Intravenous (IV) therapy has been included as an integral part of nurse's professional practice. Although it is an effective curing technique, it has some complications. Air embolism is one of such complications which may cause death of patients in some cases. In this paper, we have proposed an efficient, economic and reliable air embolism protecting system to save precious lives in case of air bubble insertion. The proposed system monitors the IV tube and when an air bubble even in fraction of millimeter gets introduced into the tube, detects it, indicates emergency and blocks the fluid flow to protect entrance of the air bubble into the human body. The proposed system has been evaluated on various IV solutions;results are very promising as the accuracy is more than or equal to 99% in every case thus supporting the implementation of the solution. Therefore, the system can be used for any type of IV solution.

Robust and efficient vision systems are essential in such a way to support different kinds of autonomous robotic behaviors linked to the capability to interact with the surrounding environment, without relying on any a priori knowledge. Within space missions, above all those involving rovers that have to explore planetary surfaces, vision can play a key role in the improvement of autonomous navigation functionalities: besides obstacle avoidance and hazard detection along the traveling, vision can in fact provide accurate motion estimation in order to constantly monitor all paths executed by the rover. Video piracy has become an increasing problem particularly with the proliferation of media sharing through the advancement of internet services and various storage technologies. Thus, research in copyright protection mechanisms, where one of which includes digital watermarking has been receiving an increasing interest from scientists especially in designing a seamless algorithm for effective implementation. Basically digital watermarking involves embedding secret symbols known as watermarks within video data which can be used later for copyright detection purposes. This paper presents the state of the art in video watermarking techniques. It provides a critical review on various available techniques. In addition, it addresses the main key performance indicators which include robustness, speed, capacity, fidelity, imperceptibility and computational complexity.

In this paper, a model to support optimal decisions in a network of microgrids is formalized as an original discrete and centralized problem defined here as cooperative network of smart power grids problem. The control variables are the instantaneous flows of power in the network of microgrids, which can be obtained from the solution of a linear quadratic Gaussian (LQG) problem on a fixed time horizon. The state is represented by the energy stored in each microgrid. The goal is to minimize the variations of the energy stored in each storage device from a reference value, as well as to minimize the exchange of power between the microgrids. An application of the model is proposed taking into account wind and solar data in three sites in Liguria region (Castellari, Capo Vado and Savona). It is assumed that each microgrid is composed by a renewable hybrid energy system, a cluster of 100 households and a storage device.

In this paper, an optimization model of Green Hydrogen Refuelling Station (GHRS) is presented. The GHRS is powered completely by a wind farm to satisfy predefined hydrogen fuel and electrical energy demands. The model based on a mathematical programming is developed to control both energy and hydrogen flows exchanged among the system components. The optimization model has been applied on one week basis to a case study in the province of Savona, Italy. Optimal results are reported taking into account the presence of an additional hydrogen industrial market and a connection with the electrical network.
