In the paper, the authors check the behaviour of Bluetooth Low Energy protocol in a popular smart wristband and a microcontroller in the heart rate monitoring application. The measurements were collected using a development board with the ESP32 System on Chip. The computer system for forming compositions and modeling the secondary polymer materials properties is described in the article. The polymer compositions are formed using a customizable dataware, which includes a polymer wastes database and a knowledge base for recycling polymers into useful polymer products The knowledge base is developed using a product-frame model for representing knowledge about polymers and their compatibility. Modeling and research of the secondary polymers properties (strength, elasticity and density) is carried out based on the mathematical models. The result of the modeling system is a technological map for the composite polymer mixture synthesis and the production of a useful polymer product. The map includes data on the recipe, physicochemical and technological properties of polymers as secondary raw materials, polymer composition, hardware and technological design of the process, values of technological controlled variables of individual stages of processing. The use of a modeling system in production makes it possible to reduce the time required to solve the problem of selecting compositions, as well as reconfiguring production for a new task, improve the consumer characteristics of polymer products and reduce defects. © 2023 IEEE.

The paper presents research dedicated to observations of relations between attribute properties and discretisation. In the investigations described, the gradually increasing sets of features were discretised by selected approaches, and several variants of data were constructed. The continuous, partially discrete, and completely translated datasets were explored by the chosen classifiers and their performance studied in the context of a number of discretised attributes, discretisation procedures, and the way of processing of features and datasets. The stylometric problem of authorship attribution was the machine learning task under study. The experimental results enable to observe closer the specificity of style-markers employed as characteristic features, and indicate conditions for efficient recognition of authorship. They can be extended to other application domains with similar characteristics. © 2024 The Authors.

Fault detection(FD) for traction systems is one of the active topics in the railway and academia because it is the initial step for the running reliability and safety of high-speed trains. Heterogeneity of data and complexity of systems have brought new challenges to the traditional FD methods. For addressing these challenges, this paper designs an FD algorithm based on the improved unscented Kalman filter(UKF) with consideration of performance degradation. It is derived by incorporating a degradation process into the state-space *** network topology of traction systems is taken into consideration for improving the performance of state estimation. We first obtain the mixture distribution by the mixture of sigma points in UKF. Then, the Lévy process with jump points is introduced to construct the degradation model. Finally, the moving average interstate standard deviation(MAISD) is designed for detecting *** the proposed methods via a traction systems in a certain type of trains obtains satisfactory results.

In the context of data imbalance probably the most investigated problem is imbalance of classes, as learning from the data with this characteristic makes detection of existing patterns for all classes more difficult. However, other problems related to imbalance also exists and the paper addresses such cases where classes are balanced, but there is in-class imbalance. Such imbalance can be caused by uneven representation of sub-concepts. When there is a noticeable difference between the numbers of samples belonging to sub-concepts, this can turn the under-represented sub-concepts into disjuncts. Data irregularities of this type can hinder recognition, therefore actions are typically taken to restore balance. In the investigations described, the issue was studied in the stylometric domain and various classifiers were applied to the data that was balanced, then imbalanced, and finally with restored balance. The experiments show that the specifics of the domain of application can put its own mark on the data which is difficult to overcome by standard processing such as under- or oversampling. Observed dependence on a learner and dataset makes the issue even more complex and layered, and shows the need for deeper studies. © 2024 The Authors.

Reinforcement learning-based unknown reference tracking control of HMASs with nonidentical communication delays

This paper focuses on the optimal output synchronization control problem of heterogeneous multiagent systems(HMASs) subject to nonidentical communication delays by a reinforcement learning *** with existing studies assuming that the precise model of the leader is globally or distributively accessible to all or some of the followers, the leader's precise dynamical model is entirely inaccessible to all the followers in this paper. A data-based learning algorithm is first proposed to reconstruct the leader's unknown system matrix online. A distributed predictor subject to communication delays is further devised to estimate the leader's state, where interaction delays are allowed to be nonidentical. Then, a learning-based local controller, together with a discounted performance function, is projected to reach the optimal output synchronization. Bellman equations and game algebraic Riccati equations are constructed to learn the optimal solution by developing a model-based reinforcement learning(RL) algorithm online without solving regulator equations, which is followed by a model-free off-policy RL algorithm to relax the requirement of all agents' dynamics faced by the model-based RL algorithm. The optimal tracking control of HMASs subject to unknown leader dynamics and communication delays is shown to be solvable under the proposed RL algorithms. Finally, the effectiveness of theoretical analysis is verified by numerical simulations.

In response to the escalating demand for electricity, the aging process and inherent failures in power lines have become unavoidable challenges in their operational integrity. This research addresses the imperative need for a robust method to detect damage in power insulator disc images, introducing a novel feature extraction technique grounded in color intensity profile transformation and ensemble learning. For the purposes of the research, a specific dataset was developed based on publicly available images of power insulators. The collection consists of 9232 images of insulator discs which included 2184 images of damaged discs. The discernible damages include breakages and burnouts. Two distinct analysis variants were employed. In the first variant (V1), two classification groups were selected: disc with damages and disc without damages. In the second variant (V2), three classification groups were selected: discs without damage, broken discs, and burnout discs. The described research was divided into two successive stages. In the first of them (S1), the transformed color intensity profiles for the prepared data set were built and various machine learning models for their classification were trained and evaluated. In the next stage (S2), previously developed, highest efficient machine learning models, were used to make the detection of various damaged types of overhead line insulator discs. For the first stage of research high-performance results and a high value of the F1 score parameters were obtained (F1 score = 0.999 for the first variant (S1V1) and F1 score = 0.992 for the second variant (S1V2). In the second stage of research and the first variant (S2V1), the highest result of the F1 score was 0.932 and for the second variant (S2V2) F1 score was 0.930. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

The article describes intelligent technologies used in the design of an information system for controlling the polymer waste processing into useful technical products. The basis of the system is a configurable information model that includes a database of characteristics of polymer waste and a knowledge base of the processes of their recycling into technical products (containers, packing materials, etc.). The knowledge base is built using a production-frame model for the representation of unformalized knowledge about the polymers compatibility, the quantitative ratio of the components of a composite mixture, waste processing methods to obtain a homogeneous mixture with specified properties (strength, resistance to aggressive substance, etc.). The result of the functioning of the system is the formation of a technological map of the production of a technical product, including information about the formulation and synthesis process of the polymer composition, specifications of the hardware design and the values of the technological modes of the production stages. Testing of the system according to the LLC "Plastic processing plant named after "Komsomolskaya Pravda" on the basis of the Polymer Ecology Training Center of SPSIT confirmed its operability and the possibility of use at polymer industry enterprises. The use of the system allows you to reduce the time spent on solving the problem of reconfiguration of production and selection of compositions, reduce defects and improve the consumer characteristics of products. ©2023 IEEE.

With recent advancements in industrial robots, educating students in new technologies and preparing them for the future is imperative. However, access to industrial robots for teaching poses challenges, such as the high cost of acquiring these robots, the safety of the operator and the robot, and complicated training material. This paper proposes two low-cost platforms built using open-source tools like Robot Operating System (ROS) and its latest version ROS 2 to help students learn and test algorithms on remotely connected industrial robots. Universal Robotics (UR5) arm and a custom mobile rover were deployed in different life-size testbeds, a greenhouse, and a warehouse to create an Autonomous Agricultural Harvester System (AAHS) and an Autonomous Warehouse Management System (AWMS). These platforms were deployed for a period of 7 months and were tested for their efficacy with 1,433 and 1,312 students, respectively. The hardware used in AAHS and AWMS was controlled remotely for 160 and 355 hours, respectively, by students over a period of 3 months. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Clustering algorithms are crucial in uncovering hidden patterns and structures within datasets. Among the density-based clustering algorithms, DBSCAN (Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise) has gained considerable attention for its effectiveness in various applications. However, determining appropriate parameter values for this algorithm remains a challenging task. This paper presents a novel methodology for eps parameter estimation for an improved DBSCAN, namely SS-DBSCAN. The experimental results across nine datasets demonstrate the efficacy of our proposed method in accurately determining clusters with eps value from SS-DBSCAN algorithm. The clusters identified using estimated eps values by SS-DBSCAN align well with the inherent structure of the datasets, yielding better cluster results than the manually set parameters and other methods used for automatic estimations of the eps for DBSCAN. Our approach adapted well to the peculiarities of each dataset, whether dealing with different scales, dimensions, or densities;it proved the versatility and robustness across various datasets, thereby emphasizing its generalizability and potential for broader applications. © 2023 IEEE.
