A child is the utmost innocent and vulnerable human being. Yet, children fall easy target to many types of violence, all over the place and each single day. Globally, one billion children face certain form of emotional, physical or sexual crimes each single year. To prevent and address crimes against children, a multifaceted approach combining law enforcement, healthcare workers, educators, researchers and social service providers is necessary. Modern technology and advanced tools are widely in use for criminal investigations from crime data. Although crime data set solely comprises the number of crimes reported in each state for various years, clustering can still be used to group states in India according to the crime cases against children. In this paper, we apply Expectation-Maximization (EM) cluster methodology in WEKA platform to find patterns and trends in child crime rate data and cluster states in India based on crime cases against children which may help to create efficient interventions to stop and deal with crimes against children. © 2023 IEEE.

One of the problems faced by engineering and science students is focusing solely on technical knowledge while needing more cultural context. In today's interconnected world, addressing global challenges necessitates collaborative efforts from individuals across nations. Accordingly, a joint course between Chulalongkorn University in Thailand and the Tokyo Institute of technology in Japan has been established. The recent theme of the course, 'Gamification towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),' aimed to foster global citizenship and address SDGs through multicultural collaboration. This study examines the similarities and differences in problem identification between Thai and Japanese student groups participating in the course. Data was collected from discussions, presentations, and group assignments throughout the course. The findings indicate that while both groups share common concerns, such as waste management, language barriers, and transportation issues, their perspectives and proposed solutions are influenced by cultural characteristics. Thai students emphasized infrastructural inadequacies and local traditions, whereas Japanese students focused on efficiency and the impacts of tourism. The study highlights the importance of understanding cultural nuances in collaborative international projects to achieve effective and innovative solutions to global challenges. © 2024 IEEE.

Learning disabilties are frequently overlooked while treating various limitations. The primary causes for such a dropout might be a lack of awareness of the risks and access to adequate medical care. Because Learning Disabilities are neurological illnesses, their etiology is unknown. Learning Disabilities do not have a therapy or a cure. Dyslexia, Dysgraphia and Dyscalculia are the most common types of Learning Dis-abilities among school children. There are numerous approaches for diagnosing and treating this ailment available today. The optimal method is to make use of a mobile application. Existing applications either do not adequately handle the problem or have minor limitations in terms of meeting genuine expectations. We can mitigate this dysfunction by utilizing mobile and simulation-based technologies. Furthermore, earlier research has not given contact and curiosity among children a significant emphasis and children have not interacted with robots. Therefore, this paper, introduces interactive and collaborative mobile appli-cation called 'Helply' with a robotic based simulation that may foster learning and help children improve and encour-age Color identification skills, Reading skills and Short-term memory skills the learning process while reducing their other dyslexic disorders. Also, NAO Robot is used to taking inputs as voice clip using voice recognition technology and images using image processing technology which embedded in NAO robot. We constructed three models for three distinct disorders and obtained accurate findings. CNN model for colour disorder had a training accuracy of 93%, FFNN model for short-term memory disorder had a training accuracy of 98%, and CNN model for reading disorder had a training accuracy of 94%. © 2022 IEEE.

Federated Learning enables collaboratively model training among a number of distributed devices with the coordination of a centralized server, where each device alternatively performs local gradient computation and communication to the server. FL suffers from significant performance degradation due to the excessive communication delay between the server and devices, especially when the network bandwidth of these devices is limited, which is common in edge environments. Existing methods overlap the gradient computation and communication to hide the communication latency to accelerate the FL training. However, the overlapping can also lead to an inevitable gap between the local model in each device and the global model in the server that seriously restricts the convergence rate of learning process. To address this problem, we propose a new overlapping method for FL, AOCC-FL, which aligns the local model with the global model via calibrated compensation such that the communication delay can be hidden without deteriorating the convergence performance. Theoretically, we prove that AOCC-FL admits the same convergence rate as the non-overlapping method. On both simulated and testbed experiments, we show that AOCC-FL achieves a comparable convergence rate relative to the non-overlapping method while outperforming the state-of-the-art overlapping methods. © 2023 IEEE.

Automatic Repeat Request Design in AoI-Aware Broadcast With Heterogeneous Direct and Relay-Assisted Users

This paper investigates the design of automatic repeat request (ARQ) protocols in age of information (AoI)-aware broadcast systems with heterogeneous users, including both direct and relay-assisted users. In this setup, a direct user receives status updates directly via a single-hop link, while a relay-assisted user can receive status updates through either a direct single-hop link or a two-hop relay-assisted link. While ARQ is commonly used to ensure reliable transmission in error-prone wireless networks, previous studies suggest that ARQ does not improve the average AoI in single-hop networks. However, its impact on AoI in systems with relays, particularly those involving heterogeneous users, remains unclear. We address this gap by analyzing the average AoI under different ARQ strategies, introducing a transmission limit k ≥ 0 at the relay. Here, k = 0, k = 1, and k > 1 correspond to non-relay, non-ARQ-at-relay, and truncated-ARQ-at-relay strategies, respectively. Utilizing a unified Markov chain framework that models the transmission processes for each user type, we derive the theoretical average AoI. Our results show that the direct user benefits most from non-relay and non-ARQ strategies, similar to single-hop systems. In contrast, the relay-assisted user achieves optimal performance with truncated-ARQ-at-relay, leveraging both direct and relay-assisted links. For the overall system, applying a non-ARQ-at-relay approach strikes a balance in AoI between the direct and relay-assisted users, leading to a more stable and lower system-wide average AoI. © 2014 IEEE.

In this paper,we present a novel adaptive performance control approach for strict-feedback nonparametric systems with unknown time-varying control coefficients,which mainly includes the following ***,by introducing several key transformation functions and selecting the initial value of the time-varying scaling function,the symmetric prescribed performance with global and semi-global properties can be handled uniformly,without the need for control ***,to handle the problem of unknown time-varying control coefficient with an unknown sign,we propose an enhanced Nussbaum function(ENF)bearing some unique properties and characteristics,with which the complex stability analysis based on specific Nussbaum functions as commonly used is no longer ***,by utilizing the core-function information technique,the nonparametric uncertainties in the system are gracefully handled so that no approximator is ***,simulation results verify the effectiveness and benefits of the approach.

As Artificial Intelligence (AI) becomes more deeply embedded in educational settings, it is crucial to explore how it can enhance—rather than replace—the role of educators. This workshop focuses on advancing AI-driven tools that support personalized learning and designing AI systems capable of understanding students’ emotional and cognitive needs. The workshop will explore two main themes: (1) empowering teachers with AI technologies for delivering customized feedback and individualized instruction, and (2) examining ethical and practical considerations for developing empathetic AI that complements the human aspects of teaching. Participants will discuss opportunities and challenges in building effective AI-augmented learning environments, considering ethical concerns such as privacy, equity, and the maintenance of human agency. The workshop aims to unite educators, researchers, and technologists in developing innovative solutions and fostering interdisciplinary dialogue. Histopathological examination of tissue slides is considered the gold standard for clinical cancer diagnosis. However, it heavily relies on pathologists' subjective judgment and involves substantial workload. Existing convolutional neural network (CNN)-based whole slide image (WSI) diagnostic methods suffer from high annotation costs and complex data acquisition processes. Therefore, this study proposes a weakly supervised multiple instance learning method based on self-supervised contrastive learning (CL-MIL) for WSI classification. By integrating self-supervised contrastive learning strategies, leveraging data augmentation through H&E stain separation, and introducing causal intervention via backdoor adjustment to mitigate dataset bias, our approach significantly enhances feature representation and classification performance in pathological images. Experimental results on the Camelyon16 and TCGA lung cancer datasets demonstrate that our method outperforms other comparable WSI classification models across various evaluation metrics, achieving higher diagnostic efficiency and accuracy. Additionally, our method exhibits good interpretability, enabling precise localization of pathological regions and providing robust technical support for clinical applications. © 2024 IEEE.

With the ever-expanding ubiquity of the Internet, wireless networks have permeated every facet of modern life, escalating concerns surrounding network security for users. Consequently, the demand for a robust Intrusion Detection system (IDS) has surged. The IDS serves as a critical bastion within the security framework, a significance further magnified in wireless networks where intrusions may stem from the deluge of sensor data. This influx of data, however, inevitably taxes the efficiency and computational speed of IDS. To address these limitations, numerous strategies for enhancing IDS performance have been posited by researchers. This paper introduces a novel feature selection method grounded in Support Vector Machine (SVM) and harnessing the innovative modified Aquila Optimizer (mAO) for Intrusion Detection systems in Wireless Sensor Networks. To evaluate the efficacy of our approach, we employed the KDD'99 dataset for testing and benchmarking against established methods. Multiple performance metrics, including accuracy, detection rate, false alarm rate, feature count, and execution time, were utilized for assessment. Our comparative analysis reveals the superiority of the proposed method, with standout results in terms of feature reduction, detection accuracy, and false alarm mitigation, yielding significant improvements of 11%, 98.76%, and 0.02%, respectively. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2023.
