Fundamental Limits of Multiple-Access Integrated Sensing and Communication systems

A state-dependent discrete memoryless multiple access channel is considered to model an integrated sensing and communication system, where two transmitters wish to convey messages to a receiver while simultaneously estimating the state parameter sequences through echo signals. In particular, the sensing state parameters are assumed to be correlated with the channel state. In this setup, improved inner and outer bounds for capacity-distortion region are derived. The inner bound is based on an achievable scheme that combines message cooperation and joint compression of past transmitted codewords and echo signals at each transmitter, resulting in unified cooperative communication and sensing. The outer bound is based on the ideas of dependence balance for communication rate, genie-aided state estimator and rate-limited constraints on sensing distortion. The proposed inner and outer bounds are proved to improve the state-of-the-art bounds. Finally, numerical examples are provided to demonstrate that our new inner and outer bounds strictly improve the existing results. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

In this effort, by consuming the k-symbol calculus, we generalize the Hdid-Luchko function (the Mittag-Leffler function of several variables). Some inequalities are established containing the normalized type of this function. In addition, we illustrate a list of conditions on the function to recognize some special geometric properties in a unit ball. Our theory is based on the differential subordination of several variables. © 2023 IEEE.

Deaf or hard of hearing person number roughly 466 million people globally. Individuals in this situation must interact with people, gain new skills, and participate in activities. They use sign language to communicate with the rest of the world. The development of an autonomous system to detect gesture language has various difficulties, particularly for Arabic sign language. We built models for Arabic Sign Language to accomplish this. We used the Arabic Alphabets Sign Language (ArSL) Dataset, which contains 32 categories of sign characters, A total of 40 people of various ages participated in these Arabic sign and letter classes. There are 506 images in each category, for a total of 506 ∗ 32 = 16192 images. 80 percent of the dataset was used for training, while 20 percent was used for testing. The results of the proposed system were 100 percent accurate. © 2022 IEEE.

One of the most critical features of the Internet of Things (IoT) is that it allows a massive number of devices to communicate with each other at the same time, for example (cars, smoke alarms, watches, glasses, web cameras, etc.). Given that they can connect to the Internet, the huge demand to convert systems into smart systems that can be controlled remotely increases the chances of cyber-attacks that threaten security and availability becoming more frequent, severe, and in a different form. Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks have become the most common threats in IoT. These attacks make IoT systems unreliable because complex DDoS attacks cannot be detected by traditional security countermeasures such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems (IDS). In this research, we proposed a model dedicated to work on prediction and detection of DDoS attacks on networks IoT, where we run this model on a NF-BoT-IoT-v2 dataset, which contains 37,763,497 records divided into five categories (Benign, Reconnaissance, DDoS, DoS, and Theft), and then we process our dataset to be more business friendly so it only has two categories (100,000 records broken down into 23,906 benign attacks and 76,094 DDoS attacks). This study used WEKA and MATLAB tools to perform the classification efficiently and find the most important features through feature selection. We used a decision tree (J48) machine learning classifier, a Naive Bayes (NB) classifier, and a random forest (RF) classifier. Real-time social interactions and multi-streaming are two critical features of live streaming services. In this paper, we formulate a new fundamental service query, Social-aware Diverse and Preferred Organization Query (SDSQ), that jointly selects a set of diverse and preferred live streaming channels and a group of socially tight viewers for organization of a live multi-streaming soiree. We prove that SDSQ is NP-hard and inapproximable within any factor, and design SDSSel, a 2-approximation algorithm with a guaranteed error bound. Moreover, we study SDSQ-T, a special case of SDSQ, where the social graph is a threshold graph, and propose TDSSel, a 2-approximation algorithm without any error to SDSQ-T. We propose two pruning strategies, PCP and CDP to boost SDSSel and TDSSel. We further propose a more challenging but practical service query, Generalized Social-aware Maximum Preferred and Diverse Query (GSPQ), a generalization of SDSQ. We design GPDSel, a 4-approximation algorithm for GSPQ with a guaranteed error bound. We propose a strategy to improve the approximation ratios of the proposed algorithms. A user study on Twitch validates SDSQ, and the large-scale experiments on real datasets demonstrate the superiority of the proposed algorithms over several baselines for live-streaming services. © 2008-2012 IEEE.

Privacy and security issues concerning mobile devices have substantial consequences for individuals, groups, governments, and businesses. The Android operating system bolsters smartphone data protection by imposing restrictions on app behavior. Nevertheless, attackers conduct systematic resource analyses and divert privacy-sensitive information from plain view. They employ evasive mechanisms to evade system monitoring and create an illusion of benign and non-sensitive communication. Furthermore, covert channels amplify the impact of these malicious activities by facilitating information transfer through non-standard methods. The purpose of this research is to shed light on these novel threats targeting Android systems. The study delves into security and privacy attacks that compromise sensitive user information. The methodology leverages evasion concepts and employs sound-specific covert channel communication, particularly ultrasonic channels. This research work introduces novel evasive attacks, namely Prime-Composite Evasive Information Invasion (PCEII) and File-lock-based Evasive Information Invasion (FEII), both relying on covert channel communication. These unique variants of attacks successfully evade user data within a few milliseconds for both noisy as well as non-noisy environments and do not show any signs of detection by antivirus mechanisms like Anti-Virus Guard (AVG), 360 security, etc. and state-of-the-art tools such as TaintDroid, MockDroid and others. The paper not only assesses their impact on the privacy and security of information but also introduces avenues for their detection and mitigation. © 2023 The Authors

Event-driven bi-fidelity control for efficient and reliable robotic manipulation

This paper proposes a novel bi-fidelity control framework for robotic manipulators that integrates a high-fidelity model predictive control (MPC) scheme with a low-fidelity Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) neural network surrogate. Unlike conventional fixed-schedule approaches, our method employs an event-triggered mechanism that dynamically selects the appropriate controller based on a real-time error metric. This mechanism ensures that the computationally intensive MPC is invoked only when the LSTM approximation deviates beyond acceptable bounds. We rigorously established the near-optimal performance and closed-loop stability of our approach via Lyapunov analysis under mild assumptions, instilling confidence in its reliability. The simulation results on a three-arm manipulator, subject to low-frequency sinusoidal and high-frequency chirp trajectories, demonstrate that the proposed approach achieves up to 80–90% reduction in MPC calls, significantly improving the accuracy of the follow-up and computational efficiency. These findings highlight the potential of integrating learning-based approximations with conventional optimization-based control to achieve reliable and time-efficient performance in complex robotic manipulation tasks. © 2025 The Authors
