paper presents a self-consistent and multiphysics discharge model to analyze the characteristics of the electric discharge generated in a current-switching system. Switching discharge is numerically analyzed by a simplified one-dimensional model using the finite element method. Several simulations with different external resistances were performed to analyze the effect of the external circuit parameter on electric discharge. © 2019 IEEE.

ABSTRACTObjectiveThis study investigates whether and how perceived training value varies among fighter pilots participating in a large force exercise (LFE), and whether they expect Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) training to enhance training value of future *** technology is maturing but its expected training value is under-investigated, especially regarding future LVC in *** pilots at a Live-flying LFE answered questionnaires, 120 responses were analyzed statistically. The questions focused on whether the sortie they just flew provided training value, generally and for specific Desired Learning Objectives (DLOs), on whether the inclusion of Virtual and Constructive entities in future LFEs would contribute to training value generally and to the DLOs specifically, and on specific LVC implementation *** of experienced training value varied across DLOs, and DLO ratings varied across Mission types. Fighter pilots were positive toward including Virtual and Constructive entities in LFEs for certain DLOs, mostly for flying a complex mission. DLOs covaried around the factors of LVC-tradeoff advantages and Live advantages, as well as temporal dimensions of planning before a mission and stages of engagement. LVC implementation lessons were *** pilots are generally moderately positive about LVC in LFEs. The measurement of perceived training value per DLO seems a relevant instrument for investigating perceived training value of an LFE and expected training value of future LVC training.

This work demonstrates a centrifugal microfluidic chip design for painless blood collection and hematocrit measurement. The fluid channel in the microfluidic chip was fabricated using a laser-cutting method. An optimal dimension of the negative pressure chamber was designed to control the maximum sample volume obtained for further hematocrit examination. The estimated blood sample of 20 µl could be obtained based on the negative pressure driven by finger press actuation on the negative pressure chamber of the microfluidic chip. The repeatability of blood volume collection evaluated by a laboratory technician was 21.126±0.001 µl with a coefficient of variation (CV) of 5.32%. The sample volume used in this centrifugal microfluidic chip was around three times lower than that used in the standard method. Pack red cell preparation for hematocrit examination in the microfluidic chip could be achieved using a centrifugation speed around 2.4 times lower than that used in the standard method. The hematocrit examination by our centrifugal microfluidic chip and the standard method was 41.75±0.77 (1.84 %CV), and 41.5±0.71 (1.7 %CV), respectively. The results showed that the hematocrit measurements in our centrifugal microfluidic chip were compatible with those measured by the standard method.

In this paper, the formation problem of unknown multi-quadrotor systems with underactuation and nonlinearities is addressed. A formation controller including a position controller and an attitude controller is designed. The designed formation controller is based on hierarchical scheme and reinforcement learning method is used to learn the control weights of the formation controller. A simulation of formation of multiple quadrotor systems shows the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

Program debugging is a time-consuming task, and researchers have proposed different kinds of automatic fault localization techniques to mitigate the burden of manual debugging. Among these techniques, two popular families are spectrum-based fault localization (SBFL) and statistical debugging (SD), both localizing faults by collecting statistical information at runtime. Though the ideas are similar, the two families have been developed independently and their combinations have not been systematically explored. In this paper we perform a systematical empirical study on the combination of SBFL and SD. We first build a unified model of the two techniques, and systematically explore four types of variations, different predicates, different risk evaluation formulas, different granularities of data collection, and different methods of combining suspicious scores. Our study leads to several findings. First, most of the effectiveness of the combined approach contributed by a simple type of predicates: branch conditions. Second, the risk evaluation formulas of SBFL significantly outperform that of SD. Third, fine-grained data collection significantly outperforms coarse-grained data collection with a little extra execution overhead. Fourth, a linear combination of SBFL and SD predicates outperforms both individual approaches. According to our empirical study, we propose a new fault localization approach, PREDFL (Predicate-based Fault Localization), with the best configuration for each dimension under the unified model. Then, we explore its complementarity to existing techniques by integrating PREDFL with a state-of-the-art fault localization framework. The experimental results show that PREDFL can further improve the effectiveness of state-of-the-art fault localization techniques. More concretely, integrating PREDFL results in an up to 20.8% improvement w.r.t the faults successfully located at Top-1, which reveals that PREDFL complements existing techniques.

The Open Databases Integration for Materials design (OPTIMADE) application programming interface (API) empowers users with holistic access to a growing federation of databases, enhancing the accessibility and discoverability of materials and chemical data. Since the first release of the OPTIMADE specification (v1.0), the API has undergone significant development, leading to the v1.2 release, and has underpinned multiple scientific studies. In this work, we highlight the latest features of the API format, accompanying software tools, and provide an update on the implementation of OPTIMADE in contributing materials databases. We end by providing several use cases that demonstrate the utility of the OPTIMADE API in materials research that continue to drive its ongoing development. © 2024, CC BY.

To evaluate the operational benefits of ADS-B based surveillance, a China Airspace Capability Model (CACM) is defined to measure the flight separation with safety constraint. The CACM represents airspace constraints by imposing in trail separation on dense routes and output delay metrics enable the user to quantify the impacts of changes. We use Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) system to estimate the delay savings associated with ADS-B equipage in two scenarios, one with 15 minutes in trail procedure used in current Air Traffic Center (ATC) and one with 5 minutes in trail which ADS-B supported procedure. The initial data comes from CAAC central and southern region flights of 2010. With ADS-B equipage scenario, we select ADS-B to use for airborne separation assurance application and utilize CACM to calculate minimum airborne safety separation. We simulate the complex interplay of the air traffic system, which provides a timeframe to study the interactions among the different ATM participants as they interact over the course of an entire day. After all data processing, the affected data are recorded and computed based on CACM model. In this way, we quantify the relationship between surveillance system performance and flight delay that reflect on benefit directly. The preliminary result shows that the deployment of ADS-B surveillance would reduce annual operational delay in the China airspace. simulations show significant reductions in operational delay attributed to the ADS-B. The largest reduction in delay was recorded by the ATFM where 35 percent of the average delay savings were realized. © 2018 IEEE.
