Many people want to start their businesses and earn a lot of money from them. Before starting a business, they must decide on a location and desired service. In order to make these decisions, they should collect and analyze characteristics of locations and services such as average revenues and floating population. However, they are difficult for individuals because collecting and analyzing data require expert knowledge. To overcome this problem, we propose Neural Tensor Factorization (NeuralTF) and Explainable Neural Tensor Factorization (XNeuralTF) to automatically analyze such characteristics and predict revenues. NeuralTF combines Tensor Factorization (TF) and Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP). Therefore, NeuralTF is suitable for handling a multi-dimensional tensor, and it simultaneously learns both explicit and implicit higher-order feature interactions for high predictive performance. XNeuralTF is an extension of NeuralTF to explain recommended results for a 3-dimensional tensor. In addition, we suggest two novel metrics for evaluating the explainability of a recommendation model. We conduct extensive experiments on both predictive performance and explainability perspectives. The experiments demonstrate that our XNeuralTF has comparable or higher predictive performance than the state-of-the-art method, with the highest explainability. © 2023, The Authors. As spectrum utilization becomes increasingly scarce due to the exponential growth of intelligent connected devices in the Internet of Things (IoT), developing efficient communication protocols with simultaneous improvements in energy and spectrum usage is critical in response to the demands of cost-effective IoT devices. In this work, we propose a hybrid orthogonal and non-orthogonal multiple-access protocol in coordinated direct uplink/downlink and relay transmission for low-cost IoT paradigms, where a source node engages in direct transmission with proximate IoT users and relies on a relay node for distant connections. This protocol offers a successive interference cancellation–free approach and does not require any channel disparity for power allocation. Exact and asymptotic analytical expressions for the outage probability (OP) and ergodic capacity (EC) are derived. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed protocol significantly improves OP–by 8 folds for the respective proximate users while maintaining the same OP for distant users over classical coordinated non-orthogonal multiple access–and delivers superior EC performance for proximate IoT users at low to moderate signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) and distant users at most SNR. Moreover, critical tasks for minimizing the maximal OP and maximizing the ergodic sum capacity have been undertaken to achieve outage fairness and enhance the overall system's capacity. These non-convex problems are efficiently addressed by applying the analytical asymptotic-inspired alternative optimization. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

To ensure the security of image information and facilitate efficient management in the cloud, the utilization of reversible data hiding in encrypted images (RDHEI) has emerged as pivotal. However, most existing RDHEI schemes suffer from lower security and limited embedding capacity. To tackle these challenges, we propose a reversible data hiding with secret encrypted image sharing and adaptive coding scheme. Specifically, in the encryption phase, we introduce an improved secret sharing (SS) encryption method based on the chinese remainder theorem for polynomials (CRTP). This method not only improves the security of encrypted images but also vacates a larger room for embedding. In the embedding phase, we introduce an adaptive coding embedding approach using XOR preservation (XORP) and huffman coding, which provides high embedding capacity. Experimental results and security analysis demonstrate that our proposed encryption method achieves optimal values in security indicators for encrypted images, such as information entropy, histograms, NPCR and UACI. The proposed embedding method is superior to some state-of-the-art schemes in terms of embedding capacity. Furthermore, in datasets BOSSBase and BOWS2, the average embedding rates of the proposed embedding approach can reach 2.1745 bpp and 2.0656 bpp, respectively. © 2025 IEEE.

The Periodic Table of Primes

Over millennia, nobody has been able to predict where prime numbers sprout or how they spread. This study establishes the Periodic Table of Primes (PTP) using four prime numbers 2, 3, 5, and 7. We identify 48 integers out of a period 2×3×5×7=210 to be the roots of all primes as well as composites without factors of 2, 3, 5, and 7. Each prime, twin primes, or composite without factors of 2, 3, 5, and 7 is an offspring of the 48 integers uniquely allocated on the PTP. Three major establishments made in the article are the Formula of Primes, the Periodic Table of Primes, and the Counting Functions of Primes and Twin Primes.

Knowledge Graph Reasoning aims to derive new insights from existing Knowledge Graphs (KGs) and address any missing or incomplete data. Existing models primarily rely on explicit information while neglecting the implicit constraints imposed by entity types on relations types. For example, when the entity type is "person-person," the relation type should be constrained to interpersonal connections like "co-worker." Based on this perspective, we introduce a priori knowledge-based approach for inferring relations types. This approach utilizes the relations type distribution across different entity types in the dataset to guide the inference process. Additionally, recognizing that mapping all different relations types to a single space can decrease inference accuracy due to the diversity of semantics, we propose a parallel spaces KG embedding model that partitions the entire KG into multiple subspaces. Each subspace is dedicated to learning information associated with a specific relation type. Experimental results on three KG reasoning benchmarks demonstrate that our model outperforms other baselines in accuracy. Importantly, our model shows significant advantages when applied to datasets with a substantial number of relations.

Mask Attack Detection Using Vascular-weighted Motion-robust rPPG Signals

Detecting 3D mask attacks to a face recognition system is challenging. Although genuine faces and 3D face masks show significantly different remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) signals, rPPG-based face anti-spoofing methods often suffer from performance degradation due to unstable face alignment in the video sequence and weak rPPG signals. To enhance the rPPG signal in a motion-robust way, a landmark-anchored face stitching method is proposed to align the faces robustly and precisely at the pixel-wise level by using both SIFT keypoints and facial landmarks. To better encode the rPPG signal, a weighted spatial-temporal representation is proposed, which emphasizes the face regions with rich blood vessels. In addition, characteristics of rPPG signals in different color spaces are jointly utilized. To improve the generalization capability, a lightweight EfficientNet with a Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) is designed to extract both spatial and temporal features from the rPPG spatial-temporal representation for classification. The proposed method is compared with the state-of-the-art methods on five benchmark datasets under both intra-dataset and cross-dataset evaluations. The proposed method shows a significant and consistent improvement in performance over other state-of-the-art rPPG-based methods for face spoofing detection. © 2023, CC BY-NC-ND.

"It Is Hard to Remove from My Eye": Design Makeup Residue Visualization System for Chinese Traditional Opera (Xiqu) Performers

Chinese traditional opera (Xiqu) performers often experience skin problems due to the long-term use of heavy-metal-laden face paints. To explore the current skincare challenges encountered by Xiqu performers, we conducted an online survey (N=136) and semi-structured interviews (N=15) as a formative study. We found that incomplete makeup removal is the leading cause of human-induced skin problems, especially the difficulty in removing eye makeup. Therefore, we proposed EyeVis, a prototype that can visualize the residual eye makeup and record the time make-up was worn by Xiqu performers. We conducted a 7-day deployment study (N=12) to evaluate EyeVis. Results indicate that EyeVis helps to increase Xiqu performers' awareness about removing makeup, as well as boosting their confidence and security in skincare. Overall, this work also provides implications for studying the work of people who wear makeup on a daily basis, and helps to promote and preserve the intangible cultural heritage of practitioners. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

A key method used in the study of Natural Language Processing (NLP) is sentiment analysis, or emotion analysis, plays a pivotal role in text analysis. Its primary function is to discern and categorize the underlying emotions within textual content, classifying them as positive, neutral, or negative sentiments. A variety of textual inputs can be used with this process, including entire documents, individual sentences, and more. Understanding the sentiments expressed by individuals is of paramount importance to organizations in today’s digital age. Clients and customers now have the means to express their thoughts and emotions with greater ease and immediacy than ever before. This wealth of sentiment data can offer valuable insights that organizations can leverage to enhance their products, services, and overall customer experience. The present study focuses on the sentiment analysis of Twitter data related to the COVID-19 pandemic, employing the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) algorithm. To improve the accuracy of sentiment analysis, a pre-processing procedure is introduced, which involves the use of the Neat Text module in Python to clean the tweets. In this research endeavor, a dataset comprising 1,79,107 COVID-19-related tweets is subjected to sentiment analysis using the proposed pre-processing module and LSTM. The results demonstrate an impressive accuracy rate of 96% in accurately determining the sentiments conveyed in these COVID-19 tweets. In contrast, the existing algorithm, based on Artificial Neural Network (ANN), achieved a significantly lower accuracy rate of 76%. This research not only showcases the effectiveness of LSTM and pre-processing in sentiment analysis but also highlights the significance of sentiment analysis in gaining valuable insights from vast amounts of textual data, especially when important events like the COVID-19 pandemic are involved.
