On the Walsh spectrum of a family of quadratic APN functions with five terms

Recently,a family of quadratic APN functions was demonstrated by Bracken et *** exist over F22k with k even and 3 *** family of APN functions was firstly proposed by Budaghyan et *** they exist provided the existence of a quadratic polynomial of the type x2s+1+cx2s+c2k x+1 with no zeros in *** et *** such polynomials when k is even and 3 *** this paper,we show that such polynomials exist for all even integers *** a result,the APN functions over F22k exist for all even ***,the Walsh spectra of these APN functions is shown to be the same as the one of the Gold APN *** gives a positive answer to one conjecture.

Camera parameters estimation and evaluation in active vision system

Active vision system requires accurate camera intrinsic and extrinsic parameters for its sensor scheduling. The recovery of these camera parameters is an inverse problem in this case. We argue that the ability to cope with noises in input data is vital for the camera calibration method since solving the inverse problem is very sensitive to the noises. Random Sample Consensus (RANSAC) technique which makes no assumption about the distribution of the noises is used to obtain stable and accurate results. Perfect assessment rules for the camera calibration in the active vision system are suggested. These rules not only test the 2D-3D mapping relation but also measure the precision of the individual camera parameters. Experiments with real data and a comparison among several camera calibration approaches are included.

Enhancing Acceptance of Automated Vehicles Through Gamification: Insights from a Driving Simulator Study

Automated vehicles hold great potential to revolutionize transportation, but subjective user acceptance remains a major obstacle to their widespread adoption and the realization of anticipated safety benefits. Recognizing this challenge, this study explores the role of gamification in enhancing user acceptance of automated vehicles and promoting safer driver engagement. By designing a gamified interaction framework and implementing it in a driving simulator experiment, the research addresses three core questions: Does gamification work? Why does it work? How can it be effectively implemented? In the experiment, participants experienced automated driving scenarios with integrated gamified interactions during overtaking tasks. Data on users' attitudes, behaviors, and eye movements were collected and analyzed through qualitative and quantitative methods. Furthermore, the study incorporated design research techniques, including interviews and user journey mapping, into the scientific framework to derive meaningful and actionable insights. The results reveal that gamification significantly improves user acceptance by enhancing Perceived Ease of Use and strengthening Behavioral Intentions. At a deeper mechanistic level, gamification enhances users' situational awareness and trust by increasing their perception efficiency during interactions and raising their risk tolerance, thereby shifting the balance between safety and reward. Based on these mechanisms and further findings, the study proposes three design strategies to maximize the benefits of gamification: designing system transparency, tailoring experiences to individual user characteristics, and leveraging incentive mechanisms to engage and motivate users effectively. This study's findings provide theoretical foundations and practical design directions for leveraging gamification to enhance human-vehicle interactions, utimately contributing to the development of safer and more efficient automated driving systems. © 2

Automatic Collecting Representative Logo Images from the Internet

With the explosive growth of commercial Iogos, high quality logo images are needed for training logo detection or recognition systems, especially for famous Iogos or new commercial brands. This paper focuses on automatic collecting representative logo images from the internet without any human labeling or seed images. We propose multiple dictionary invariant sparse coding to solve this problem. This work can automatically provide prototypes, representative images, or weak labeled training images for logo detection, logo recognition, trademark infringement detection, brand protection, and ad-targeting. The experiment results show that our method increases the mean average precision for 25 types of Iogos to 80.07% whereas the original search engine results only have 32% representative logo images. The top images collected by our method are accurate and reliable enough for practical applications in the future.

AI-optimized electrochemical aptasensors are transforming diagnostic testing by offering high sensitivity, selectivity, and rapid response times. Leveraging data-driven AI techniques, these sensors provide a non-invasive, cost-effective alternative to traditional methods, with applications in detecting molecular biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, and coronavirus. The performance metrics outlined in the comparative table illustrate the significant advancements enabled by AI integration. Sensitivity increases from 60 to 75 % in ordinary aptasensors to 85–95 %, while specificity improves from 70-80 % to 90–98 %. This enhanced performance allows for ultra-low detection limits, such as 10 fM for carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and 20 fM for mucin-1 (MUC1) using Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS), and 1 pM for prostate-specific antigen (PSA) with Differential Pulse Voltammetry (DPV). Similarly, Square Wave Voltammetry (SWV) and potentiometric sensors have detected alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) at 5 fM and epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM) at 100 fM, respectively. AI integration also enhances reproducibility, reduces false positives and negatives (from 15-20 % to 5–10 %), and significantly decreases response times (from 10-15 s to 2–3 s). These advancements improve data processing speeds (from 10 to 20 min per sample to 2–5 min) and calibration accuracy (<2 % margin of error compared to 5–10 %), while expanding application scope to multi-target biomarker detection. This review highlights how these advancements position AI-optimized electrochemical aptasensors as powerful tools for personalized treatment, point-of-care testing, and continuous health monitoring. Despite a higher cost ($500-$1,500/unit), their enhanced portability and diagnostic performance promise to revolutionize healthcare, environmental monitoring, and food safety, ultimately improving public health outcomes. © 2024

Depression Scale Dictionary Decomposition Framework for Multimodal Automatic Depression Level Prediction

Currently, many researchers aim to achieve automatic depression level prediction via speech and video behavior analysis. However, previous works have struggled to decompose audio and video sequences into the information related to and unrelated to depression scores, hindering the model's perception of depression cues. Besides, previous works implement multimodal fusion using attention mechanisms or linear layers, but failed to simultaneously consider the Euclidean relationship among tokens and the non-Euclidean relationship among channels, which bring limitations in capturing depression cues. In response to the above issues, we propose a depression scale dictionary decomposition framework, which mainly includes a Bidirectional Dictionary Decomposition (BDD) module and a Bidirectional Multimodal Fusion (BMF) module. The BDD module can use the dictionaries generated based on the depression scale to semantically decompose audio and video sequences into the information related to and unrelated to depression scores along token and channel dimensions for promoting depression cue perception. Moreover, considering the respective characteristics of tokens and channels, the BMF module uses linear layers and graph convolution to achieve cross-modal mixing, which is used to aggregate audio and video sequences for predicting depression levels. The validation on AVEC 2013, AVEC 2014 and DAIC-WOZ datasets demonstrates our method's superiority. © 1991-2012 IEEE.

Impossible Differential Attacks on 13-Round CLEFIA-128

CLEFIA, a new 128-bit block cipher proposed by Sony Corporation, is increasingly attracting cryptanalysts＇ attention. In this paper, we present two new impossible differential attacks on 13 rounds of CLEFIA-128. The proposed attacks utilize a variety of previously known techniques, in particular the hash table technique and redundancy in the key schedule of this block cipher. The first attack does not consider the whitening layers of CLEFIA, requires 21~9＂5 chosen plaintexts, and has a running time equivalent to about 2112.9 encryptions. The second attack preserves the whitening layers, requires 2117.8 chosen plaintexts, and has a total time complexity equivalent to about 2121.2 encryptions.

FastDu:Efficient Directory Summaries Harvest by Tracking File system Changes

FastDu is a file system service that tracks file system changes by intercepting file system calls to maintain directory summaries, which play important roles in both storage administration and improvement of user experiences for some applications. In most circumstances, directory summaries are independently harvested by applications via traversing the file system hierarchy and calling stat 0 on every file in each directory. For large file systems, this brute-force traverse-based approach can take many hours to complete, even if only a small percentage of the files have changed. This paper describes FastDu, which uses a pre-built database to store harvested directory summaries, and tracks the file system changes by intercept- ing file system calls, so that new harvesting is restricted to the small subset of directories that contain modified files. Tests using FastDu show that this approach reduces the time needed to get a directory summary by one or two orders of magnitude with almost negligible penalty to application-aware file system performance.
