This paper presented for the purpose of study and estimates the fundamental electromagnetic properties of the bundle of single-walled carbon nanotubes with circular geometrical structure. The bundle of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) dipole antenna will be employed for this purpose by using Drude method at THz frequency range. The armchair-single-walled carbon nanotube (armchair- SWCNTs) will be utilized in this work, Due to their metallic conducting properties, in order to configure the bundle of SWCNTs. The bundle that will be investigated in the current work is filled by identical SWCNTs having the same radius and same length. The radiation pattern, s11 parameters and antenna directivity of bundle SWCNTs dipole antenna are presented in this paper. Based on the performance evaluation presented in this paper, the bundle of SWCNT dipole antenna is a good candidate for the nano-antenna application instead of SWCNT dipole antenna. Also, the problem that associated with SWCNT dipole antenna can be reduced by the bundle. All results in this work explained that the bundle of SWCNTs can be used to design bundle of SWCNTs dipole antenna in a wide THz frequency band. The performance of this dipole antenna will be evaluated by using computer Simulation Technology (Microwave studio) CST (MWS), which presents and analyses the key parameters of the antenna.

Multi-user spatial sensing diversity exploration through cooperation spectrum sensing greatly improves sensing performance. However, high communication overhead and energy costs for exchanging sensing results may limit its viability in a realistic large scale resource constraint network such as cognitive radio wireless sensor networks. This paper presents a Weighted Hard Combination (WHC) scheme that combines features of both quantized and hard combining schemes to minimize energy cost for reporting sensing result and improve primary user detection performance in cooperative sensing. We evaluate the effectiveness of the scheme through simulation. Performance comparison of the WHC scheme in terms of detection performance, reporting energy cost and reporting time ratio with conventional hard combination, soft combination and quantized schemes indicates viability of the scheme. The results indicate that the WHC scheme minimizes reporting energy cost by 70% and improves detection performance by 5.6% compared to the quantized 3-bits scheme.

In the field of wireless industrial automation networks (WIANs), the WirelessHART and ISA100.11a protocols are promoted, which support time division and carrier-sensing multiple access schemes, channel hopping schemes, and mesh network topology to improve reliability and scalability. However, they work on the 2.4-GHz non-licensed industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) frequency band. This band has become crowded in industrial applications, i.e., ZigBee, Blue-tooth and wireless local area networks (WLAN), which has led to coexistence issues. Here, we investigated experimentally the data link layer packet loss rate of WirelessHART and ISA100.11a protocols coexisting with IEEE 802.15.4 and IEEE 802.11n-based WLAN interference systems. The experimental testbed comprised WirelessHART, ISA100.11a, ZigBee, and IEEE 802.11n-based WLAN systems. During the test, either the WirelessHART or the ISA100.11a served as the system under test and the other systems were used for wireless interferences. WirelessHART and ISA100.11a field devices were developed to set up WirelessHART and ISA100.11a networks systems. All the systems were distributed in a wide and real industrial environment with metal structures and industrial equipment generating interference. Finally, a series of experiments was performed. The experimental results and analysis provide useful information on coexistence issues for system designers and standard developers of WIANs.

Plasma Instability of 2D Electrons in a Field Effect Transistor with a Partly Gated Channel

We predict the instability of plasma waves excited by a DC current in the field-effect transistors (FETs) with a partly gated channel. The excitation of plasma waves is due to amplified reflection from the boundary of the gated and ungated regions. The boundary also supports the turbulent edge modes whose increment strongly depends on the ratio of the carrier densities in the two FET regions.

Transmitting a packet through two node-disjoint paths can improve the end-to-end reliability. The Parallel Redundancy Transmission (PRT) method in Multi-Channel Multi-Radio Wireless Mesh Networks (MCMR-WMN) is studied in this paper. In this method, a packet is simply duplicated in the first mesh router it arrives, then the two copies are transmitted through two node-disjoint parallel paths to the destination. The destination node only receives the earlier arrived one. We focus on the analysis of average end-to-end delays of Poisson ows. The analysis bases on the queueing network theory. And the packet loss rates on links are considered. The numerical results demonstrate the accuracy of the end-to-end delay analysis. © 2014 Binary Information Press

The Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA) is a novel bio-inspired optimization algorithm that mimics the real life processes of the flower pollination. In this paper, we review the applications of the Single Flower Pollination Algorithm (SFPA), Multi-objective Flower Pollination Algorithm an extension of the SFPA and the Hybrid of FPA with other bio-inspired algorithms. The review has shown that there is still a room for the extension of the FPA to Binary FPA. The review presented in this paper can inspire researchers in the bio-inspired algorithms research community to further improve the effectiveness of the PFA as well as to apply the algorithm in other domains for solving real life, complex and nonlinear optimization problems in engineering and industry. Further research and open questions were highlighted in the paper.

This study examined the effects of electromyographic (EMG) signals from Biceps Brachii (BB) muscle on the root mean square (RMS)-time relationships during dynamic contraction. Ten healthy and right hand dominated male subjects were volunteered for the experiments. The RMS features were extracted from the corresponding EMG signals (amplitude of the full wave EMG) for 10 seconds in 5 minutes intervals between each trial. Ten seconds (or 10000 ms) were divided into 4 time lags to identify the muscle activity and relationship between EMG and time using different statistical analysing techniques, such as mean, regression analysis, correlation, ANOVA, and coefficient of variation (CoV) for muscle activity variation. The results shows that large positive linear association between EMG and endurance time where the points are close to the linear trend line (R squared = 0.93 and F-ratio = 453.1). Signal steadiness is better during last time lags (1.66% during 7501-10000 ms) compared to initial time duration (10.35% during 0-2500 ms).

This paper presents the process of Quranic Accent Automatic Identification. Recent feature extraction technique that is used for Quranic verse rule identification/Tajweed include Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) which prone to additive noise and may reduce the classification result. Therefore, to improve the performance of MFCC with addition of Spectral Centroid features and is proposed for used in feature extraction of Quranic accents. Through implementing the Spectral Centroid Feature, it complements in improving the accuracy result of identifying the Quranic accents. The pattern classification algorithm here used the dimensional reduced technique from Probabilistic Principal Component Analysis (PPCA) on the features and Gaussian Mixture Model, in purpose to model the effectiveness of both combination of feature extraction. The accuracy of automatic identification for such Quranic Accents are found increasing from 96.9% to 100% with the application of SCF. © 2014 IEEE.
