This study conducts a bibliometric analysis of Natural Language Processing (NLP) within Human-computer Interaction (HCI) to identify trends, challenges, and future directions. Analyzing 1,710 SCOPUS-indexed documents (1983-2024) using a PRISMA flowchart, the results show that the United States and China are leading contributors. Key developments include emotion recognition, chatbot interfaces, and speech processing, highlighting NLP's role in user-centered technologies. Despite growing applications, challenges such as reliability and ethical concerns persist. This analysis emphasizes the need for ethical frameworks and technological advancements to address deployment issues and align NLP innovations with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By mapping global research trends, this study provides insights into the transformative potential of NLP in HCI for developing inclusive and responsive systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Handwritten character recognition systems are used in every field of life nowadays,including shopping malls,banks,educational institutes,*** is the national language of Pakistan,and it is the fourth spoken language in the ***,it is still challenging to recognize Urdu handwritten characters owing to their cursive *** paper presents a Convolutional Neural networks(CNN)model to recognize Urdu handwritten alphabet recognition(UHAR)offline and online *** research contributes an Urdu handwritten dataset(aka UHDS)to empower future works in this *** offline systems,optical readers are used for extracting the alphabets,while diagonal-based extraction methods are implemented in online ***,our research tackled the issue concerning the lack of comprehensive and standard Urdu alphabet datasets to empower research activities in the area of Urdu text *** this end,we collected 1000 handwritten samples for each alphabet and a total of 38000 samples from 12 to 25 age groups to train our CNN model using online and offline ***,we carried out detailed experiments for character recognition,as detailed in the *** proposed CNN model outperformed as compared to previously published approaches.

The symbiotic interaction between people and computers in the realm of software development is experiencing a fundamental transition, spurred by improvements in Natural Language Processing (NLP). This study investigates how natural language processing (NLP) is changing the software development process by facilitating better human-machine collaboration throughout the coding phase. Data collection, NLP model creation, and assessment are all part of the rigorous process used in our work, which yields important results. The possibility for improving code quality and efficiency while also democratizing code production is discussed in the context of a fictional situation. Ethical concerns are also highlighted, along with the need to minimize bias in NLP-driven code production. To the benefit of developers, organizations, and society at large, this study not only adds empirical insights but also imagines a future in which software development is more inclusive, efficient, and morally responsible. From improved natural language processing models to real-time feedback loops and multimodal techniques, the future of this transforming discipline promises to further influence the landscape of software development. © 2024 IEEE.

Accurate and timely prediction of crop growth is of great significance to ensure crop yields, and researchers have developed several crop models for the prediction of crop growth. However, there are large differences between the simulation results obtained by the crop models and the actual results;thus, in this article, we proposed to combine the simulation results with the collected crop data for data assimilation so that the accuracy of prediction will be improved. In this article, an EnKF-LSTM data assimilation method for various crops is proposed by combining an ensemble Kalman filter and long short-term memory (LSTM) neural network, which effectively avoids the overfitting problem of the existing data assimilation methods and eliminates the uncertainty of the measured data. The verification of the proposed EnKF-LSTM method and the comparison of the proposed method with other data assimilation methods were performed using datasets collected by sensor equipment deployed on a farm. © 2024 IEEE.

Speech emotion recognition(SER)is an important research problem in human-computer interaction *** representation and extraction of features are significant challenges in SER *** the promising results of recent studies,they generally do not leverage progressive fusion techniques for effective feature representation and increasing receptive *** mitigate this problem,this article proposes DeepCNN,which is a fusion of spectral and temporal features of emotional speech by parallelising convolutional neural networks(CNNs)and a convolution layer-based *** parallel CNNs are applied to extract the spectral features(2D-CNN)and temporal features(1D-CNN)representations.A 2D-convolution layer-based transformer module extracts spectro-temporal features and concatenates them with features from parallel *** learnt low-level concatenated features are then applied to a deep framework of convolutional blocks,which retrieves high-level feature representation and subsequently categorises the emotional states using an attention gated recurrent unit and classification *** fusion technique results in a deeper hierarchical feature representation at a lower computational cost while simultaneously expanding the filter depth and reducing the feature *** Berlin Database of Emotional Speech(EMO-BD)and Interactive Emotional Dyadic Motion Capture(IEMOCAP)datasets are used in experiments to recognise distinct speech *** efficient spectral and temporal feature representation,the proposed SER model achieves 94.2%accuracy for different emotions on the EMO-BD and 81.1%accuracy on the IEMOCAP dataset *** proposed SER system,DeepCNN,outperforms the baseline SER systems in terms of emotion recognition accuracy on the EMO-BD and IEMOCAP datasets.
