Investigating the Impact of Hyper Parameters on Intrusion Detection system Using Deep Learning Based Data Augmentation

The effects of changing learning rates, data augmentation percentage and numbers of epochs on the performance of Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Networks with Gradient Penalties (WGAN-GP) are evaluated in this study. The purpose of this research is to find out how they affect the data augmentation to enhance stability during training. In this research, the degree of system performance is measured using the Classification Model Utility approach. For this reason, this study aims to determine the interaction between learning rate, augmentation percentage and epoch value when using WGAN-GP to generate synthetic data for the recognition of the system performance. The results will provide the indications on how some of the hyper parameters can be adjusted up or down for having positive or negative consequences on the generation process for further research and use of WGAN-GP. It also provides insights into how the generative model is trained, and how that affects stability and quality of the result in various settings such as image synthesis or other generative tasks. © (2025), (Science and Information Organization). ViT-SENet-Tom: machine learning-based novel hybrid squeeze–excitation network and vision transformer framework for tomato fruits classification

Tomatoes are essential fruits in numerous nations for their vast demand. It is very important to maintain the freshness of tomatoes. One of the primary challenges in the recent culinary landscape is accurately identifying healthy tomatoes while effectively eliminating damaged or rejected ones. Existing approaches employ various strategies for categorizing tomato fruit, but they often suffer from inaccuracies, slow detection, and suboptimal performance. Thus, motivated by this gap, in this paper, we propose a novel machine learning (ML) framework, ViT-SENet-Tom, which is a hybrid vision transformer (ViT) model with squeeze and excitation (SENet) block network for fast, accurate, and efficient tomato fruit classification. The framework works on three tomato classes, respectively, the ripe, unripe, and reject. In developing the proposed model, we utilized advanced and newly designed layers and functions. This integration created a more complex and sophisticated neural network, significantly enhancing efficiency and contributing to the model’s novelty. Our chosen dataset was small initially, but we implemented augmentation techniques to increase its size. This approach made our system more reliable, efficient, and effective. The hybrid ViT-SENet framework employs encoders and self-attention networks with squeeze and excitation channel functions to allow precise, robust, fast, and efficient tomato classification. In simulation, the framework achieves a training accuracy of 99.87% and validation accuracy of 93.87%, indicating the precise classification of tomatoes. Besides, this work tests accuracy using fivefold cross-validation. The highest accuracy seen at fold-5 is 99.90%. These testing results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed framework in real-deployment scenarios. The implementation has the potential to provide enhanced and more sustainable food security and safety in future. © The Author(s) 2025.

A Fully LTPS-TFT-Based Bi-Directional Biomedical Interface Circuit for Large-Area Healthcare Applications

This paper proposed a fully LTPS-TFT-based bi-directional biomedical pixel interface with integrated a high linearity stimulator and a high-performance bio-potential sensing front-end circuit to amplify and digitize biological signals for high robustness data transmission. All circuits are designed and manufactured under a 3-μm LTPS process. We demonstrated the experiment in saline using the stimulator circuit to simulate stimulation inside the organism, achieving stimulation with different average currents under different duty cycles. The proposed front-end circuit has a gain of 40 dB. The referred input voltage noise of the entire signal chain is 86.2 μV/√Hz, and the ENOB is 9.13 bits at an input of 0.5 mVPP. Simultaneously conducting statistical testing on 20 chips has achieved a 1.05 dB SNDR standard deviation. Finally, we use a function signal generator to simulate the input signals of ECoG, ECG, and EOG, then use front-end circuits to read and reconstruct them to demonstrate that the proposed pixel interface can correctly read common biomedical signals for healthcare applications. © 2022 IEEE.

Water resource management and disaster response have become some of the most challenging tasks, especially when disasters pose a threat, as delays could lead to more impacts. The centralized system used for water dynamics and disaster control usually presents itself as a scalability problem since more clients present a problem, the system's latency is high, and the system is always prone to a single-point failure. The previous approach lacks flexibility and does not synchronously guarantee the integration of several subjects in real time, especially during unpredictable disaster conditions. The proposed FL-MAPPO model surpasses current methods by facilitating decentralized, privacy-protecting decision-making minimizing latency and single-point failures. In contrast to LSTM, Bi-LSTM, and DRNN, which are based on centralized data processing, FL-MAPPO provides real-time adaptability and effective resource management. Experimental results validate that it has lower MSE, higher R² scores, and quicker response times, making it better suited for flood prediction and disaster response. To this end, this study advances a solution through a Decentralized Learning-Driven Multi-Agent Autonomous system (DL-MAAS). The new feature is a Decentralized Cooperation environment in which intelligent and self-managing agents learn utilizing Reinforcement Learning (RL) and Federated Learning (FL) algorithms for enhancing smart water management and real-time disaster relief. IoT devices are adopted for sensing and data acquisition, adaptive learning for decision-making, and optimization of energy use among the agents in the system through metaheuristic algorithms. The research methodology for implementing the proposed solution involves the design of a multi-layered architecture, including data acquisition, decentralized learning, and real-time execution. With a Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 0.112, R-squared (R²) of 0.953, and Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of 0.207, the proposed method is better

Different techniques have been developed for object detection and recognition. These techniques can be divided into single-shot and two-shot methods. Single-shot methods focus on real-time applications, while two-shot methods are used in applications requiring higher accuracy. However, different versions of the two-shot techniques produce limited results in terms of accuracy and speed, or both. Therefore, this study proposes a novel model called dynamic generative R-CNN (DGR-CNN) that reduces the number of proposed regions using a dynamic programming model that applies the graph similarity method over graph-based image segmentation. Additionally, the proposed model employs DCGAN technique to improve detection performance. DGR-CNN reduces the overall detection and classification time and enhances the detection accuracy. The PASCAL VOC2007 and MS COCO datasets were utilized to evaluate the model. The results showed that DGR-CNN significantly reduces the number of candidate regions compared to the selective search algorithm employed in R-CNN and fast R-CNN. Although fast R-CNN utilizes 2000 regions and faster R-CNN utilizes 300 regions, DGR-CNN reduces the number of regions to approximately 130. The mean average precision of the proposed method was 75.1% on the PASCAL VOC2007, while fast and faster R-CNN scored 66.9% and 69.9%, respectively. Moreover, the DGR-CNN model significantly improved the classification accuracy when tested on the MS COCO dataset, achieving an MAP of 68.76%, compared with 32.64% and 42.3% for fast and faster R-CNN. This increase in accuracy was achieved without significantly compromising the speed compared with faster R-CNN. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2025.

The AC-DC Energy Nodes (ADENs) concept offers a transformative approach to modernizing power grids, particularly in the context of supergrids. By centralizing power flows from diverse renewable energy sources, such as offshore wind farms, ADENs enable efficient long-distance power transmission through HVDC technology. This design enhances the balance of supply and demand across regions and countries, significantly improving grid stability and resilience. However, the implementation of ADENs presents substantial technical, regulatory, and cybersecurity challenges. Integrated Framework of Multisource Data Fusion for Outage Location in Looped Distribution systems

Accurate outage location is essential for expediting post-outage power restoration, minimizing outage duration, and enhancing the resilience of distribution networks. With the advent of advanced metering infrastructure, data-driven outage location methods have significantly advanced beyond traditional approaches that rely on manual inspections. However, existing methods still face critical challenges, like reliance on single-source data, limited ability to handle partially observable systems or difficulties with loop networks. To the best of our knowledge, no single approach has comprehensively addressed all of these challenges at once. To this end, this paper proposes a comprehensive multisource data fusion framework for outage locations via probabilistic graph networks. The framework consists of three key phases. First, a novel method for reconstituting distribution networks with loops is developed, transforming looped networks into multiple radial subnetworks that retain all outage causalities of the original network. Second, Bayesian network (BN) models are established for each subnetwork, integrating multiple data sources and network structures. Finally, a joint Gibbs sampling mechanism, featuring forward and backward information flow, is designed to merge data from separate BN models and maximize the utilization of limited evidence, ensuring accurate outage location identification. The framework was validated on two modified public test systems, and comparative studies confirmed its effectiveness. © 2010-2012 IEEE.

Optimizing therapy and rehabilitation for Parkinson's disease (PD) requires early identification and precise evaluation of the illness's course. However, there is disagreement about the best way to use gait analysis to categorize the severity of motor symptoms and identify early-stage Parkinson's disease. The precision of machine learning (ML) models in identifying early and intermediate stages of Parkinson's disease was assessed in this study. Six ML models are used in this study for the prediction of PD. Different metrics are used to evaluate ML models such as accuracy, precision, recall, f1-score, and AUC score. Then we propose a multi-criteria decision-making methodology (MCDM) to evaluate the ML models and select the best one. Two MCDM methods are used such as CRITIC method to compute the criteria weights and the TOPSIS method to rank the alternatives. These methods are used under the bipolar neutrosophic sets (BNSs) to deal with uncertainty information. The results show the support vector machine is the best ML model for the prediction of PD. © 2025, University of New Mexico. All rights reserved.
