Large Language Models (LLMs) have shown great potential in the biomedical domain with the advancement of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). However, existing retrieval-augmented approaches face challenges in addressing diverse queries and documents, particularly for medical knowledge queries, resulting in sub-optimal performance. To address these limitations, we propose a novel plug- and-play LLM-based retrieval method called Self-Rewarding Tree Search (SeRTS) based on Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS) and a self-rewarding paradigm. By combining the reasoning capabilities of LLMs with the effectiveness of tree search, SeRTS boosts the zero-shot performance of retrieving high-quality and informative results for RAG. We further enhance retrieval performance by fine-tuning LLMs with Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) objectives using the trajectories collected by SeRTS as feedback. Controlled experiments using the BioASQ-QA dataset with GPT-3.5-Turbo and LLama2-7b demonstrate that our method significantly improves the performance of the BM25 retriever and surpasses the strong baseline of self-reflection in both efficiency and scalability. Moreover, SeRTS generates higher-quality feedback for PPO training than self-reflection. Our proposed method effectively adapts LLMs to document retrieval tasks, enhancing their ability to retrieve highly relevant documents for RAG in the context of medical knowledge queries. This work presents a significant step forward in leveraging LLMs for accurate and comprehensive biomedical question answering. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

The Human Mobility Signature Identification (HuMID) problem stands as a fundamental task within the realm of driving style representation, dedicated to discerning latent driving behaviors and preferences from diverse driver trajectories for driver identification. Its solutions hold significant implications across various domains (e.g., ride-hailing, insurance), wherein their application serves to safeguard users and mitigate potential fraudulent activities. Present HuMID solutions often exhibit limitations in adaptability when confronted with lengthy trajectories, consequently incurring substantial computational overhead. Furthermore, their inability to effectively extract crucial local information further impedes their performance. To address this problem, we propose a Siamese Multiple Attention Temporal Convolutional Network (Siamese MA-TCN) to capitalize on the strengths of both TCN architecture and multi-head self-attention, enabling the proficient extraction of both local and long-term dependencies. Additionally, we devise a novel attention mechanism tailored for the efficient aggregation of multi-scale representations derived from our model. Experimental evaluations conducted on two real-world taxi trajectory datasets reveal that our proposed model effectively extracts both local key information and long-term dependencies. These findings highlight the model's outstanding generalization capabilities, demonstrating its robustness and adaptability across datasets of varying sizes. © 2024 IEEE.

The purpose of this note is to correct an error made by Con et al. (2023), specifically in the proof of Theorem 9. Here we correct the proof but as a consequence we get a slightly weaker result. In Theorem9, we claimed that for integers k and n such that k q RS code that can decode from n - 2k + 1 insdel errors where (Formula presented). Here we prove the following. Theorem 1: For integers n and k q RS-code, where (Formula presented) is a prime power, that can decode from n - 2k + 1 adversarial insdel errors. Note that the exponent of n is 4k - 3 whereas in Theorem 9 it is 4k - 4. For constant dimensional codes, the field size is of order O(n4k-3) , and in particular, for k = 2 the field size is of order O(n5) . © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Cloud computing services and gig economy platforms vary in flexibility, efficiency, and scalability due to their pricing schemes. Cloud computing services provide flexibility and cost control via pay-as-you-go, subscription, and freemium models. Like gig economy platforms, workers and customers pay for task completion, time-based contracts, and premium services. Assessing how successfully different pricing techniques fulfil varied demands, from short-term initiatives to long-term commitments, requires identifying their strengths and weaknesses. The goal is to evaluate these models' capacity to meet shifting demand, save money, and scale. The methodology also assesses cost predictability and company and consumer advantages of each pricing structure. The comparison seeks to improve resource allocation and financial planning by revealing how various pricing systems function in different circumstances. The research helps decision-makers use cloud services or gig economy platforms for different operational purposes by emphasizing their economic consequences. From datasets, simulated pricing model data was examined. The first example includes settings such as Hours Used (5-25), Pay-as-You-Go (10-50 USD), and Subscription-Based (30 USD). The second instance has Job Size (Resources) from 5 to 25, Freemium Model (USD) from 10 to 30, and Usage-Based Pricing (USD) from 10 to 50. © 2024 IEEE.

The goal of this research is to integrate an artificial intelligence framework for predicting Kathakali mudras, a crucial component of the traditional Indian dance style that is renowned for its complex hand and facial motions. Our goal is to protect and improve the accessibility of this traditional art form by utilising deep learning technology. To be more precise, we used the object identification model YOLOv8 together with convolutional neural networks (CNNs) like VGG 19, Inception V3, and ResNet 152 to predict and analyse Kathakali mudras. Furthermore, Few-shot learning (FSL) and support vector machines (SVMs) were used to offer a comparative viewpoint on the efficacy of machine learning method in this situation. The study entailed a thorough analysis of how well-performing different deep learning techniques performed. The predictive accuracy of VGG 19, Inception V3, and ResNet 152 for intricate mudras of Kathakali was subjected to a thorough evaluation process. In addition, an evaluation of YOLOv8's real-time object identification capabilities was conducted in order to investigate its potential in live performance circumstances. The results of the experiment showed that VGG 19 performed better than the other models and had the highest accuracy in mudra prediction. As a result, VGG 19 was chosen as the best algorithm for this particular application. The results of this study demonstrate how artificial intelligence (AI) technologies may support and preserve traditional artistic forms. This AI-integrated framework is a useful tool for scholars, educators, and dancers, promoting a deeper knowledge and enjoyment of this cultural legacy through its accurate analysis and prediction of Kathakali mudras. © 2024 IEEE.
