The design of a 180° output phase difference Wilkinson power divider for L-band applications is detailed in this article. The Wilkinson power is generated through the utilization of the parallel coupler's phase shifter. To showcase the potential of the suggested power divider, an FR4 microwave substrate is fabricated with a narrow band of 1.6 GHz to accommodate radio astronomy systems. The insertion loss, return loss, and isolation loss for the power divider's difference phase are accurately simulated at the operational frequency.

A new near-duplicate document image matching approach is proposed. Globally, we model the spatial arrangements of objects in an image. Locally, the micro-patterns within each object are captured. To define a micro-pattern, the N-nary center-symmetric gray value differences in an image local neighborhood of a variable radius are exploited. A visual descriptor is proposed to characterize the appearance of the object based on micro-pattern distributions. By combining the global and local features, each document image is represented by a compact signature with a variable length. We employ Earth Mover's Distance for image dissimilarity computation, which stands out for its remarkable ability to tolerate the instability of object segmentation by allowing many-to-many correspondence among objects. Extensive experiments on two data sets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

A deep neural network of multiple nonlinear layers forms a large function space, which can easily lead to overfitting when it encounters small-sample data. To mitigate overfitting in small-sample classification, learning more discriminative features from small-sample data is becoming a new trend. To this end, this paper aims to find a subspace of neural networks that can facilitate a large decision margin. Specifically, we propose the Orthogonal Softmax Layer (OSL), which makes the weight vectors in the classification layer remain orthogonal during both the training and test processes. The Rademacher complexity of a network using the OSL is only K1, where K is the number of classes, of that of a network using the fully connected classification layer, leading to a tighter generalization error bound. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed OSL has better performance than the methods used for comparison on four small-sample benchmark datasets, as well as its applicability to large-sample datasets. Deadlock control is an important research issue in automated manufacturing systems that have a high degree of resource sharing and concurrency. Since minimal siphons are closely tied with deadlocks in Petri net models, their efficient extraction is fundamentally important. The existing methods can rapidly extract one minimal siphon given a maximal unmarked siphon that is obtained by using a mixed integer programming approach. This paper for the first time presents an extraction algorithm that can efficiently extract all minimal ones. The idea is based on the generation and use of a subnet tree structure given the places in a maximal unmarked siphon. Several Petri net models of automated manufacturing systems are used to illustrate the proposed concepts and methods.

Wildfires are a major ecological disturbance in Southern California and often lead to great destruction along the Wildland-Urban Interface. Live fuel moisture has been used as an important indicator of wildfire risk in measurements of vegetation water content. However, the limited field measurements of live fuel moisture in both time and space have affected the accuracy of wildfire risk estimations. Traditional estimation of live fuel moisture using remote sensing data was based on vegetation indices, indirect proxies of vegetation water content and subject to influence from weather conditions. In this study, we investigated the feasibility of estimating live fuel moisture using vegetation indices, Soil Moisture Active Passive L-band soil moisture data and the modeled vegetation water content using a nonlinear model based on VIs and the stem factor associated with remote sensing moisture data products. The stem factor describes the peak amount of water residing in stems of plants and varies by land cover. We also compared the outcomes from regression models and recurrent neural network using the same independent variables. We found the modeled vegetation water content outperformed vegetation indices and the L-band soil moisture observations, suggesting a nonlinear relationship between live fuel moisture and the remotely sensed vegetation signatures. We discuss our results which will improve the predictability of live fuel moisture.

The detection of S100 Calcium Binding Protein A6, a useful cholangiocarcinoma marker, has been demonstrated for the first time using silicon nitride photonic resonator sensor. The sensor was designed and fabricated by low-cost 500 nm technology. Label-free sensing results based on the reactions between anti-S100A6 antibody and S100A6 antigen, showed good sensitivity and specificity. This sensing technique has potential in low-cost and low-level detection of the biomarker, deserving further study. © 2022 IEEE.

Genetic Algorithms have been more and more employed to stumble on congenital heart defects in the last variety of years. Gasoline is a computational technique that uses evolutionary concepts to optimize answers to complex problems. This study proposes the use of Genetic Algorithms as a novel approach for detecting Congenital Heart Defects a common and potentially life-threatening condition affecting newborns. By incorporating genetic principles and simulations, GAs have proven to be effective in solving complex medical diagnosis problems. The study aims to optimize the classification process by employing evolutionary techniques to identify key features and prioritize them based on their importance in diagnosing CHDs. Results from the GA model showed a significant improvement in accuracy and speed compared to existing methods, making it a promising tool for early detection and intervention of CHDs in newborns. But gas is more appropriate for this assignment because of its potential to pick out extra subtle variations between ordinary and abnormal cardiovascular anatomy. Gas has additionally been established to be promising within the identity and quantification of CHDs.

The Multiple Traveling Salesmen Problem (mTSP) is of the famous and classical problems of research in operations and is accounted as one of the most famous and widely used problems of combinational optimization. Most of the complex problems can be modeled as the mTSP and then be solved. The mTSP is a NP-Complete one; therefore, it is not possible to use the exact algorithms for solving it instead the heuristics methods are often applied for solving such problems. In this paper, a new hybrid algorithm, called GELS-GA, has been presented for solving the mTSP. The utility of GELS-GA is compared with some related works such as GA and ACO and achieves optimality even in highly complex scenarios. Although, the proposed algorithm is simple, it includes an appropriate time of completion and the least traversed distance among existing algorithms.

In context of the current weapon target assignment (WTA) problem, consideration of target capability is often disregarded. To address this issue, we propose an optimized model for weapon target assignment in complex environments. Our model provides a comprehensive description and conducts a detailed analysis of constraints and objective functions in the context of adversarial weapon target assignment (AWTA). To efficiently tackle the assignment problem, we employ the multi-particle swarm optimization algorithm (MOPSO). During the optimization process, we incorporate learning factors and inertia weights to update particle positions, seamlessly implementing the model with a set of adjustable parameters. Experimental results demonstrate that our model effectively captures the concept of adversarial scenarios. Furthermore, by utilizing the MOPSO optimization algorithm, we achieve a superior Pareto front even for small-scale adversarial scenarios, successfully resolving the adversarial WTA problem. Our research contributes an effective optimization approach to address the weapon task assignment problem and offers valuable inspiration for future investigations into multi-objective research. In this work, new approach of missing step detection without using costly encoder in a micro stepping motor is proposed. For a steeping motor driver, a MOSFET driven H-bridge driver was adopted, and sinusoidal type of current is controlled to implement the micro stepping. Also, in order to investigate the missing step the current flowing the coil which is generated from the operational amplifier was given feedback and the feedback data was analyzed to detect the missing step. As a sequence, the missing step was compensated as much as the amount of the missing steps, yielding the control of the desired micro stepping angle.
