Improving Classification Robustness for Noisy Texts with Robust Word Vectors

Text classification is a fundamental task in natural language processing, and with a huge and rapidly growing body of research devoted to it. However, there has been little work on investigating noise robustness for the developed approaches. In this work, we are bridging this gap, introducing results on noise robustness testing of modern text classification architectures for English and Russian languages. We benchmark the CharCNN and SentenceCNN models and introduce a new model, called RoVe (Robust Vectors), that we show to be the most robust to noise. © 2023, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Traditional lithography techniques are currently facing challenges, including high costs and the susceptibility of mask plates to damage. This research aims to elucidate the feasibility and technical constraints of a novel diffraction lithography approach. This method can reduce the size and cost of lithography machines, break through existing technological barriers, and offer new possibilities for the future development of lithography machines. We have built a basic computational holographic lithography system utilizing a 405nm laser and validated the system using holograms obtained with both classical GS algorithm and a newly proposed method. With the GS holograms, patterns with 700nm features have been successfully exposed on the photoresist. With our new algorithms, multiple holograms for the same target pattern can be generated with different settings in the algorithm. Sequential exposure of those holograms resulted in continuous lines 500 nm wide with reduced speckle artifacts, which was about a 1.4-time improvement over the result from the GS algorithm. Future research will focus on optimizing and enhancing the experimental system and the hologram calculation methods to reduce the line widths further and improve the exposure pattern quality. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. We study the computation of the global generalized Nash equilibrium (GNE) for a class of non-convex multi-player games, where players' actions are subject to both local and coupling constraints. Due to the non-convex payoff functions, we employ canonical duality to reformulate the setting as a complementary problem. Under given conditions, we reveal the relation between the stationary point and the global GNE. According to the convex-concave properties within the complementary function, we propose a continuous-time mirror descent to compute GNE by generating functions in the Bregman divergence and the damping-based design. Then, we devise several Lyapunov functions to prove that the trajectory along the dynamics is bounded and convergent.

As one of the critical infrastructures, the safety and reliability of the smart grid are directly associated with the development and stability of society. However, studies have shown that the power grid is at risk when the parameters are manipulated and cyber-attacks are generated against the state estimation, i.e., under false data injection attack (FDIA). Currently, a rich body of literature has studied on the FDIA defense methods, but most of them focus on the direct current (DC) scenario. This paper proposes a novel detection model that combines the wavelet packet decomposition (WPD) technique with the random forest (RF) algorithm. The WPD is able to capture the deviation of parameters from the normal conditions, whereas the RF is developed to classify these features and effectively identify the malicious data. The proposed model is also evaluated using real-world data on IEEE 118-bus power system. The results demonstrate excellent performance on precision rate and recall rate under varying scenarios. © 2021 IEEE.

A computer decision support system for the design and change-over of production of multi-assortment polymeric materials has been developed. The system helps to solve the problems of choosing hardware design and technological modes of extrusion, ensuring resource saving in production. The system includes a subsystem for selecting the brand of the extruder and assembling a 3D model of the modular screw of the extruder, a subsystem for synthesizing a mathematical model for calculating the extrusion efficiency indices depending on the operating parameters of the extruder, a database of types of polymeric materials, a database of brands of extruders, a database of technological regulations of extrusion. 3D models of elements of screw extruders of various types, rules of placement and layout of 3D models of elements when assembling a 3D screw model, mathematical models of physical processes in the channels of screws and heads of extruders are the core of the system. The system allows you to select the brand of the extruder, form the configuration of the extruder screw and determine the operating parameters of extrusion, at which the specified requirements for the quality of the extrudate, throughput and specific energy consumption of the extrusion are satisfied. Testing of the system has been carried out according to the data of industrial extrusion and calendering productions of multi-assortment polymeric films for packaging food and medicines. The test results have confirmed the operability of the software. They have showed an increase in production efficiency due to a reduction in defective products (non-returnable waste), energy saving, and a reduction in the time of change-over of production on new tasks.

This article proposes a novel Peeling of Nano-Particle (PNP) process to locally remove material on a hard material surface using controllable magnetic fields. Fe3O4 particles in the size range of 50-100 nm in aqueous solution (pH value 11 adjusted by KOH) were magnetically controlled to adhere and remove from a 4H-SiC surface by two electromagnetic coils, which were sandwiched between the substrate. The particle controlling phenomenon on the surface was experimentally observed and verified by our developed apparatus applying an evanescent field. According to the results, particles could be controlled to approach and remove from the substrate surface with 12mT of magnetic field at the selective area on the substrate surface to realise the proposed PNP process. © European Society for Precision Engineering and Nanotechnology, Conference Proceedings - 22nd International Conference and Exhibition, EUSPEN 2022. Identifying different vehicle types can help manage traffic more efficiently, reduce congestion, and improve public safety. This study aims to create a classification model that can recognize vehicle types based on the sound of passing vehicles. To achieve this, a database of raw audio files containing 1763 samples from two sources was assembled. The time-domain signals were converted to a time-frequency representation using the short-time Fourier transform to generate Mel Spectrograms. Mel-frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCCs) were also generated using the discrete cosine transform. In our experiments we compared these approaches. Since the data was imbalanced we applied online augmentation. Based on the literature review, we chose a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) classifier because it is particularly well suited for analyzing large datasets due to its automatic feature extraction, parameter sharing and sparsity. The results showed that Mel Spectrograms were more effective for audio data preprocessing in this particular use case, achieving the highest accuracy of 0.875 and the highest f1-score of 0.877 compared to MFCCs. © 2025 IEEE computer Society.
